Andy shared this sign, originally with neon. This would have been an early post-war sign.

From 2015: Africa USA, was part of a theme-park movement in the late 1950s that included New York’s Freedomland, Disneyland, Wisconsin’s Fort Dells, and others. By 1959, these parks were collectively generating revenue of $2 billion.
There is a feature article about these parks in the August 1, 1960, issue of Life Magazine. The picture below is from that article. You can take a ‘virtual’ jeep-train tour of Africa USA here (don’t expect much).
This article appeared in the December 1955 issue of Willys News. That’s the jeep train behind the animals.

“”REDUCED” Titled as 1947, probably a late 50’s, Willys Panel Wagon with 4-cylinder Hurricane motor, 2wd, 3-speed on the column with a B-W overdrive. I got it on a trade, looks like they did a good job with the restoration. It’s solid, runs and drives great, everything works. A real head turner. I installed front disc brakes for safety, new rear drum brake shoes, new glass in doors, new carburetor and a backup camera. Decals can easily be removed. Interested in TRADING for a mild v-8 vehicle that is HWY drivable long distance. Will consider 50s – early 90s chevy trucks, prefer auto trans with a/c. Must have a clear title, not just a bill of sale. Located in Bismarck, AR. Three three seven 2630696″
UPDATE: **Status Unknown** Was $9750.
This beautiful truck needs an engine. Thanks to Glenn for sharing it.
“This well documented 1948 Jeep Willy’s pickup was acquired in 2017 from an enthusiast who was meticulous in his maintaining of the vehicle. I purchased this truck as a marketing piece for my charitable organization, and unfortunately the rod blew. I am not mechanically skilled, nor am I inclined to have a replacement motor installed; we have acquired a modern version of the truck to serve our needs. The new owner who installs a replacement motor will have a beautiful, aesthetically pleasing antique truck to enjoy for years to come.”
Looks well maintained.

“First civilian Jeep after WW2. New battery, fuel tank, fuel pump, spark plugs and wires, solenoid, rebuilt starter and carburetor. Starts first spin and 4 cylinder flathead runs like a clock. Brakes, 4WD, clutch and transmission and tires are solid. Ready for the ranch or hunting lease”
Toms shared this nicely restored CJ-3A. My only two very minor quibbles (given the price) is that it is missing the gutter where the hood meets the body, it’s got an incorrect oil bracket for a 3A (again, minor complaints).

“Aluminum top for a willys cj2a. Good condition for age. Could use some plexi glass window replacement and a door handle repair ( easy fab job ) located in illinois.”
