What’s not to love about this crazy contraption. It even comes with a safely rope on the passenger side and a 2×4 that stabilizes the radiator.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $7500.
(06/28/2012) It’s got some unusual updates.
“This Willys MB originally came off the assembly line in July of 1944! After all these years, it has been restored and back on the road — and off the road as well. The rear end body panels, roll bar and bumpers are all custom. As is the dash, including several new instrument gauges and the front seats. A 90hp 1971 Ford SOHC engine that is in very good running condition powers the T-90 transmission that has been very recently overhauled.
Whether your Sunday driving on country roads, cruising the beach or exploring the backcountry with the four-wheel drive, this restored classic is a blast to drive.
Other notes:
It is a 1944 Willys Jeep, the original was a military model MB. It has been rebuilt with some parts from a 1946 Willys.
The original flathead 4 motor was 60 hp, to the ’71 Ford motor packs more punch.
The 4WD is fully functional – the lever to the extreme left is the shifter, of the two small levers, the left engages/disengages the front wheels – I left it in the 2WD position and the right operates 4WD Hi, Neutral and 4WD Low – I left it in the Hi position.
The transmission overhaul was less than 100 miles ago.
Shocks have a few hundred miles on them (same time as last oil change).
The tires are older and off of my other Jeep – I do have one of the original rims that I will include if desired.
I also have a speedo cable.
The parking brake will work (new shoes) but it needs a lever installed first.
During the last restoration, I put in a larger, poly gas tank that is properly vented. It is a marine grade poly and the sending unit doesn’t play nice with the fuel gauge on the speedo … it just needs a marine grade gauge with the same resistance.”
UPDATE: Price now $2500
(03/04/2012) Runs and drives.
“Runs great
original engine
manual transmistion
new stiring wheel
Just needs a new paint job”
Here’s a nice looking race flattie that appears on the cover of Offroad Magazine and taken at Gravelrama. Gravelrama is held in Ohio and has been since its inception in 1971. The Magazine is currently listed on eBay for $15.
Here’s a nice looking CJ-3B Hill Climber and Drag Jeep. You can see more vintage photos here.
This ad was featured in a 1952 Modern Mechanix Magazine advertisement. It advertises a remote control jeep that “goes forward . . reverse . . left . . right. It’s called a “electra-JEEP”.
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1300.
The seller lists this as a 2A, but looks to me to be a 3A. This looks like an excellent project for the price.
“I have a 1949 Willys Jeep available for sale. It runs, but the fuel pump needs to be rebuilt (we were able to confirm that the engine is good by delivering gas straight into the carburetor). It also currently does not have brakes, although I have a brand new master cylinder and brand new wheel cylinders to go with it–these parts just need to be installed. It comes with a snowplow, but the hydraulic system for it needs to be overhauled. My grandfather found the Jeep in a salvage yard a number of years back and brought it back to life so that he could use it to haul wood around on our family farm. However, he passed away several years ago and the Jeep hasn’t been used much since then. This is a good project Jeep–everything is there; it just needs some work to get it back into good condition, and we don’t have the time to put into it. We will be demolishing the farmhouse and garage where it is currently being stored, so we’re forced to get rid of it. Other issues I can see with the vehicle: the windshield is cracked, the cooling system probably needs to be flushed, and the interior needs reupholstering.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was listed at $135.
HOG spotted this and forwarded it, noting it is very rare.
