Given the winter weather, Colin thought this would be an appropriate photograph to post. He writes:
I have attached a photo taken in December, 1967, in Holbrook, AZ. Arizona received record snowfall over the entire state, with Flagstaff receiving about 8 feet of snow over a 40 hour period. The snow just about paralyzed the state. The photo shows Arizona Highway Patrol Officer Paul Palmer sitting on the hood of Highway Patrol Officer Carlton Hill’s 1959 Jeep Station wagon. Both Paul and Carlton (as well as myself) are retired and Carlton still has that Jeep wagon. In that storm, Holbrook had about 3 ½ feet of snow. In southern Arizona, where I was, we had about the same, 3 ½ feet.
Last weekend Hugh and his father enjoyed the last bits of good weather in their jeep. As you can see, they found a fun hill to climb and photograph. Hugh reports the cold has engulfed the midwest and, as of Friday, there was a foot of snow at his dad’s place.
Old Trucks Babanagno posted the photo below on their Facebook Page. They have even more vintage photos at their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Old-Trucks-Babanango/422556771112707

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.
Here’s a nice looking CJ-3A that starts at a fair price.
“Hello, up for auction is my 1953 Willys CJ3A. This Jeep is an excellent example of “survivor” and is mostly original. I am the 3rd owner of this Willys. I purchased it from the 2nd owner in 2012. He owned the Jeep from 1962 to 2012. I was told the Willys was owned by the State of Maryland from 1952 to 1962 but I have no documentation of this. The mileage currently shows as 51017 and is the original mileage. The Willys is a 1953 according serial number but is titled as a 1952, this is very common. The build date falls in November of ’52, often new vehicles were titled as the year they were sold in. The title is clear and in my name. The Jeep is mostly unmolested other than a repaint some years back by the 2nd owner. The paint is close to the original color. There is rust but the body is very solid. Sections of the hat channels, body sides where the floor meet them, and the rear panels are the worst of the rust. The floors and tool box botom are remarkably solid. If properly cared for the body will last for many years. The frame is solid and shows no cracking. This Jeep is mechanically sound and very reliable. The Jeep has a set of dealer installed vintage lock out hubs, an original grill screen and a factory accessory Pintle Hook. Also included with the Willys is the Witco black vinyl soft top. I have put roughly 4000 miles on it while I have owned it. I have gone through the Willys and serviced everything.
This might be a good price.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $4000.
It’s a lefty. Besides a PTO, this appears to have a very practical parking brake solution. Isn’t that a DJ-5 brake?
“1948 Classic Willy’s Jeep…original 4 cylinder engine with a new carb…runs well…needs brakes and TLC…great restoration project. I just don’t have the time for the project. Stored indoors…previous owner modified the suspension, wheels and tires, added a roll-bar, rear seat and tailgate extension, and tow bar…With some brake and electrical work on the lights, she would be a great off-roader…or restore her to military glory as was my plan…”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $26,000
“1955 Willy’s Wagon restored as a 1951. If the pictures look good to you send me and email and I will get in contact with my father, he can tell you about it better than I can on a Craig’s list post. We also have a second engine that could be purchased if you would like a backup.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3400.
Runs and drives.
“1947 CJ2a in really good original condition! Last owner did a lot of work…body off clean to up of the frame, body work, 12 volt conversion with all new gages, carb.,new clutch, ring gear, mini 12 volt starter! 4cyl engine, 3 speed trans! Receipts for work the previous owner did and I have the paperwork for the clutch, ring gear and starter!
Four wheel drive and hi/lo works fine! Original 16 inch Willys wheels!
Overall ready to work or play…restore…or??
It is NOT a new Jeep…yes…there will be things to tweak, change, etc…that’s what makes a 66 year old Jeep too cool!
But it climbs like a goat and starts in All kinds of weather!”
This could make a cute fugly jeep with just a few changes.
“1950 Willys Jeep cj3a. Very poor body but nice frame, complete drivetrain, good engine, and transmission just needs a new body. It is a great restoration project. It’s ugly but it’s a part of our history and has a clean title. I will deliver it on my trailer. It is ready for a new home! This is a real barn find.
