Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “This is a 1949 CJ3A Willys Jeep. This has a Wyoming Title and until last year had never been out of the state. NO RUST. Garaged or barned all its life. Frame off restoration 99% complete. Electrics have been changed to 12V but the 6V parts are with the vehicle. Vehicle has an original speedometer indicating under 10,000 miles to the best of my knowledge this is accurate. Asking $12,500.00 OBO. This is not a mudder it is an antique.”

“1946 Jeep Willy for sale. Engine ran 2 years ago, been sitting since, dead battery. Body in great shape, interior has been rhino lined. New plugs, dist cap, wires, rotor, condenser. Have new mirrors also. Wont take much to get it up and road ready. I have the tittle, however the previous owner filled it out incorrectly. I will give the buyer the tittle, a bill of sale and the paperwork that needs to be filled out and sent to Trenton for a new tittle. asking $1000 or best offer.”

This has a rare Hickey sidewinder winch.
“This 1954 Willys Jeep M38A1 was recently discovered in a U.S. Government Warehouse in Logan, Utah, And had been stored there since 1986 !!
It was Manufactured by Willys–Overland (MB) in 1954. Officially called by U.S. Military a Willys M38A1 or Willys MD, it was the first “round fender” Willys.
The Willys M38A1 or (MD) was built from 1952 until 1957 for the U.S. military forces and from 1958 until 1971 for export to foreign governments. The United States Marine Corps continued to order and use the M38A1 until 1971. The M38A1 was so well liked, they introduced the CJ-5 in 1955 based on its design.
The body looks solid.

“1947 Willys Truck
This is 68 years old and has been used as a truck. It is not a show truck. I used it to plow my drive way. Hydraulic up gravity down on plow. Hydraulics powered by a power steering pump. Works great for what I used it for. Has 4cyl jeep eng. & stock trans, transfer case. 4wd works great, hi and low range. It is dented and rusty. I have not used it for two years. Needs a battery, oil changed and probably fuel system cleaned. If I do this I will want more. I haven’t tried to do anything with it since I last parked it.
Bring a trailer and the cash. I have a clear title in my name. NO I won’t take anthing less than the list price of $975. No I wont waste any more time holding the truck for anyone. First come with the cash gets the truck. No this is not a show truck. It is dented and rusty. Frame is cracked by the steering box and needs a better repair than it has. the price is $975. “I am selling this jeep for parts only, it can be used for parts, off road or on the farm. The sheet metal is has a lot of rust. The drive train is all there and the engine turns over but I have not had it started. It has no title. It does have a lot of good parts.”

He writes, I wanted to share with ewillys the event I went to this weekend. It was hosted in Elkhart, Indiana. Everyone was very nice to talk to and quite knowledgeable about every question I had to ask. The Jeeps guys have me convinced I need to join the group!
The Willys MB I’m standing next to has a very unique story, the guy who bought it had to go through an interview before the seller would let it go. The steel soldier landed on the beaches of Normandy, and later the Battle of the Bulge. The driver had it shipped back home where his father would pick it up. It was completely original (aside from the tires and paint) and was loaded with everything it went to war with. In order to be eligeable to purchase it, the owner agreed he would use it in reenactments and continue to tell it’s story.
In the pictures of the MB with the front ammo box, there is indeed an airplane flying above! I even got to ride around the camps in the slat grille.

Tom need some help with his FC bumper and asked me to post this. He hopes to either locate the brackets and spacers he needs or get templates for them.
He writes, “Recently, I was able to buy a Ramsey Winch Bumper for my FC-170. Unfortunately, the bumper did not include the mounting brackets and 1″ spacers. Please let me know if you have any of these parts. Even if you aren’t interested in selling, I would like to get some paper templates so I can recreate them if necessary. Your help is appreciated. Here are some pictures of the parts I need.”
Bob spotted this wagon at the Wisconsin Dells’ Automation Show. After a little searching I realized it was the same wagon we’d photographed at the 2013 Willys Midwest Reunion.
Marc discovered these rare La Jeep booklets on eBay.

Joe reported the following: Wanted to share some pics of a Willys MB, delivery date 3/8/45, that was auctioned in a South Bethany Beach, Delaware estate sale on Saturday, May 15, 2015. Winning bid was $3,450. The jeep appeared to be mostly complete with a majority of hard-to-find-items intact including a tandem tow bar but had lots of surface rust with only one area of rust-through. The motor is seized. Title status was unknown at the time of sale. Proves once again that these little gems are still out there, even after 70 years!!!
