Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. From early Monday through Wednesday Ann and I will be camping at the Ohanapecosh campground in Mount Rainier National Park. There was no cell service when we were there last year and I expect the same lack of service this year. So, I won’t be answering emails or doing updates for a few days.
The book is done . . . now just have to build the PDF, order a proof, and do some marking stuff. 🙂

The frame rails are in good shape but the rear cross member will have to be replaced. I tried my best to give you all of the attributes and fall backs of this adorable jeep.”

Listed as a 1942 and a CJ-3A, the body and windshield appear to be M-38 or repro.

“Hard top and doors for Willys jeep. This is an aluminum top and doors made by Metro Engineering. It is a civilian version of the military “cab enclosure”. This model is an “arctic top”. The top is in good shape with all glass, but rear window is cracked. The front was modified to fit a different windshield frame, so 2 corners and the nose are missing. Some fabrication would be needed to install with whatever w/s frame you’re using.. The w/s frame pictured is included. Should fit any of the flatfenders maybe others. I am willing to deliver up to 10 miles away and maybe further with gas money. $150 O.B.O.
This includes an inline flathead 6.

It hasn’t run in 25 years, but there might be some value here.
“This is a complete 1953 Willy’s CJ3B. I bought it intending to restore it, but never got to it. It has all original differentials, transfer case transmission and engine. The differentials and transfer case are in good order. The engine ran 25 years ago when someone last drove the vehicle. The top of the transmission had been removed and the inside is very rusted. Likely the transmission needs replaced. The body is pretty good. The back part of the tub where the back seat sits is rusted. There is surface rust in other places. The vehicle is rough, but restorable, and almost all there.
Asking 1200.00 or best offer. Might consider a trade, but would prefer cash.”

(07/29/2013) The sides panels have been replaced, so this likely had rust at one time. It looks solid from a distance.
