Roll Cage Phoenix, AZ **Status Unknown**

• CATEGORIES: Roll Cage This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **Status Unknown** Was $300.

If you are looking for a solid cage, this price is cheaper than making one.

“This was taken out of a 1947 Jeep Willy that was a rock crawler project. That project never happened, so I’m selling the custom roll cage that was made for it. I believe it will fit many other Jeeps and years and can be easily modified for a Samurai or something similar. It is made from 2″ tubular metal pipe and is structurally in great shape. Could use a good cleaning and paint though. Here are some measurements that may help you determine if it is what you want.

Front to Back of cage measured from the base – 71″
Side to Side measured from front part of base – 50″
Side to Side measured from rear part of base – 54″
Height measured from middle of roll cage – 47″
Windshield opening Width – 21.5″
Windshield opening Height – 44.5″
Cab opening Width – 3′
Cab opening Height – 39″
Side plates on the back base Width – 10″
Side plates on the back base Length – 33”

Jeep Chase Seen From the 1953 Movie OFF LIMITS

• CATEGORIES: Features, Old Images • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

Off Limits was a 1953 movie staring Bob Hope and Mickey Rooney. I’ve never seen the movie, but blogger Robby Cress has seen it and likes it. A couple years ago he authored about a chase scene that involved a military police jeep driven by Mickey Rooney that chased a car driven by Bob Hope. Filmed in several Los Angeles Neighborhoods, Cress tracks down some of the old locations, pinpoints them, and compares them to their 2012 counterparts. The photos include shots of the jeep, which is painted in a Constulabary style with a stripe that drapes widely over the cowl, before flowing down and along the side of the jeep to its rear in one large wide stripe. Here are other derivations of the Constulabary paint style.

Here’s the entire post: http://dearoldhollywood.blogspot.com/2012/07/off-limits-1953-film-locations.html

These are a few of the jeep related photos taken (I assume) from the video:

1952 CJ-3A Logan, UT $3500

• CATEGORIES: CJ-3A This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

It appears solid, but there have been a few alterations from stock.

“1952 Willys CJ3A. In good condition for its age. This jeep sat for a couple decades prior to my starting with it about 5 years ago. Currently runs and drives well (for a 1952). No engine/mechanical issues. Probably one of the best condition original engine jeeps of this era you will find. It is right at the spot where you could either go for a restoration or a crawler build, or do what I did and run it just as is. Currently has the rear swing out tire carrier, the roll bar (not stock on Jeeps this old) and the removable rear seat.

Its not one I have to sell, but I haven’t driven it must in the last couple years, and I would like the garage space. I may be interested in a trade for the right road motorcycle or maybe something else interesting let me know what you have. I have a current clean title in hand ready to transfer. Text or email is the best way to reach me as I can’t answer my phone while at work during the day, but if you do call leave a message and I’ll get back to you. Thanks for looking.”

Demo Truck at Boston 4×4 in South Africa

• CATEGORIES: Features, Willys Trucks This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

Marc and his son were driving in Anderbolt (South Africa) when his son spotted this beautiful truck sitting in a showroom at Boston 4×4 Accessories. If you are in South Africa, check out their store.

He writes, “This truck is their company demo vehicle for the 4×4 accessories and parts they supply under the name of Boston 4×4 Accessories, +27 11 914 3004 or sales@boston4x4.co.za. and are located in Anderbolt, Boksurg, Gauteng, South Africa. I see their web page is down, under construction.

It has a small block V8 (ford) but I didn’t learn the transmission set up. I could not find the data plate for the serial number any where. As noted in the photos, this truck is right hand drive, not a factory mod. Done way after it left the US.”

Update From Paul on His Stainless Flattie’s Progress

• CATEGORIES: Builds, Features • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

Paul’s made some progress on his Willys. You can read past posts about his jeep, Knardly Rolls, here: http://www.ewillys.com/tag/paul-m38/paul-stainless-jeep-top-1

Paul writes, I’m using thin poster board to make patterns for the interior panels on the Willys. Since the reinforcing structure for the top and doors will be visible from the inside and not covered by upholstery I’ve had to make 33 individual paper patterns so far. After adjusting the fit of these patterns I’ll transfer their measurements to 3/4 inch thick high density foam and then it’s time for the upholstery wizards to work their magic. Fourteen yards of fabric are on order so that should be enough to cover everything but the floor. All of the top and side wall panels will be covered with a silver gray fabric and this same fabric will be used on the seats with the exception of blue insert panels covering the center of the seats. That’s the plan right now. I still need to buy some thick upholstery foam so I can begin cutting out the padding for the seats but I wanted to finish with the patterns first.

paul-stainless-jeep-top-2

More pattern pictures. To have enough room to make the patterns and install the upholstery pieces it was necessary to remove the fuel tanks and both front seats. The more work I can do myself the lower the cost will be to get the upholstery done so I don’t mind constantly climbing into and out of the Willys all day long. Things would be a lot easier if the Jeep was just a little bit bigger or I was just a little bit smaller. Oh well, I guess I need to call a Waaaaaaaaaambulance. Paul

Year? M-38A1 Dumpbed East Wenatchee, WA **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: M-38A1 • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was No Price

Here’s an unusual setup.

“Owned by a local irrigation district and used to haul concrete to canal since the 60’s. Back has been cut out to allow dump to operate and passenger seat is gone so dump parts could be placed there, Engine does not appear to be original but runs and was maintained but needs a good tune up. Spent 200 on rebuilding dump so I could haul concrete threw narrow openings and haul rocks. Have not used it since I rebuilt it but did try it a few times. Dents from years of abuse. Original stars. No data plates or title. Irrigation district lost title and some dumb deputy told them to sell it to get a salvage only paperwork. Tried to explain to them what they did but they were not getting it. Said this is fine since it was told to them by a deputy. I do have a bill of sale. And if you can get them to understand great. Does have numbers on frame. I wanted to trade it for a Minelab metal detector or a White Detector and probe and hoops worth about 1500. ie: a V3i white or Minelab Safari. Might have tail light covers and a few smalls that go with the M38A1. (Triangle on back not included)”
