• CATEGORIES: Willys Trucks, Willys Wagons • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3500.

I find the black truck interesting. It reminds me of a few other ‘Tender’ trucks I’ve seen around. I have one brochure from Israel that identifies them as a model type at some point.

“$3500. for both, They both run. I have 1 title and 1 number plate. “55” Wagon is original. “47” Truck has a 5.0 out of “91” Lincoln, Frame is “91” Ford F-150.”

“For Sale an original Koenig Tub Extender for sale. If you’ve ever seen one before, you’re squarely in the minority. ” ***I had this listed 2 weeks ago. It attracted almost 50 watchers but no bids at $400. I have nothing to compare it to. So I will let the market set the price at $200 and above.***
Extension bed or extension body for vintage Willys CJ Jeeps. During the Jeep craze following WWII, Willys and several other companies were making all sorts of Jeep accessories. One of the coolest was the Extension Body or Extend-A-Bed. Some were made “knocked down” for assembly by the owner. Others were made “welded up” and ready to bolt on. This bed extension is “welded up” and installs with only 8 bolts. I do not know who, when or where this bed extension was made. There is no maker’s tag present. The floor and sides are formed from one solid piece of heavy sheet steel turned up at the sides. It took a heavy metal brake to form this steel. The body is braced and welded. All bolt holes to mount to the jeep are present.

1957 Pickup (Tender?) & 1958 Wagon Buhl, Id Make Offer

• CATEGORIES: Willys Trucks, Willys Wagons • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

The seller refers to the wagon as a ‘panel’, so this is either not a panel wagon or it might be a Parkway Conversion Panel.  Can anyone clarify that?  Frank pointed out the truck might be a Tender.

“I have 2 Willy’s Jeeps for sale 1 is a 57 pick-up and the other is a 58 Panel, Both run but each has it’s own issue’s…They both have the flat head 6, the panel motor purrs like a kitten…The panel body is in excellent shape the floor is in great condition and it has the PTO ..The pick-up runs and is driveable ..But I was goin to use it for parts for the panel I can explain the reason’s for this ..I am selling them as a pair … will not split them up …I don’t have a shop to work on them and Would like to get them to somebody that has the means to do with what is needed ..for additional information give me a call 208-410-7676…Scott”

“I have a flat fender bed extender I would like to sell. I’m not sure if it was manufactured by a company, military, or some home made job but its well built and riveted together. I’m sure it would look great on the back of somebodies jeep.  The inside opening/storage area measures about 19″ deep by 35 1/2″ and about 14″ tall.   I would really like to see it to a good home.”

1951 Tender? Mounds View, Mn eBay

• CATEGORIES: Willys Trucks • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

Here’s the Tender that started it all.

It was this Tender that came on the market by the previous owner that got me asking the question, what is this thing?  So, it is with some irony that Bob forwarded this Ad to me and asked whether this isn’t a modified wagon rather than an actual Tender.  The thing is, there is one other just like this that was for sale.  You can view it here. So, I’m not as sure that it was a custom job.

“1951 Willys overland panel wagon that has been chopped into a pick up. Runs and drives, needs master cylinder, and front fenders bolted back on, needs new tires or tubes, 26,000 original miles, 4 wheel drive all fully functional and tight. Has currant registration and title in hand.”

The Tender Scarlette — an e-Jeep from France

• CATEGORIES: Features • TAGS: , This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE:  I visited the Tender Website … there is a long video on the front page showing all aspects of this 4wd e-vehicle. Truth be told, they had me at “sexy french woman hops in the front seat and takes off”

I ran across this post and image of what appears to be a small, electric jeep on a forum based in the philippines.  After more searching, I discovered this e-vehicle is sold in France and found out more about it from autoblog.com, which has covered this in a couple articles (here and here).

From the autoblog post, here is some information:  “You can have it in two flavors, which depends on your driver’s license. If you are 16 and have a basic motorcycle license (called A1 in Europe) you can drive one of this cars which is homologated as a quadricycle. Performance is then quite discreet, limited to 45 km/h (slightly more than 30 mph) and it can’t be driven on highways. However, if you have a regular car license (B1), the car can run up to 80 km/h and can run on highways. The engines can yield 4 kW, 8 kW or 12.8 kW of power depending on the configuration of the vehicle.

