“Hey, I have a 48 willys CJ2A I need a new front leaf spring for. I would like to buy them in a pair but I would take a single pack if thats what I can find. From what I can find they are all a 7 leaf pack from 1946-1964 and they will all fit”
1962 CJ-3B New York State eBay
Is that a stock drain coming out of the gas cap? I’ve never notice that on any other jeep.
“For your consideration, a Nice Willys 1953 CJ-3B, registered, in great running condition. Recently outside was painted up in Korean war military olive green. The Four cylinder F-head engine with 3 speed transmission has recently been Rebuilt with new pistons, rings, bearings, head milled,etc..(have reciepts). Original Carter Carburetor has been rebuilt too. Steering is tight, brakes work fine…Warn locking hubs installed.
Has original factory Jeep metal cab with fiberglass roof, and sliding doors installed. (all removable)..
Tires are excellent condition mud snow type.. All head and signal lights work…Overall a good jeep to restore to perfection, or just use as is for driving, plowing..etc. Please note, there are a couple sheet metal repairs in the front floor, and body rear, but nothing structural. Shows 48k miles on working speedo..”

1947 Jeeprod CJ-2A Saugerties, NY **SOLD**
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay
This was on ebay, but the bidding was cancelled. I thought it was an interest approach to building a jeeprod. Both the body and frame are home built.
“You are bidding on a 1947 Jeep Streetrod with a homebuilt frame and body. It has a speedway front suspension, with a 4-link coil over rear suspension. It is powered by a 350 chevy bored 30 over, a 2 speed powerglide automatic trans and has 308 rear gears. It has Jegs wheels and new tires. Everything on the Jeep is either new or has been rebuilt. It rides and handles good and is fun to drive. I have put about 500 miles on it since the build with no problems.”
1951 CJ-3A Klamath Falls, OR **SOLD**

1948 CJ-2A Simpson, SC **SOLD**
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay
(08/15/2011) As the seller realized, it is never good to find a main bearing in the oil pan. This has the wrong tailgate, too.
“I have to get rid of my Willys to pay off my Rubicon, times are tuff. This is a 1948 Willys CJ2A it has a good deal of rust on some parts of the body, some of the pictures show the rust. I bought this car to restore it and add it to the Jeeps I own, but now I need the money to keep my Rubicon. The tires are not really any good, the motor is not in the best shape I took the oil pan off to see if it was a good idea to try and start it but I found what looks like the main bearing in the oil pan so I stopped work on it. I cant tell alot about the jeep, I think the seats I have for it are not correct, I dont think he gave me the correct gas tank. I do have a clear title, if the Jeep goes for over a thousand dollers I will throw in some extra parts I have for it, New wheel brake cylnders, Data plates etc.. If it sells for over a thousand dollers I will deliver it within 150 miles of area code 29680.”
1943 MB Westminster, MD **SOLD**
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $8500
The seller specializes in the rebuilding of WWII jeeps, though they do other work too. You can learn more at Hanson Mechanical.
“Refurbished 1943 Willys MB (title says Ford GPW but this IS a Willys MB.)
-1952 Kaiser straight six well mounted with military aircleaner. 110 or more compression on all 6 cylinders.
-T90 transmission with slight leak.
-Brand new military tires.
-Brand new battery,
-Brand new beachwood seat cushions (includes back seat cushion though I do not have back seat frame.)
-2/3 of wiring redone and carefully with solder.
-Bondo and fiberglass removed from body, all repairs with steel, lead filler, and brazing.
-Body stripped to bare metal.
-New Army Jeep Parts WW2 semi gloss paint.
-Original combat rim spare.
-New safety glass.
-90% of this project was done with original parts.
The Jeep looks great and we are very proud of it. Originally I bought it to break up for parts but then it ran so well we decided to save it. We stripped the body of bondo (up to 2 inches in a couple spots) and replaced all bondo and fiberglass with steel. Whole body was wirebrushed. Has incorrect rear tail lights but they sit where the reflectors should be and blend in. Someone cut a tailgate in it once, the next owner bolted a heavy panel in place across the entire rear. The large panel is not noticeable, is thick and strong, and cosmetically okay so we left that in. Has invasion star stencil along with a new number (its rebirth date), and USA markings
What it needs, speedo cable, possibly a new temperature guage, and I have not figured out the gas guage yet. The toolboxes were welded shut, and the metal was replaced over the shock towers with metal from another Jeep by a previous owner, and while shock tower repair is solid it is not cosmetically pleasing.
The vehicle runs great offroad and will pull a house down with the Kaiser 6 and T90. I have only run it short distance on hardtop.
Two months work were put into rescuing this vehicle, it would be nice for anything from parades, to reenactments, to hauling logs out of the woods. I rebuild vehicles to be durable and usable.”
Saturday Night Update
So, I go away for one night (hanging out in Yakima)…. though a fun night … and the search site (jaxed) that I have used faithfully for 4 years to find old willys & jeeps for sale across the US receives a cease and desist letter from Craigslist lawyers. I have seen that happen to other sites, but somehow jaxed could always get around it, until now.
While I can still search through a mashed up collection of individual craigslist sites through SearchTempest, searching nation-wide will be more difficult (or at least time consuming using SearchTempest). So, I will spend a day or two trying to figure out another method. One way or another I will have updates Sunday night.
In the meantime, I finished draft 3 of my book, which involves jeeps and more. The reviews I have received are extremely positive, so I hope to complete one more draft and then have it ready sometime in September for ebooks (real books will take longer, but I hope will come at some point too). Here’s a draft of the book cover:

