• CATEGORIES: CJ-2A, MB This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1450

(08/23/2016) The chassis is from a CJ-2A.

“I have a 1942 Willy MB project. I do not have the time or space to complete this the way I would like it. I have all the components, hood, grille, fenders, tub, frame, wheels/tires, seat, fuel tank, steering shaft and wheel, axels, motor and transmission. The frame is from a 1947 CJ-2 I was modifying it to be like the 1942 frame. This is where I have run into trouble the frame is setup for the T-90 transmission not the T-84 I want to have on it. I also have another motor. It is title and registered. Engine does run. Everything is apart right now waiting for the right person to complete. ”

Tuesday Sep. 27th: … Then I Lost My Wedding Ring

• CATEGORIES: Features • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

On Tuesday we drove from Dallas to Denham Springs, Louisiana. The drive itself was uneventful, but not without its challenges:

2016-09-28-dallas-denhamsprings

Our drive from Dallas to Denham Springs, LA.

2016-09-28-dallas-dfwairport

Uh oh … this is a tight squeeze!!

1) When returning the rental car we had for two days, I was driving the motorhome and missed the turn for car rental returns. Instead, I headed straight towards Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport…….. There were no other options. I had to drive very slowly going through the concrete barriers to get my entry ticket. I fit, but barely. I estimate that I had two inches on either side of the motorhome. Ann was behind me and took a photo. Well, I did have to sacrifice a little bit of the generator tailpipe, which apparently stuck out the side a little too far.

2016-09-28-dallas-dfwairport2

Hmm … something’s not quite right, but it will work.

2) I turned over the driving to Ann after we left Dallas so I could get some eWillys done. I took off my wedding ring to type (which I always do) and set it in front of me on a sweater. That sweater got upended at some point and the ring rolled somewhere in the motorhome. Sigh.
3) When we arrived at the KOA trailer park about 9pm (reserved and paid for a site), we discovered the staff had left NO check-in info, so we took the LAST available site even though earlier in the day the reservations gal said only a back-in sit was available.
4) It seems this park includes much of Baton Rouge. We’re guessing a good number of these folks are recent flood victims  🙁
5) Our trailer neighbors just got done partying, but left a friend passed out on the bench 5 feet from our door. The scene is complete with bottles scattered everywhere. Oh well. Maybe they are finally watching the toddlers that were running in front of our rig as I tried to park it.
6) On the opposite side of us was a couple from New York who asked for help getting their cable to work.  We were never able to make that work.
8) Our trailer was invaded by some local bug life as we searched for my ring.

Yet, we are still having fun. It’s all part of the adventure!! Once we get done with our visit, we have to decide how to proceed home. We are unsure of which route to take.

1962 FC-170 Butte, MT **Status Unknown**

• CATEGORIES: FC150-FC170-M677 This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **Status Unknown** Was For Trade.

It’s a project.

“I’ve got this cool old truck ive been tinkering on for a year now. Ive replaced various things and though it runs good when it runs, i just can’t get it right. Its got lots of rust and some body damage but all the parts are there except for the bed. Original gas tank was hopeless so it’s running off a fuel cell. Its got 2 inch wheel spacers to accommodate the larger tires but still have the original rims. Its a one ton.
This truck would make a really cool hunting rig or just something to drive around in the mountains if you want to put the work into it. It IS a project. They’re quite rare. Have clean title in hand.

Id like to trade this for a good running 3/4 ton or better truck.
The bigger the better, needs to pull a travel trailer. Im open to an suv or even a van if its heavy and in good shape.
I don’t know what the truck’s worth but i dont want to trade for anything with major issues. I don’t mind something ugly. Just depends what it’s worth to you. Please send pics. Thanks for reading.”

• CATEGORIES: CJ-3B This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $400.

It’s a parts jeep. There could be some value here.

“1956 Willys Jeep CJ2A for parts or restoration if you are ambitious. This was originally used at the airport as a baggage conveyor in the 50’s and 60’s. It was running as late as 1995. The passenger side of the body was modified for the conveyer. The engine, transmission, transfercase, front axle, steering, brakes, frame seat, gas tank and dash are intact. The rear end has been removed but there is one loose that appears to be for a Jeep. It comes with original documents and bill of sale from the airport. It was not titled since it was not intended to be driven on the street. You will receive a bill of sale. You will need to be able to load it onto a trailer for transport.

Email if interested and for more information. We will be available Friday 9/30 to 10/2 and can show it at that time. It is located near downtown Eugene. ”

Monday, Sep. 26th: Water, Reining & More Raining

• CATEGORIES: Features • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.
2016-09-27-holly4

My niece Holly showing us around SMU’s stables and arena.

On Monday we hung around the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Today we are heading for Baton Rouge, Louisiana. (See Monday’s post here: http://www.ewillys.com/2016/09/26/goodbye-west-texas-hello-wet-texas/)

map

First we went south to Fort Worth. My mid afternoon we were back at the motorhome. Then, we left for Dallas for a few hours.

On Monday I had a carefully orchestrated plan, had being the operative word. Things went awry early in the morning. First, was learning that the Cowgirl museum and Bowling museums in Fort Worth were closed on Mondays. Drats! Then, someone who she remained unnamed announced she didn’t want to go to any more museums. Oh, the joys of travel companions! But, then we discovered that the Fort Worth Bureau of Engraving and Printing was open on weekdays. Everyone was fine with that, so we were off (two hours later than planned).

2016-09-27-cowboy-indian

As we were getting in the car, we realized that our shirts were appropriate for Texas.

Before visiting the mint, we decided to head downtown Fort Worth while traffic was light to see the Fort Worth Water Gardens. They turned out to be really cool!

I Was So Tired Last Night That …

• CATEGORIES: News This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

…. I managed to schedule this morning’s update on the wrong date. And, it was just the simple update below:

We had a very slow start yesterday for reasons that shall remain in confidence due to the sensitive nature of the person who slowly got ready, delaying our departure, and who was not Ann nor I. The slow departure kept us from spending as much time as we’d hoped in downtown Fort Worth. More on that tomorrow.

Later on in the day, the two fast morning-dressers went out on their own and had a lovely afternoon meeting with Jesse and Andrea Ybarra, then a wonderful dinner with my niece, who is feeling the affects of being away from home as a Freshman in college. Our timing with her couldn’t have been better.

When we returned to the motorhome, I received an email that may lead to an incredible jeep-related opportunity, which could change our travel plans slightly. I’ll know more later today.

However, right now (that would be late Monday evening) I’m exhausted, so this is the only post for Tuesday morning. Stayed tuned …. I will post Tuesday afternoon if our travel plans change.
