Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. (05/18/2014) Lots of mods to this CJ-6 or M-170.
“1958 jeep cj-6, sbc 350, nv4500, twin stick dana 20, PTO winch, Currie high pinion 9’s with detroit lockers front and rear 4.88 gears, 37×12.5×17 BFG km2s, aluminum radiator, truck avenger 670cfm, aqualu industries one off aluminum front fenders, LED lights, too much to list. This is a Excellent turn key jeep ready for whatever.”

“I will trade my willys jeep for an atterny im in the middle of.a divece that is why i havent been able to finish the jeep also my need for a lawyer I have a 1951 Willys jeep that I have been restoring I have 95% of the body work done and primered I put a small block Chevy 350 in it also new seats custom dash 3 speed trany with transfer case custom hood with hoodscoop it runs really good I still have a.tiny bit of body work and I was going to change the rear end gears to some taller ones it is almost completely done fact if havering low gears is ok with you it is ready to go with little left to do.”

A company called Tire Recappers out of Nashville produce and sell these recapped mini-terror-like tires. Buy four tires and they ship for free. Anyone have experience with them?

Both are in need of work. The green has a modified body so is not original. The brown is original but in rougher shape and is the better runner of the two. “1954 Willys Jeep CJ-3B – Complete ground up restoration 12 years ago. Rebuilt original overhead l4 motor, including hardened valve seals for unleaded fuel. Still has the original oil bath air cleaner. Approximately 11,000 miles. Upgraded to 11″ drums all around. Has 2-1/2″ springs on it with 31X 10.5 tires 75+% tread. All stock running gear, 5-38 gearing with lock-right locker in the rear. Has custom fully welded Bumpers front and rear both with 2″ receivers. Rear bumper includes spare tire mount with full size spare. Custom power steering. Newer optima red top battery. Custom winch. Custom Roll cage. LOTS MORE CUSTOM FEATURES. Thousands invested.

Between the grille and the body I think this is a M-38, but it doesn’t have the battery box lid. Maybe it’s a repro body.
“1951 Willys Jeep in excellent condition. Several year restoration–in storage since completion with very little use. Comes with soft top and extra set of tires. Ford V-8 302 powered, stick shift. No rust. Original except for engine.
Needs minor TLC. The hydraulic brakes and clutch need bleeding.”

(07/04/2014) This may make a good project.
“1949 Jeep CJ3A, started frame off resto, suspension all rebuilt, new military tires, chassis was stripped and painted, frame is perfect, drive line was great before starting resto. Body was pulled from frame 90% of rust has been repaired. Needs hat channels under floors done yet. No title but have all paper work for one and police report that all is clear. Few hours worth of work and could drive. 2 gallons of paint come with it that match the chassis. Plus a truck load of spare parts. I had a second one of these that I cut up for parts. I have all the paper work for that one also. Titles and tags bring 450 plus. Will trade for? Run it by me. No car audio or video games. Looking for cars quads or bikes jetski.”

UPDATE: Peter rightly pointed out this is a Lefty. **SOLD** on eBay for $3156. A true ‘barn find’ It was parked for 44 years (1970-2014). Seller got it running and gauges worked.

This has not title. It is listed as a 1952 (probably just a guess), but more likely mid 1953 or later.
