(01/31/2011) This ran when parked … was only 25 years ago.
“1942 Willys Jeep for sale. It ran when it was parked 25 years ago. Has mostly original parts. ”
Here’s a great shot of an unusual wooden hardtop for a CJ-2A. The wood appears knotless, too.
Here’s a cool image from 2006 taken in Iceland that I found on this Flickr Site.
You can see an imagine of a CJ-3B falling apart here, but the image is copyright protected.
Last night installed a free App for my Android phone called CraigsNotifica Craigslist. There is both a free version and a $9 version. (here is something similar for the iphone, but i’ve never used it)
What this App does is allow you to create different searches of one or more craigslists to auto search for items and then notify you if someone uploads an item that matches.
For example, I have a ‘Willys|cj2a|cj3a|cj3b|dj3a’ search string for 6 different craigslists in the northwest that allows me to now keep tabs on local jeeps.
I also have a search on any free stuff listed in the Boise Craigslist (partly, simply because it’s amazing what people will give away).
Here are a couple examples of screenshots.
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $5300.
Nice looking, but doesn’t start at the moment.
“1964 willys jeep cj3 new paint has been stored in heated building for four years new wheels & tires new battery has bad fuel will need fuel system cleaned/will not start”
It sure looks like a lot has been completed on this project. Get the body built and you’ve got a nice CJ-6.
“THIS IS A VINTAGE 1964 KAISER/WILLYS JEEP CJ- 6 ,THE CHASSIS HAS BEEN SAND BLASTED AND COATED WITH POR-15, ALL THE BRAKE,SEALS, LINES,HOSES HAVE BEEN REPLACED, NEW FRONT SPRINGS, BUSHINGS,NEW TIRES.NEW STEERING WHEEL,U JOINTS + MORE. THE ENGINE WAS REBUILT SOME YEARS BACK, I CLEANED IT AND INSTALLED NEW GASKETS, PLUG WIRES, REBUILT THE CARB, POR ON THE EXHAUST. THE TRANS AND TRANSFERCASE HAVE BEEN GONE THRU. THE BODY IS THE BIGGEST PART LEFT, IT IS ALL SAND BLASTED, I HAVE NEW FRONT SIDE PANELS, THE REAR NEEDS TO FINISHED, PARTS ARE AVAILABLE. It seems nice enough, though not sure why they’d pull off the original steering wheel and put the sport wheel on it.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $4000
(10/27/2010) There’s been plenty of work done on this rig.
“Up for sale, like the title says, 1947 Willys Jeep CJ2A. It has been an on going project but it is time to let go. Spring over axle lift with American Racing rims and 35″ tires. Full size spare. 6 point roll cage, bucket seats, with 4 point harnesses. The axles have been swapped. Dana 44 in the rear and is locked with a mini spool and the front is a Dana 30 open with disc brakes. The motor is a Ford 289 V8 out of a 66 mustang, runs great. Front half of the frame has been boxed to handle the power/torque. Transmission is a T-18 from a 70’s ford. Low 6.32 ratio 1st gear. Transfer case is a Dana 18 twin stick, adapted with an advanced adapters kit. 4Lo 1st gear this thing crawls and does great! Custom drive shafts. Full soft top with doors. Like I said this is a project….right now it runs and drives great, however, the passenger seat needs a bracket built, and I had to cut the floor board for the transmission to fit so some of the front floor board will need replaced. I am currently working on fabbing both but it wouldnt take much to button up. This toy has plenty of power and could easily have more. I will attach a picture but if you want more feel free to email and ask, I have plenty.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $17,500.
Fred asked me to list his Wagon for sale. It is also listed over at the oldwillysforum. There have been a variety of comments about the price over there.

Mark has 2 Stainless Kits still available at $5000 or both for $8000, which readers have likely seen listed previously.