Hanson Mechanical: Jeep Restoration and Education — Westminster, Md
Merlin from Hanson Mechanical emailed me today thanking me for posting his restored MB for sale. It turns out, his old Willys restoration shop has quite a story. What fun this site is to manage sometimes as unexpected stories continue to turn up, unexpectedly. Thanks for sharing Merlin! You can contact Merlin through his website if you need some work done.
I will let Merlin tell it, “A small group of graduates from the high school I used to teach at found me after I took another job and they have put an extensive amount of time into my business just to help me and to learn more about Jeep restoration. They range in age from 18 to 22 and it is wonderful knowing individuals that age are interested in learning restoration, welding, brazing and leading. They have whole rants dedicated to their hatred of Bondo :). So far they have restored and electrified a 1955 Metropolitan, restored my father’s 1956 Porsche, refurbished the Kaiser/ Willys MB, inventoried Major Barton’s workshops (read about Major John Barton here), and now are working through an endless line of MB’s and GPW’s.
One, named Vlad, from Belorus, knows all the metal details quite well now and evaluates anything we look at rescuing. He considers doing lead work on a Jeep a relaxing experience. Vlad’s girlfriend, Kelsey, is an artist who helps with anything she can and is an extraordinary individual. “Izzy”, who used to manage my school theater stage crew, is our computer and organizational whiz. My main mechanic, John Ingram, is a former music teacher who specialises in restoring Rolls Royces at the RR museum in PA. He evaluates every Jeep mechanically and is responsible for our decision to refurbish the one with the Kaiser 6 (truly an early hotrod).
They are an eclectic crew (who often play things like Swedish techno music in the background) who are dedicated to preserving our mechanical past, and doing it right. I am beyond impressed with the group of them and thankful that they are so dedicated. Anything that promotes the business brings them more work and thus makes them happy and helps pay for college. Vlad’s five year old brother told me that he dreams of working for me by age 10, and he often comes out with Vlad and finds ways to help. I hope someday there is enough business that they can run the shop for me while I keep teaching.
In the Jeep section are original archives from Aberdeen Proving Ground. The same goes for every other section as we search out original archival materials for all vehicles in my dwindling collection. We also will be republishing Major Barton’s book on Jeep tools through lulu.com, prceeds will go to his daughter’s college fund.”
Below are some random images of jeeps, the kids, and some from the history section.
Below are a couple stills from a Jeep Film.

Flattie Project Clinton, UT **SOLD**
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.
It appears the builder lengthened the body but forgot (or not) that the top would be too short to fit. So, naturally, the solution was to bend the windshield back.
“Built CJ2! The body has been lengthened and the fenders widened. It sits on two Dana 44 front axles giving it front and rear wheel steering, warn hubs, turbo 400 trans, 13in wide rims, link and spring suspension, equipped with drum brakes front and rear. There is a hole in the hood where the air cleaners from the previous motor poked through. This rig has been garage kept for the last 30 yrs and properly coated to protect it from rust. The gas tank has been relocated to the inside rear of the vehicle. NOTE: This is a non running vehicle there is an engine included. The vehicle is located in Clinton Utah buyer arranges transport, vehicle does come with a tow bar. !!Engine included but not installed!! The engine is a Chevrolet 327 from a 1966 corvette that was rebuilt 10200 miles ago.”
