1953 CJ-3B Bonners Ferry, ID **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: CJ-3B This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3600.

(01/06/2014) This jeep could use some restoration, but otherwise looks sold.

“Adult owned. Very complete and every day drive-able old jeep high hood. Original engine and running gear has 12-volt system with new alternator and battery. This jeep will take you everywhere you want to go and places you do not want to go, best part about it is, the thing will bring you back every time too. Have never had a problem with it, very mechanically sound. Perfect for the hunting cabin or ready to restore. Does have some non-factory additions but which one doesn’t? Has typical old jeep rust but everything is still solid, stored under cover all year. Any maintenance that it has needed has been done very well cared for. Everything works twin stick t-case, all electrical, no bad noises, can drive any time I want to. Have run out of time to play with it business calls too much, would rather see it get used by someone who appreciates these things. Clean Idaho title in hand!! No Trades cash only “dog not included!” give me a call we will talk about it no e-mails.”

Day 1 – March 20th: Dinner and Salt

• CATEGORIES: Features • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

<– OVERVIEW | Day 2 – March 21st: From Salt Lake City To Vernal –>

2014-03-20-westminster-salt5

We left Pasco, Washington, at 5amish yesterday, which means we’d planned to leave at 5am, but due to last minute scrambling, our departure didn’t actually occur until 5:30am. After nine hours of driving, we arrived in Salt Lake City in time to celebrate with the kids.

2014-03-20-pasco-slc-map

Today we drove from Pasco, Washington, to Salt Lake City, Utah.

Karson, Kasia and Colter joined us at the Old Spaghetti Factory for some pasta. It was Kasia’s choice, due both to her upcoming 18th birthday and because we found out yesterday she’s been accepted to the University of Utah. However, she won’t be attending the U this fall, but will postpone it until the fall of 2015 so she can spend the next school year participating in a mentorship program in Los Angeles.

Colter has another two years at East High School. I think he hopes that without his brother and sister at school, he will no longer be known as Kasia or Karson’s little brother. Instead, people will actually know him by his own name.

2014-03-20-kids-oldspaghetti-factory2-loresYou may remember our trip from last summer when we ran into Karson twice during his participation in the Americorps/FEMA program. In November he successfully ‘graduated’ from the program with lots of experiences, stories and scholarship money. So, he decided to go to Westminster University starting this winter. He seems to be enjoying it immensely.

1947 Truck Zumbrota, MN **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: Willys Trucks • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: Was $1500. **SOLD**

The outside looks good. It needs work on the interior.

“1947 willys pickup. Has been in storage since 1968, Sheet metal has almost no rust damage. Previous owner started to install v8 chevy, but did not finish. Used an old Hurst conversion kit to use original trans. Also have an extra set of axles with springs. truck is 4×4 but does NOT have lockouts on either set of axles. I have a clear title and will help load it up. Very easy project to finish, the sheet metal only needs a little work, and you can drop in the small block of your choice to get running fast. Won’t need to take up your whole winter. $1500 is far less than having to do lots of body work would cost alone.”

Keystone Automobile Club Jeep

I found this interesting photo of Bennet Larson and a few others standing in front of a Keystone Automobile Club Jeep. Keystone was an automobile club that was absorbed into the AAA Mid-Atlantic in 1965. The photo was taken in/near Philadelphia. I imagine the jeep was used for helping stranded motorists or patrolling?

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $8000.

Looks like a nice jeep.

“Great Jeep. Everything runs great, it’s a lot of fun. Buick V6 engine, overhauled 3,000 miles ago. Off Road Tires in good shape. I drove it from Michigan to Arizona 2 years ago so that proves its reliability. I’ve re-built the brakes and added an 8k winch. Added a sound system and really nice speakers. It can be left as is or it can be restored to a more original look. Make an offer and ill consider. No Trades.”

1942 Slat Grille MB/GPW Lakeway, TX **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: GPW (Ford MB), MB • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was listed at $9500.

(12/13/2013) This is a mix of parts, but looks nice.