However, this time I got curious, so I did some math. I went to 4WD.com and priced out the cost of buying steel versions of the same parts, just to see a price comparison. Here is the result:
$3400 for non willys stamped CJ-3A tub (includes fenders, body , tailgate, windshield frame)
$361 hood
$246 grille
$150 roll bar
$213 seat frame
$213 seat frame
$300 bumpers
$700 White Vinyl Top
$5583 total
Not included in that total are other parts that are included in the stainless kit:
$? Frame
$? Grab bars
$? Other parts
So, $5000 is looking like a pretty good price for all those parts, especially given they are stainless steel. To see how they look together, you can see 1 of several stainless jeeps Mark assembled below.
“For sale is a COMPLETE stainless steel cj2a jeep kit MINUS DRIVETRAIN. These kits were imported in from the Phillipines years ago, I have built 5 of them and lost interest in the last 3 so instead of them sitting in the corner of my garage for another 10 yrs I have decided to sell them. I sold one last year and now have 2 left.
The kit includes: mild steel frame, stainless tub, grill, fenders, hood, tailgate, windshield frame, seat frames, rollbar, grab bars, and TONS of other stainless accessories. the top is white vinyl.
Asking $5,000 CASH each, I will not ship but am willing to crate and help load when picked-up or if buyer arranges all the shipping details i will help load. Attached is a older pic, I can email more (having problem uploading them). Please feel free to PM or call with any questions, Mark 248-818-8560 Located in Oakland County, MI”

UPDATE: Jim noted this might be a scam. So, I went to double check the link this morning and discovered the content had completely changed, except for the email address. This one has me a little perplexed. The add originally listed the below jeep at $2900. See comments for Jim’ comment.
“I have owned this jeep for about 6 years. It is a virtual frame up restoration of a 1954 Military M170 Frontline Ambulance to great running condition. Every part examined, restored or replaced on this jeep. Engine rebuilt with less than 20 hours running time on it. Rebuilt radiator, NOS carburetor, NOS fuel pump, complete new Vintage wiring harness, NOS lights, power switch, steering linkage, new brake shoes, emergency break system, rebuilt transmission and transfer case, hubs repacked/rebuilt, New military tires, new exhaust, exhaust manifold, NOS cross over tube, water proof plug wires, accelerator peddle and linkages, cables, speedometer cable, NOS fuel tank, NOS passenger seat, etc., etc., etc.
This vehicle can be a daily driver. It tops out at about 55 mph, loves 35 mph. I rebuilt this jeep for our kids on the ranch and it had to be absolutely reliable to start and run because we left it unstarted for weeks at a time and everyone wanted to drive it when we go out there. I promise you this vehicle is in excellent running condition.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3000.
This runs and drives. It appears pretty stock, though the bumper is very thrashed. This might make a good restoration.
“A project jeep, all orginial condition, I drove around the neighborhood 3 years ago and now stored under a roof. Still runs. No rust holes, solid floor. No title. Jeep manuals and extra parts are included. Tires are 10 years old, including 2 spare wheels. Sell as a whole package, $3000 firm.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay
“Frame off restoration in 2003/2004 (completed with my M37) – with all 24V parts (mostly OEM). I found this Jeep at a Machine shop in Tucson painted orange and converted to 12V – I spent over a full year converting it back to 24V and restoring it to Military condition. I have many extra parts that I will throw in with this purchase. I enjoy 4 – wheeling and this vehicle has always been the hit of the trips – it is fun to watch the guys with the expensive rock crawlers come and marvel at the M38. Veterans Day parades have also been a great time in the Jeep with my sons. This vehicle is restored to motor pool condition and has had its share of off road adventures (see picture of catching air with the boys in the seats smiling ear to ear! This is not a trailer Queen – It has a strong engine and transmission. All canvas in GREAT condition. This Jeep needs a good home with someone to drive it and enjoy it as much as I have.
This jeep needs: horn does not work (used to but I disconnected it when it got stuck on), needs wiper motors and wipers (never needed in AZ) and slight dent in rear tailgate. There is no canvas top, spare tire in excellent condition. Minor leaks underneath but normal for any military vehicle.”
This looks pretty good for the price.
“1948 Willy’s Jeep Overland …. New top … New roll bar….Engine runs excellant… 4 wheel good…New clutch. Original condition…Has some body rust. 785-213-1480”
