Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. It took a chance on this January 1957 issue of True Adventures and bought it on eBay hoping to find an article that included jeeps. But, I struck out. There was nothing but scantily clad women (not that I was complaining), fantastical stories, and silly advertisements.

I can’t tell if this is a CJ or MB chassis (or perhaps a 3A chassis).

It has been sitting under a tarp for 12 – 15 years. The motor is seized. Floor boards are gone and has lots of rust with scale rust on the frame. Seat frames are rusty with no material left on seats. One tire is flat and one wheel is locked up. This jeep has sat a long time. This will be sold in “AS IS” condition as I have described to the best of my knowledge. I would suggest this is a “Parts Only” vehicle. It’s NOT running, not drivable and must be trailered. It also has a good clean title. ”

I haven’t felt well today, so just a few updates. Rich shared these two articles related to JeepFest in Toledo this weekend. He tells that the local ABC affiliate is a sponsor, so he expects to see a few more stories.

(06/23/2016) Has a couple updates. Looks nice.
“This is my 48 Jeep CJ2A. It’s all steel with 12 volt electrics. It has upgraded steering with locking hubs. It also has disc brakes on the front. It has a full soft top w/doors and a Bikini top. It also has a set of 4 “wagon wheel” rims.-See last pic for shot of rims and Bikini top. I also have some spare parts I got from the former owner. I’m only selling the Jeep cause I need to thin out the herd. She’s been sitting all winter so she could use a tune up. Clear antique title in hand.”

(11/24/2015) This has a funky roll bar setup, but the builder must have wanted to anchor the rear loops to the frame.

Brian Hainer has begun making some videos showing how he makes body parts out of sheet metal. He’s finished a couple videos already. He’ll soon be completing a series of videos on how to fabricate a complete Willys body.
