UPDATE: Price bumped to $4800
(08/29/2011) I’m not sure if that is a paint design or a patch along the driver’s side.

“1948 jeep CJ-2A

This looks like a CJ-3A which has an updated DJ-3A body.
“Up for auction is another one of our farm vehicles we have decided to sale. This is a 1953 Willys Jeep and from the best I can tell it is a model CJ3A. We have had it for many years and used it to pull one of our irrigation pumps. It has a four cylinder motor and is four wheel drive. It has not been driven in a few years but should crank up with little more than a charged battery and some fresh gas. The odometer reading is 70718 and it has a clear title. This jeep can be used like it is or can be restored to its original condition. This is an “as is” sale with the buyer is responsible for picking up or arranging to have the vehicle transported to their location. Buyer to pay a non-refundable deposit of $200.00 through Paypal within 24 hours of auctions end. Remaining balance to be paid by cashiers check or cash in person within 3 business days of auctions end. Serious bidders only please.”

Just a few updates tonight . . . I might be wrong, but looking at the slope of the driver’s entrance, it almost looks like a Willys MA curve. The frame and front clip appear MBish though. The photo was taken in the Santa Rita Hills of Southern California in May of 2008 by “ManDog”.

Compare it to this shot of a MA from the WillysMA website.
UPDATE: Was listed at $1492 … **SOLD**
Gerald is selling his GPW.
“1942 Ford GPW Military Jeep s/n 66717 Delivery date 9-21-42. Great candidate for a restoration project. Original frame, bodyand drivetrain are all there but will need attention.
Original grab handles, spare tire carrier, steering wheel, seat frames, headlight buckets and many of the small parts have been removed and are solid. They are F script.
In fact, Body, frame and engine block s/n all match dash plate. That is very rare! This will be it’s first rebuild. It was in the United Kingdom in 58 and was titled in Pennsylvania in 59. So it came back home and must of seen WWII action.
This is a survivor who needs to be saved. Breaking up the parts would be a shame. It’s had many coats of paint, exposure and a partial disassembly. And yes rust, but there is plenty to work with.
I’ve never had this Jeep running so operating condition is unknown but I’m sure its had quite a life. Don’t think this is a cream puff. She has seen some action and will need lot’s of attention.
This was one of the earlies Jeeps made from the Willys design and is almost 70 years old. Let’s keep this Veteran Rolling.
Local pick-up and cash talks. Thanks”
