How about this beautiful truck!
I am selling my 1949 Willys 2 wheel drive truck. This truck was found here in the Helena valley a few years ago. It has always been a local truck and was in totally original condition with 46,000 miles on it. Willys made very few of these. The two wheel drive was an option and four wheel drive was standard. They are very rare in this condition. I obtained it about 4 years ago and began a frame off restoration. It was finished this year in June. I did not restore it to totally original but kept it very close. Some improvements/upgrades were made.
It has the original 134 Go Devil flathead 4 cylinder engine and T90 3 speed transmission. The engine has great compression and the valves are good. I added an electronic distributor and custom header to it and it runs like a top. I removed the original oil bath filter and added a reusable K&N type. I also removed the old oil filter and added a remote setup with modern spin on filter. I replaced the original fuel pump and went electric pump and a new poly tank and modern sending unit. The 6 volt system was replaced with a 12 volt system and new alternator. I put in a brand new radiator. A new master cylinder was installed and I rebuilt the steering box with new gears and seals.
At 3.5″ x 5″ this isn’t too big, but it sure looks interesting.
“THIS IS A RARE OLD AND ORIGINAL 1941 ONE-OF-A-KIND “65TH COAST ARTILLERY” FORT BARRY, CALIFORNIA WATER-SLIDE DECAL.
GREAT ILLUSTRATION OF A DOG SOLDIER MANNING A HOOD-MOUNTED MACHINE GUN ON HIS JEEP AND TOWING A 3-INCH ANTI-AIRCRAFT GUN.
THE 2ND BATTALION 65TH COAST ARTILLERY WAS STATIONED AT FORT BARRY ON THE NORTH SIDE OF THE GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE IN THE MARIN COUNTY HEADLANDS. MADE UP MAINLY OF 3-INCH ANTI-AIRCRAFT GUNNERS FROM WASHINGTON, OREGON AND CALIFORNIA STATES, THEY DEVELOPED A FRONT-PEDESTAL MOUNT FOR 50 CALIBER ANTI-AIRCRAFT MACHINE GUNS FOR THEIR JEEPS. MADE BY THE FAMOUS ILLUSTRATORS AT THE LACQUER GRAPH PROCESS COMPANY, LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA.
THIS UNUSUAL BEAUTIFUL DECAL SHOWS ITS AGE, BUT DISPLAYS WELL IN EXCELLENT UNUSED CONDITION.
IT MEASURES ABOUT 3 1/2 BY 5 INCHES IN SIZE.
IT WOULD BE A NICE ASSET TO ANY 2ND BN 65TH COAST ARTILLERY REGIMENT, SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA STATE OR TRAVEL DECAL COLLECTION.”
Sometimes, you have to sacrifice the jeep! This photo was taken in Fulda Gap, Germany.
It’s supposed to have only $10,000 miles. Has a Texaco logo. Maybe an ex-service station jeep?

“I am having to sell my dj3a. It is a 1961 Dj3a universal model. The tub, fenders, grill, hood, windshield(Has Plexiglass) and frame are in good condition with very little rust. The model number on the fire wall is 56337 20363 and on the frame is 23408. This jeep runs, drives and stops. It has the four cylinder willys engine in it. The valves need to be set. The engine cranks right up and runs well. It originally was a column shift but has been changed to a floor shift. It is a two wheel drive jeep. This jeep is of the same model family as the Surrey as in the Elvis Presley movie. It does come with a clear Missouri title in my name”
Looks rough, but runs and drives.

(08/09/2014) This GPW has some mods.
“I have an 90% completed 1945 Ford GPW (Willys) jeep for sale. I’ve been working on this jeep for the past 2 years and brought it back to life with a new paint job and engine work. It has a 289 V-8 out of a mustang that has been cleaned up with new gaskets and a thorough cleaning. Lot’s of new parts including all new wiring and gauges! Needs just a few more things before this can be back on the road; it needs exhaust pipes, the driveshafts need to be shortened or replaced and I haven’t looked at the brakes so I don’t know how they are but the jeep has new brake line installed.
The engine runs!! I’ve ran the engine for 20 minutes straight to see if the pressure and temperature gauges work and they do. Come on over if you want to check it out. I need my garage space back!
You’ve got to see this jeep, it’s almost ready for the road! I have the pink slip but the jeep hasn’t been registered since 1997, my plan was to have it as a recreational vehicle only…. I also have the Chilton’s Manual and the driveshafts that are included.”
UPDATE: Ooops. I forgot to make a PDF. Thankfully, Joe made a PDF and MS WORD version for us.
If the Superbowl isn’t keeping you busy today, then maybe this Jeep crossword puzzle will give you something to do. I twas published in the February 1956 issue of Willys News. I’ll publish the results on Tuesday.
This is a PDF that should print out two pages, one for the puzzle and one for the clue.
Otherwise, click on the images below and print them.
These are an assortment of WWII, 1950s Sahara and Algeria, and 1980 maneuvers in Belgium.
The September 1957 issue of Willys News devoted a full page to Frank and Helen Schreider’s 20,000 mile trip from the Arctic Circle to the tip of South America.
Thats some serious weight.
