Frame and body is exceptional condition with only a few signs of rust on the body. Set for 3 years without running. Started right up and idled for short time. (03/10/2024) This has a GPW body. It may also have a rare Dumas or Carson middle seat (can’t tell for sure). It also has an unusual modified, but probably handy, cowl.

“1953 Willys CJ3A. No engine, had a ford 4cyl. I believe it has a GPW body going by the fuel tank filling under the driver’s seat , rear toolbox’s on fenders and no tailgate. Has been modified with a storage space under the windshield. Homemade lift shackles on the springs. Not in bad shape for its age. Clear Wyoming title. Sold as is. I do have a fresh rebuilt iron duke engine for sale for an additional charge.”

In between various chores, I’ve completed the gas pedal linkage. It is most definitely a stronger setup and, to be honest, a bit of overkill, but it should hold up well. I will get some better pics when I tear it apart for some final clean up and paint.

2024-05-19-gas-pedal-linkage1Underneath, there is a bracket that secures the cable in place and provides a place to secure the spring. Forward of that is the cam. When the pedal is depressed, the cam arm is pushed down, which rotates the assembly counter clockwise, pulling the accelerator cable forward.

You can also see in the pics the new cover plate where originally the transmission shifter would come through the wheel well and, in the case of this FC, a spot that was updated to accommodate the Wilwood proportioner. The proportioner has been turned sideways and now must be access via the engine compartment, which was done to stop curious hands from playing with it.

Jerry Huber shared this unusually modified DJ-5. It’s now a draught jeep, modified by and for Tapped 419, which provides draft beer (or root beer) for parties via a Fire Truck and now a DJ-5.

I have volunteers to help with cutting and then painting the vehicle. We have a trucking company that will take care shipping. So basically looking for a WW2 Willys that nobody else (maybe?) would want (junk, no engine, etc.)”

“Note: This Jeep does not have a title.  It will be sold with a bill of sale only based on engine number – MD 65930.  Don’t read any further if you can’t deal with buying it on a bill of sale only.  Getting a title is possible through a title company or through the DMV in your state once you purchase it depending on the laws in your state.

Offered for sale is a one-of-a-kind clone of the infamous Willys 1950 X-98 prototype.  This type jeep was never mass produced as it was a transitional jeep Willys proposed in1950 with new hood lines to accommodate the overhead valve F-Head engine.  Only a handful of originals were built with no known survivors.  This project was completed in 2023 and was recently featured in the Fall 2023 edition of “The Dispatcher” Magazine.  I built this jeep based on the work of Bob Westerman who also recreated this missing link in early jeep evolution – our two are the only two working models known to exist today.