The car is a real 4WD with four motors, one for each wheel. The electricity is stored in the floor in 12 lead-acid batteries that store 48 V and 240 Amperes each. It’s enough to drive the car up to 100 km (60 miles). Lead acid batteries were used because they are reliable, have a decent life span (claimed to be from 50,000 to 70,000 km) and low cost of substitution (around 2,200 EUR) when they do die out.. The cost of the car is between 10,000 and 15,000 EUR, depending on options.”

Or found this Tander for sale (thanks Or!).  The exchange rate puts the price on this at about $10,000.  I still a bit shocked I haven’t seen any original literature for these yet.  That’s reminds me .. I need to build a special page for these ….

Tender Discussion

• CATEGORIES: Unusual, Willys Trucks, Willys Wagons • TAGS: , , This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE 3: The eWillys Israel bureau is hot on the trail of the ‘Tender’.  Another set of pics was accompanied by the following update.

Here’s what he Googled in Hebrew: “A man named Efraim Eilin had a vision of an Israeli car industry. In 1950 he made partnership with Kaizer Enterprises and in 1951 he opened the Kaizer-Eilin  assembly plant. The plant[S] made more then 100,000 cars [Kaiser Frazer, Dofin Renolt, kontesa , Lark Studibaker…] and at some point the plant export was 28% of all the Israeli exports! I couldn’t  find info on the Willys  except that they made the panel, the wagon and the pick-up [we say: ‘Tender’].  All the body parts were made in Israel in another plant in Israel; so, I guess that the trucks  used the low part of the panel/wagon + special design for the back as an original Kaiser-Eilin. The Willys had 2 engines: 2199 cc 4 cylinder  and 3770 cc 6 c‘”

And here’s a special Willys Police Wagon (here’s the page for our Hebrew readers):

As I note in the comments to this post, a couple days ago I did a number of searches (and found some interesting truck sites that I will include in upcoming posts), but I found no references to the ‘Tender’ or ‘high back’ trucks.  If anyone knows anything about them, please let me know.

Various Updates

• CATEGORIES: Features This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

It’s been another busy month here at eWillys HQ, though little involved jeeps. That said, I did get the race jeep cleaned up and the thermostat replaced on Sunday. I”m hoping to test the thermostat out later today, once my eyes recover from being dilated.

My eyes were dilated, because I had my cataract consultation this morning; they saw no problems doing the surgery on both eyes, so I will be proceeding forward on that! Having worn glasses since the 9th grade, I can’t tell you how excited I am to be able to have 20/20 farsightedness! My eyes are pretty wonky at this point, with many of these updates done with just one less-than-perfect eye (and the other terrible). I am positive I’m making mistakes.

On the home front, we did minor decorations for halloween (no one comes by anyone). Ann had the brilliant, simple idea, to turn our house into a ghoul. It looks best from the road:

2024-10-29-halloween-house

This is how it looks closer up and less dark (a bit more hokey):.

2024-10-29-halloween-house2

Halloween decorations will come down soon, quickly replaced with Xmas decorations.

One afternoon a couple days ago Ann and I heard a bang. We didn’t really think anyone of it until I wandered out to shut our driveway gate, when I encountered a beat up mailbox. It look like someone used it for batting practice (a quick tour of the neighborhood reveal a couple more smashed boxes). Having some body tools around, I brought the box back to life and it looks nearly as good as it did before, just with a little more character. At someone point I’ll add a barrier to stop this from happening again.

2024-10-24-mailbox

After some tender love:

2024-11-01-mailbox1 2024-11-01-mailbox2

Ann finally harvested her Poblano peppers, so I spent some time roasting them, skinning and de-seeding them, before freezing them. They’ll make some yummy meals.

2024-10-23-peppers

Apart from all that, fall chores have taken priority, such as falling leaves, shutting down irrigations systems, along with much more. I’m sure most of you can relate!

Happy Halloween everyone!

Seems there’s value in this stock 2A. It includes a Koenig(?) half cab and a bed extender.

“1947 Willy’s jeep! It has the original drivetrain in it. Flathead 4 cylinder with a manual transmission and t-case. It ran great until it spun a main bearing last spring so it doesn’t run now and I don’t have the time to get it there at the moment. I don’t need to sell it but would rather have someone fix it then it just sit. It comes with an extra hood, grill, bed extension, half cab, transfer case, one spare wheel, and some other parts like a front bumper.
I’m asking $3,000 and have a clean clear title in hand.”
