UPDATE V: This scam disappeared from the world, thankfully.
UPDATE IV: After being deleted this is back on eBay again. A bidder decided to bid $50,000. Someone’s playing with the seller.
=====================
UPDATE III: Mike alerted me that some of these pics are now on an ebay auction. Person selling it is listed as brand new profile on Jan 19, 2014. I see no reason to doubt it is still a scam. It has been reported as potentially fraudulent.
================================
UPDATE II: This scam has appeared on Craigslists. Lance forwarded pictures he received from the scammer. There are 17 total.
UPDATE: John looked into this scam and received the following email. It appears this seller is likely running the Google Wallet Scam (which I’d never heard of).
I am glad that you are interested in my Jeep Willys . It's a Orig Matching #'s Jan 1943 Ford GPW Army Jeep Willys Military . This jeep was completely taken down, sandblasted, and all of the rust was cut out and replaced with new metal. This jeep has been completely gone threw. The engine, T-84 transmission (gear box), Transfer case, breaks, steering box, Axles, starter, generator, Radiator, Carter WO Carb, voltage regulator, water pump and distributor have ALL been rebuilt by professional shops and receipts can be provided for all parts. The engine has a two year warranty. The Firestone tires, wiring harness, spare data plates, gas tank, tail lights and horn are all new replacements and are 100% correct. The jeep is still its original 6 volt configuration. The seat covers are new . All of the combat rims are strait originals. The battery is brand new and this jeep starts, drives, shifts and stops with no problems at all . I legally own a clear title, free of any liens or loans, under my name. Not interested in a trade and my final price is $4,500. Just want to sell it ASAP, I am using Google Wallet as my ex-wife suggested, she also sold her car, without any headaches! First of all please let me know where are you located ? I will also need to know if you require a loan ? Or the funds are available ?

This is a nice looking rig.
“Must see in person to truly appreciate ( i know everyone says that but i serious), color is not as overwhelming, and truck really is sweet.
Up for auction a 1947 CJ2a show or go Jeep, this jeep has been in many local shows and has taken home loads of hardware for being so unique and in such great condition. Restoration completed about 3 years ago with only 500 miles since restoration. 95% of this jeep is new, from the engine and transmission to the rear axle spindles and bearings and gears of the rear end with all receipts to prove it, even minor components such as cowl weatherstripping and fuel tank neck grommets have been replaced…..outside of the dana 18 transfer case and front axle, and front drive shaft, pretty much everything else has been replaced with new upgraded components!!! Truck is powered by a 300hp 350 Chevy Crate engine (less than 1000 miles, edelbrock endurashine top half with dual 500cfm edelbrock thunder series carbs, RPM Air Gap Intake, MSD pro billet dizzy, Novak built sm420 tranny 4 spd with super low drive shaft breaking 1st gear, dana 18 twin stick transfer case, patriot tight tuck headers, 22×19 Aluminum racing radiator (with both mechanical and electrcial fans), Currie Axles, Currie Built Ford 9″ rear end with 4.11 gears, Saginaw High Steer Steering box, NEW 33inch tires, 3 inch lift, custom interior, custom built heavy duty rear drive shaft, Rhino lined gloss black bed; powder coated bumpers, winshield frame and roll bar. Base/Clear paint. Both white rims and chrome rims are included with sale. Jeep can be driven on highway w/o any problems Only the endurashine dual carb setup is included with sale, I live in Buffalo so I’ve got over a foot of snow outside and had to use pics from past couple seasons that i had on hand, so the only thing different is carb setup, will post agian during nicer weather if jeep doesnt go for my reserve”
This might be worth a look. Unclear what isn’t working.
“For Sale: 1946 Jeep Willys CJ2A on a CJ5 frame? Also comes with Dana axles and 225 V6 Buick engine. This is a very neat looking beast that could be loads of fun as well as a real eye catcher. I purchased this as a project to upgrade with my son, but find myself with too much else going on. This is drive ready and most everything works, but it is clearly not a highway vehicle. It also comes with a full soft top (not pictured). Email or call me if you have questions or want to come look at it. Serious inquiries only. The price is firm.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $4195.
The body is painted with rhino covering.

