Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. The sellers claims this is from 1942, which would make it a pretty early model. The shovel on the passenger side is interesting.

“I am 63 yrs old and have had this 1951 Willys Jeep for 40 yrs or so. It no longer runs as we pulled some parts off of it to be replaced. I became disabled and never got to replace anything and this jeep has been sitting for over 5 yrs now. Probably closer to 7 or 8. Anyway, the motor was very sound when we parked it and the transmission and four wheel drive was all in good order. The brakes needed to be replaced as did the gas tank. This never happened and even though I would like to put it all back together again, it’s probably not going to happen now. I understand I should probably be able to command this type of money for it even if just used for parts. I am really in need of cash right now and may take less. Maybe. Please email back if interested. This would make a good project for someone. We did cover it with tarp and camper shell to spare it from the elements.”

THE PAINT ORG WAS A CHEVY BLUE THEN OD GREEN AND THE OREN FIRE TRUCK CO PAINTED IT A RED THE GRILL IS PAINTED SILVER THE SIREN IS NEWER THAN THE TRUCK ALL NAME PLATES ARE IN PLACE OUTSIDE CONTROLS STILL WORK TRUCK HAS SUCTION HOSE 2IN AND 4 1/2 IN ALONG WITH MISC HOSES AND NOZZLES. THE MILEAGE OF THE TRUCK IS 8383 HAS A 216 CU IN ENGINE GOOD OIL PRESSURE AND TEMP GAUGE WORKS ALSO. THE TRUCK NEED TO HAVE THE INGNATION SWITCH WIRE REPLACE UP TO THE AMP GAUGE AND IT WILL CHARGE.”

“I have a 1944 ford gpw it is not completely original it has a willys hurricane engine the tool boxes have been welded and a tailgate has been added. but I do have clear title! I was not aware of the mods I am not famillar with military vehicles. I am sure this is worth it to the right person. it does not run needs ring and pinion installed in the rear. I probably should not have bought it but had big dreams! I have extra parts I will include with the sale!”

“The Trailer, Dump, 2 Wheel, 1/2 Ton Airborne was manufactured during WW II by Converto Manufacturing Company. It was designed for use with jeeps and light trucks for hauling tools, equipment, and other supplies in support of Airborne Engineer operations. This trailer was distinguished by having the ability to tilt and dump its contents (for example, sand or dirt) through a rear tailgate.
The single axle, two wheel, all-steel trailer was rated for a 1/2 ton payload. It had a military-standard lunette eye for attachment to a pintle hook on the towing vehicle. A landing leg (stanchion) is provided to hold the trailer level when not attached to a towing vehicle. For dumping, two levers are operated either by a helper at the trailer or via a rope pull from the driver or passenger position in the towing vehicle. One lever (Tailgate Trip) unlocks the tailgate and the other (Dump Release) activates raising the body to the dumping angle. A body lock, when engaged, prevents the trailer from dumping.”
