“55 willys for sale no rust rebuilt interior engine runs strong”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $4800.
(03/24/2015) Still 6 volt.
“64k miles on original flat head 4, 3 speed manual trans and dual stick transfer case. Running gear is mechanically perfect, Clutch was replaced and has less than 500 mi on it. Still original 6 volt battery system with most of the original wiring in tact and floor starting button. Blinkers sand key were added by a former owner but should be easy enough to change or remove. Body is solid with some surface rust mainly in the bed. Has been painted at some point. Have original owners manual as well as defroster and hand crank. This is a CASH ONLY sale, NOT interested in trades. Please don’t waste my time with lowball offers or scams.”
This could use a speedometer.
“You are looking at a 1946 Willys Jeep (CJ 2A) that has been renovated to use and abuse…It has a title, is tagged and insured. This was the jeep that started it all, the first year that the Willys was available to civilians after WWII. All work has been done by a certified mechanic in the last year (have receipts). I’ve been driving it close to every day. 4 wheel drive works fantastically! I’d put this thing up against any Rubicon any day. It is a tank.
No frills on this Willys, but it is a real head-turner. Cruises at 50mph, drives over anything and everything. Lots of fun and is fairly dependable. Has low-back seats from a 52 Willys because they are a lot more comfortable than the original seats. It also has an extra set of tires and wheels (original wheels) All electrical has been converted to 12V… The only thing that it needs is turn signals. Eventually, it would be a good idea to convert the starter to work in collaboration with the key. As of right now, the starter is on the floor. I’ve kept it that way for the novelty of it (and for security…no one would know how to start it, even if they had the key). It’s got some rust and no speedometer, but i’ve accounted for that in the asking price. ”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $6900. This was last listed a couple years ago in Lake Havasu City.
(06/06/09) There’s been some time and money put into this rig.
“Hello everyone, im selling my 1952 Willys Jeep 4×4. First off the jeep is gorgeous with a full frame off restoration. Everything from the paint, engine, interior and suspension have been done and everything works amazing. Starting with the engine its had a full 350 v8 transplant with 350 turbo transmission with very low miles. There are chrome pieces everywhere and it also has an aluminum radiator with big electric fan. There is absolutely no rust anywhere and the jeep has a custom lift with new springs and near new 33×12.50 tires and custom 15″ rims. The paint is a beautiful white with deep purple flames. The jeep also has custom chrome front and rear bumpers with a full tow hitch. It also has a full length new black top with removable doors and zip down windows. The interior has also been completly redone with black leather seats and looks great. The drivetrain has also been fully redone with 537 gears and a new rear end. There is much more to add and the list just keeps going on with over 12k in receipts. Overall the jeep is brasically brand new and the cleanest you will find at a ridiculously low price.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.
This is an interesting 3B. It’s got a replacement tub. The side bar has an unusual swoop that must act as a step. Labeled a 1951, it might be a CJ-3A chassis?
“You are bidding on a 1951 Willy’s Jeep. It was purchased approximately 3 years ago as the foundation of a custom off-road/rock crawler vehicle. It has nearly new heavy lugged off road tires, custom built roll cage with side skids. The cage and skids were professionally built. The jeep body is in very good condition for being 64 years old. It has a custom gas tank with custom seats (see photos). The vehicle was scheduled for a complete ground up custom build. A death in the family forces sale. It was running and was drove to the spot where it is parked. It has the Commando OHV engine. No Battery … sold as is. Front axle needs differential work. Some other parts are included, top bows/doors/ and a variety of other small parts. ”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $4500.

(03/29/2015) “Description: For sale is a 1942 Willys MB, date of delivery 12-2-42. I brought it home and cleaned it up and thought about parading around after restoration, or even driving it the way it is because it looks evil. Then it hit me that I’m leaving for college in the fall and won’t have the time (or money) this Jeep deserves. I’m finishing up a full restoration now. After the beast survived the war, it was sold as surplus to a farmer in southern Indiana. He used it to pull and haul equipment from his lake house to the farm. Unfortunately it was never titled because there was never a reason to, but I will provide the past two bill of sales and make another highly informative one. The body is rough but savable and the floor is very solid. It has a 2A windshield and CJ rims. Mechanically it has a truck engine and T90 tranny; the engine/tranny is free and was told it last ran about 5 years ago. The frame is very solid and matches the body serial numbers. It has the full floating rear end and correct front end. On the hood the original military numbers are peeking out. This veteran is definitely a candidate for restoration or run it the way it is, there’s something special in a non-restored Jeep too. I hate to see it sitting around for years while I get on my feet and would rather see someone else enjoy it.
I also have a whole original MB front half body leftover from my restoration. The pieces are very solid and have a few little patches on them (inside). Both fenders have surface pitting that can be filled in, and I already filled in the hood. The hood is slightly warped down on the driver side and the grille has a slight bend on the end. On the fenders, the reinforcements aren’t rusted out like most others. As a whole, all these pieces are solid on the usual rotted out places and in great condition. I’d like to get $400 out of them, or would do some trading for an MB canvas top!”
Paul built a heat shield to protect his steering assembly. I believe it’s his last project of the winter. Paul’s putting ‘Knardly Rolls’ to rest until Fall. It’s now time for him and the Goddess to drop the top on the Miata and explore the melting tundra.
He writes, Here’s the heat shield I made to protect the steering assembly from the heat given off by the left exhaust manifold and exhaust tubing. As you might have noticed there’s very little clearance between the heat shield and the steering shaft. A penny will not fit between the heat shield and the steering shaft. The heat shield is .020” stainless and the attach bracket which clamps to the exhaust pipe is .050” stainless.
The decreasing diameter holes drilled thru the attach bracket will allow cooling air to pass behind the heat shield which will help keep the steering linkage from getting too hot. I hope. The brown coating on the brake light switch ground wire attach bolt is a gasket shellac that should prevent water from seeping between the ground wire connection to the bare frame so corrosion is prevented. The exhaust is held to the manifold by silver plated high temperature steel self locking nuts.
An ad for Seagram’s Five Crow whiskey appeared in the December, 1942, issue of American Legion magazine. The illustration is kind of jeep-like.
The American Legion has turned all of its back issues into downloadable documents that are also searchable online. Pretty handy! You can view the entire December 1942 issue here: http://archive.legion.org/handle/123456789/3774