(11/27/2013) The seller doesn’t mention in, but I’m wondering if this is unrestored?
“1944 Willy’s Military Jeep 4×4 free of rust and dents. Paint finish in good condition. The interior has the original canvas seats with roof canvas inside curtains. Under carriage and suspension also in good condition.”
It needs some work.
“I am looking to sell my jeep. I have owned it for about 10 years and looking for something different. Nice shape but the master cylinder is leaking, and it needs a battery.I have a lot of extra parts. Engine has very low miles on complete rebuild and trans and tranfer case were gone thru also. I have advertised before and have had some interesting trade offers. Kinda wanting a vette or mustang , camaro, convertible, something like that. Also have a 28 International rat rod pickup project for sale or trade also. Very good project with a lot of patina. Email with ph. # for reply. Iwill not respond if I don’t think you are for real.”
This includes a Warn Overdrive. It might be worth a look for parts.
“I have a 1950’s era Jeep m38a1.
It was sold to me as a 1965 CJ5 but I had a few jeep experts tell me that it was in fact a military M38A1 from the 50’s.
It has:
3.8l Buick V6 engine
Borg Warner t98 trans
Dana 18 transfer case with Warn overdrive.
Gears are really high ratio… 5:33’s I think in Dana 44 rear and Dana 25 front.
New wiring harness is 60% installed
Saginaw power steering box
This Jeep needs some love. Sadly I don’t have the time or skill level to do it justice. I’ve never been able to put it on the road
The bad,..
Needs a fuel cell
Trans and transfer case need to be sealed up,Won’t hold oil.
It’s been sitting for a few years, it ran when I parked it.
Asking $1300 for the whole thing. Bill of sale only. No title. All reasonable offers will be considered.”
UPDATE: Price dropped to $800
(01/19/2014) Looks like a project.
“Gm iron duke 4 cylinder engine. Does run. Needs some steering repair. Has aluminum hard top. Call for details

“1951 M38 Willys military jeep, original l-head flat head engine, all stock running gear, warn overdrive, has safety upgrades of 11″ brakes and Saginaw steering, the body is virtually rust free , the only rust is surface stuff, dent free , and no bondo, the seats are not original. It is currently registered non-op, in my name . It runs but is going to need a carburetor rebuild and a brake master cylinder, I just have too many projects , and this sweet little jeep deserves to be treated well. ”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1500
(08/20/2013) This is a project.

Robin discovered this cool jeep: an electric 1953 M-38A1.
Robin writes, “The owner, Mike Sudik, is an electrician and president of Big Sky Solar Wind out of Missoula, MT. Mike removed the engine several years ago (now owned by Robin) and replaced it with a DC electric motor. The top speed has been 45 mph and goes about 60-90 miles on a charge. The “top” is actually a solar panel used to charge the 12V system for his PA and stereo.
He has detailed his adventure at: http://www.bigskysolar-wind.blogspot.com/. On his website are pictures showing how he accomplished the task. He had the Jeep listed as a CJ-3A but he now knows that it is an M-38A1. In fact, he probably got way more info (from me) than he ever expected. 🙂 He is a really great guy and I thought your readers might like to see what he has done. I have some pictures here:

As part of getting my computer up and running again (whew!), I tested out various pieces of hardware (like my scanner), only to discover Apple’s new OS (Mavericks) is more advanced than the drivers. However, with some software gymnastics, I got it working. Here’s the first result (I had to clean this up quite a bit). It’s a Sports Graphic from the 1945 issue of Willys War News. I’ll be doing a full scan of that at some future point.
Joe forwarded this announcement. The Arizona Historic Military Transport Association (AHMTA) Military Vehicle Show is coming up March 1 and 2 in Mesa, Arizona.
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $15,000.
“My 1946 CJ2A serial # 57110 was purchased new by a farmer in a neighboring town and used on the farm until the belt broke. When I bought it, the broken belt was still hanging on it. It had 12168 miles on it. It had been parked under a shed with the front end exposed to weather. The front suffered a lot of rust, but the rear half was in good shape. I rebuilt the engine because the valve guides were pushed out when I turned the engine. Number 4 cylinder was badly pitted. I had a sleeve installed. All pistons were unharmed and were reused. I installed all new bearings and seals, and it runs like a top. All brake components except linings were also replaced. I drive it a few times a year and it runs very nice at 45-50 mph.
This Willys has the agrijeep package with the governor, HD radiator, PTO, hydraulic pump ( not installed ) and Monroe lift. I also think I have a belt accessory attachment for it. There are several other items, including a rear seat, I have accumulated that I cannot remember now. It has never been wet, except when I washed it one time, since I finished it. It can use a little TLC from shop wear.
I had a custom wiring harness like the original made and added wiring for signal lights. It has the original 6 volt electrical system.
I am asking $15,000.00 for it. I got this estimate from a person who organized a Willys show 3 years ago. As I get older, I have decided to get rid of TOYS. If you are interested in a quality CJ, this is it.
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3000
Includes a PTO winch.
