Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “Got a early model Willys Jeep Cj2a 40’s era. Has the original straight 4 Go Devil Engine very strong doesnt smoke. Recently updated the 6 volt system to 12 volt. New rebuilt Starter, coil, rebuilt Distributor, body is in really good shape, new gas tank, pretty new from the front fenders back. If you’ve ever owned one you know they will climb or push over near anything, This thing is full time 4×4 right now. The brakes have air in the lines and I think the front pads might be a little stuck from sitting cause it makes a slight noise. Runs and Drives good. Might negotiate on my price a little”

“I don’t know a lot about this vehicle at this point. My father and my nephew worked on this vehicle together. My father had paid someone to get it running and shortly after he got it running it was parked in the barn on a farm. I just recently went down to pick it up to sell it. I know that it is not currently running, but it was running before it was parked. My father has since passed away so I have no more information on the jeep. It is really very cool it is a must see.”

Complete new brake system (all lines, master cylinder, wheel cylinders, shoes). 8000 lb. Ramsey winch & PTO (original-fits frame), Five New rims, tires and tubes. Replaced canvas and seats. Rear seat, original too box. Complete off frame resurrection of frame and body…NO Rust out.. Good Glass. Unit has been converted to 12 volt. All lights work including black out. Includes repair and Parts manuals. INCLUDES THESE EXTRAS another engine, transmission, transfer case, bell housing, brake shoes, front and rear axle assemblies, pressure plate, carb parts, hood, tie rods, drive shafts, electrical parts, Tow bar, 24 volt starter. plus other odds and ends.”

Today I spent some time doing some housekeeping on the site, including updating the WordPress backbone to the latest version along with all the plugins. On another note, Colin shared an email with me that I altered into the story below. I don’t know about you all, but I warned Ann when we first started dating to tell me before she cut or colored her hair. I said I’d never notice. She’ll even point it out and I still can’t tell, but I can sure spot a jeep with just a glance.
A husband went to the police station to file a “missing person” report for his missing wife:
Husband : I lost my wife, she went shopping & hasn’t come back.
Inspector : What is her height ?
Husband: I never checked.
Inspector : Slim or healthy ?.
Husband: Not slim, can be healthy.
Inspector : Color of eyes ?
Husband : Never noticed.
Inspector : Color of hair ?
Husband : Changes according to season.
Inspector : What was she wearing?
Husband : I think it was red, but not sure whether it was a dress or a suit.
Inspector : Was she driving?
Husband : Yes.
Inspector : Tell me the make, model & color of the vehicle . . . . .
Husband : She was driving a harvest tan CJ-3A with a Buick V6 that generates 250 horsepower powering a Ford Toploader 4 Speed. It has a full cage colored a faux shade of aluminum. The winch on the front is a classic pre-Warn belleview winch held up by an ARB bumper that I customized. There’s a small scratch on the hood and a dent on rear quarter panel …..

On May 1st we drove home to Pasco. We didn’t stop anywhere, so there’s nothing to report. We landed in Pasco, tired, but happy about our great southwest adventure!

Marc found this fascinating photo. The description explains these jeeps were part of ‘Operation Roll Up’, a plan to gather up jeeps left in the Pacific Islands during WWII.

Could use new paint, but looks solid.
“1951 Willys Wagon
This vehicle is a 20 year old restoration that is in need of body work and paint again. The paint is peeling and there is rust beginning again.
It has a very strong 4 bolt 350, turbo 350 trany with a shift kit, 203 transfer case, 9″ ford rear axle with 438 gears and drum breaks, dana 27 front axle with 438 gears and power disc brakes. Though not shown in the pics I do have all the original seats. with the exception of the drive train all the original equipment is here.
This wagon runs very well and has been a great mountain rig for my wife and I for many years.

This unit is Straight, Rust Free, Correct Jack Leg as well as Hitch, Wiring harness is there and complete, the Plug has been cut, Sale includes a new inner vehicle cable (has the correct ends) to fix the cut Plug. There are no lights. These Trailers can be correct with the larger late composite lights as well as the small aluminum Lights. Many of these end up on the road with their own light system regardless. Great for Camping Hauling or for the MV enthusiast. Good Rubber no dents no rust… IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND $1200/”

“This is what is left of my ‘donor’ CJ3A plow jeep I built. It plowed my yard for the past 15 years but the engine was tired and smoked. Since I had more engines and parts, I made another plow jeep last year using the body, windshield and seats from this. It runs, but needs the engine accessories (carb, radiator, fuel pump, etc.). Sits on 3 16″ rims and 1 15″ rim to roll out of the way. Parted out, this would garner more than $200.”
