I’ve seen similar photos, but always nice to have the accompanying press photo info.
“This is an original press photo. Dept – US Army, Credit – NEA and ACME Photo measures 9.25 x 7inches. Photo is dated 03-16-1943.”
UPDATE: This photo is back on eBay.
Taken at the USAF Base at Yokota, Japan, the photo shows a jeep with an unusually narrow window on the door.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1600
It doesn’t run.
“I have a jeep project that I am never going to finish so I am selling it. I have a titled 1946 (I think — this is hard to prove as the title is not correct) Willys CJ-2a, currently not running but everything is there –engine, transmission, seats, etc. The body is rough and needs work — BUT, it would be a really fun project for very little money. I also have a brand new set of seat cushions from Beachwood in grey that will come with it. I will also include a spare L-head engine, and a set of axles (Dana 25/44) and another Dana 18 transfer case. I only want $1600 for all. You can sell whatever parts you don’t need to recoup some of the money. It is located in Tijeras (Albuquerque) NM and would need to be transported wherever you are.”
UPDATE: **SOLD**

“tall hood… narrow nine ford rear end D 44 front end no engine…. I have a rolling chassis for it…”
It runs, but still a project. It’s got a funky windshield.
“it runs! rebuilt chevy 350 and 4 speed (sm420) mated to the stock transfer case, exahst is made, not hooked up, have pto winch, brand new gauges, axles have had 5.29 gears put in them, custom radiator, new springs for a 3″ lift, custom widshield, new water pump, power steering pump bracket, alternator bracket etc… this is an awsome little flat fender, could be yours 🙂 call me 530 862 1569 asak for dan.”
It’s a project.
“I have a 1944 Willys MB for sale. I bought this to restore and it has turned out to be more than I would like to take on. The body and frame seem to be original but the motor looks to be out of a CJ3A. The engine runs smooth but will blow some blue smoke after running for several minutes.
I currently have the body detached. I do have the title.
All in all, it is a good jeep for someone looking for a restoration project or parts. Please email with questions.
Asking $2000 but is negotiable.
Buyer will be responsible for picking up.”
There might be some value here.
“Here’s a challenge for ya………. 1948 model with later model overhead intake engine. Rough but has potential………. Vin tag intact with all other ID tags in place, no title. First $450 takes it !!! Thad 619-417-0770 Can deliver for some gas $$$$$$”
This has the hinged grille, so likely an early M-38A1.
“I have an old military jeep that I have already stripped down to the frame ready for restoration, I would rather see it go to someone who has the time and knowledge to restore it back to original condition. Does have title but the title says it’s a 58, It does not have vin plate on the dash, It needs very little parts, body is in good condition, very little rust. Asking $800,or will do partial trade. 5&o_77five-79&&”
No pics provided.
“Selling my 48 jeep willy. Runs and I drive it around the yard with the kids all the time. Needs new brake lines. Has a Chevy 250 straight 6 in it and is a 3 speed. “1946 Willys CJ2A. Runs well. Some new parts, some old. New: rebuilt Buick v-6 motor, starter, radiator, all brake parts including lines, windshield, wiper motor, heater, wiring and lights. Old but not original: steering, extended leaf springs, 11″ brake drums. Has all range overdrive, tranny in good shape, body has rust and needs some work. Comes with homemade half-cab, set of 4 larger rimes and tires (tires not worth much). Fun project, fun to drive- come take a look. $2500.00. Yamhill”
Here’s a great photo of Roberto and his latest canvas. In his hand is the latest issue of 4×4 Story.
Along the Miami River, among the island freighters, machine shops and boat yards is this bizarre sight at the Byrd Commercial Divers’ yard. Is it art, trash or a statement? While a jeep is not visible, we can only assume there is a stout CJ-2A holding up the turquoise Cadillac. Maybe an someone knows what this display is about? And the model & year of each car? UPDATE: Was $15,5000. **Status Unknown**
Joe dropped by the Scottsdale show and spotted this nice looking truck. He writes, “Great show with hundreds of cars Jan and I attended (McDonalds Rock and Roll Car Show) at the Pavillion Shopping Center in Scottsdale today. Only a couple of WWII jeeps, but I thought you might like this Willys Pickup for sale. With Barrett Jackson nearby, ending tomorrow, a lot of folks have show car fever. This one looked good enough for the Auction.”