“This is actually a 1942 Ford GPW Jeep with a MB Willys Slat Grill and engine. Strangely enough, the original owner saw the slat grill and had it titled as a Willys, but the frame serial number is a `42 Ford. It has many “F” Script parts. I have intended to change the grill out and re-title it a Ford, but have been procrastinating on that. I bought it in 2008 and converted it to 12volt. It still needs some work, but it is a good reenacting and parade jeep, which is what I intended its use to be. Several extra parts to go with it including: new rear seat cushions, extra Jerry Can, Garand Rifle Scabbard, OD Tarp, Canvas Windshield Cover, Gussets, Manuals, etc. See the attached photos. I am asking $9,500 OBO.”

1958 FC-170 Project Escondido, Ca $2500

• CATEGORIES: FC150-FC170-M677 This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: Still Available

(02/24/2014) It’s definitely a project.

“Here is a unique project vehicle. 1958 3/4 ton Kaiser Jeep FC-170 Forward Control Pickup. I’ve had this since 2000 but several other projects have taken priority. I have several 4×4’s and was considering turning this into a slammed 2WD cruiser truck, but I now need to thin the herd. This is a pretty solid starting point. Set up for a small block Chevy/TH400. They have been pulled but are still available for additional cost. I traded original 9′ bed for a beat up one, intending to use the base to create a flat/stake bed. All 8 pieces of glass intact except for passenger door window, which is easy to have made. Comes with additional NOS windshield with rubber included ($500 10 years ago) Also comes with these add’l parts: front fiberglass fender flares, set of 5 stock wheels with zero miles roller tires, pair of stronger Chevy axles- corporate 10 front w/discs, 12 bolt rear, both 4.56 gears. (or upgrade to pair of 3/4 ton Dodge 44 HD front w/flat knuckles for xover steering/ Dana 60 full float rear, both 8 lug 4.10 gears), set of steel 8 lug wheels. 327 Chevy small block w/TH400 negotiable. Clear title, pink in hand. $2,500 w/o options.

I also have a ’65 Jeep Wagoneer in another ad.

“This is a very cool classic Willys CJ-2a Jeep. This particular Jeep was modified very early on with a high-side kit and Expedition rack to serve as a Forest Service fire trail go-anywhere rig. The back seat was removed, a utility lock box placed, and the Expedition rack built to hold two 5-gallon fuel cans w/a locking strap, Hi-lift Jack w/same, and a full-sized matching spare tire. It was painted Fire Engine Red way back then, and has a wonderful vintage patina that really goes with the overall vibe of the rig.

Shirts, Books and Posters during our Trip

• CATEGORIES: Event, Features • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

On this year’s trip we’ll have a few different items you can buy from us as we travel. If you want the items mailed to you, we’ll figure out a way to do that, too. Just email me (d @ ewillys.com). Everything is first come first serve.

The purposes of these items should be pretty obvious: 1) help raise money for our trips, 2) provide unique, vintage jeep items you won’t see elsewhere, and 3) to promote the community of vintage jeeps. For me, it makes the whole eWillys adventure more fun.

SHIRTS are $20 each: They shirts are good quality material that is 60% ring spun cotton and 40% polyester. They are light and very comfortable. The image is based on a WWII bond-drive image printed on an envelope.

1. Olive Drab: I only have Large and X-Large.
2. Gray: I have a couple of Smalls, Mediums and XXL. Mostly, I have Larges and X-Large.
ewillys-vintage-tshirts

BOOKS are $20 each: Of course, don’t forget about my books. We’ll have copies of both. For those that don’t know, Finding Virginia is personal journey of mine, including my history with jeeps and more. The Amber Panels is an adventure/fiction novel based around the real Amber Panels. Of course, jeeps find there way into it, too.

One of the reasons for we are detouring down to Sante Fe, New Mexico, is to visit the Bataan Museum. WWII in the Pacific and the Philippines will play a role in book three, tentatively titled October Gold.
2014-trip-booksPOSTERS are $10 each: Not many left, but we’ll be carrying some of these with us as well. These are professionally printed 18″x12″ posters. I have varying amounts of each. Want more than one? We can make a deal.

Jim Johnson, his father and brother are all Willys nuts. He says they can’t get enough of them. Each year they head south from Utah’s Utah County for the Jeep Safari with their vintage jeeps. They enjoy showing how well their ‘old’ jeeps perform against the new ones.

This first jeep is a 1962 CJ-5 that Jim got from his father. Jim fixed it up some and gave it another coat of paint. All three look ready for Moab again this year. Have fun!
