(10/01/2016) It’s a project that includes a Sears half cab.
“For Sale 1947 CJ2
(I thought it was an CJ2a but there is no “a” on the title)
CLEAR TITLE,
Has been partly taken down for body work… my Son was tinkering with it, but it needs alot of work and we don’thave the time.
4 cyl “Go Devil” Engine: Not running… Needs either mechanical work or just replacement. (Allot of folks just swap out the old motors for Chev 350’s)
Has a half Cab: probably a Sears model they were very popular back in the day.
Front Hubs: “WARN”
New Steering wheel”
I found this great old mailer on eBay. It was likely published at the end of WWII, as there are no references to the CJ-2A. You can learn more about Hyman Berg here.
Here’s the front side of the mailer:
I’ve split the front of the mailer into sections so it can be better seen. This part shows a closeup of the front and back of mailer when folded:
British soldiers are being transported over the river Orne.
“approx. 5″ x 6” Typewriter Release glued to back of photograph Stae Department issued 1944 Very good vintage condition with only minor waves or creases if any Please see images”
Looks like a restoration process stalled.
“1962 willys wrecker want it gone call for info”
Has a few updates, but there’s some stock MB still here.
“1943 Willy Military Jeep, complete overhaul motor-transmission & transfer case – complete overhaul of all brakes-new seats-12v system==clean title=( have kept black tag up to date ) Run Fine (Serious inquire only)”
It runs.
“Selling this jeep to help pay for LDS mission. Body has a few dents on the corners and has about a quarter sized hole rusted out on the driver side rear corner and by the driver side door. The soft top is pretty much useless. Needs a little work but it runs well and sounds amazing. It has a Clifford 6=8, msd ignition control, new battery, new U-joints, and a recently rebuilt carburetor”
Hasn’t run in five years.
“1946 Willy’s Jeep with Title. Was running when it was parked about five years ago. Engine is still free. Have Title. VIN# J76896
Buyer pays $55.00 Documentation Fee, Taxes, Title, Transfer and Registration Fees at time of pickup. Driver’s License and proof of Insurance required.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $2500.
Looks like a good price if the rust isn’t bad.
“jeep is in very good shape. no rust holes in tub. one spot of surface rust below passenger door. chevy 283 engine. runs well. 4 speed trans and twin stick transfer case. 4 wheel drive works. no top but has snaps and brackets for one. rebuilt rochester carb. “
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $7500.
Listed as an M-38, it looks more like a CJ-3A.
“Jeep 1950 Willys M38 with F-Head “Hurricane” 134 Cu. In. Engine. Full Roll Cage With Rack, Fuel Cell. Good Tires and Service Manual. Runs Great!”
Needs some work and has some civilian parts, but there’s still enough here to check it out.
“1942 Willys MB body on CJ2A frame. Runs and drives well. All it would need to be a driver is the drivers side rear blinker replaced front drivers blinker and the brakes need adjusting. Body is quite solid for a 74 year old Jeep. Engine runs and shift through the gears but could probably use a tune up. Can be towed easily using the attached tow bar even at freeway speeds. ”
There looks to be parts value here.
“1946 Jeep Willy’s – rolling chassis, several extra parts, some parts are questionable for reuse (as shown in pictures), No title and no identification plate, bought jeep for parts years ago, tires are rotting but will hold air for short time, also have an extra jeep frame that is not in the pictures. ”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $135.
Craig notes this is an MB head.
“Willys flat head jeep motor, the motor is not frozen turns freely.”
UPDATE: Price dropped to $2500.
(11/17/2015) This appears to be the same jeep that was sold a few years ago, but it’s condition appears to be worsened. If it has the “314” on the fenders, then it is the same one.
“1954 Willys Jeep it is actually a Mp38a it has a Buick 231 odd fire V6 with power steering also has headers. It is 3 speed manual with twin stick transfer case At one point it was the brookville Fire dept. grass unit. It is great running and driving jeep it has a lot of new front end parts on it. I took the gas tank out that sets under the drivers seat and put one underneath the back put its not hooked up yet I put a boat tank in the back just to be able to move it around you can drive it it could also use floor pans it has had all new rear tub section replaced with little work this could be a very nice jeep. ”
This rotary broom by Newgren was published in the 1948 Willys-Overland Equipment Book. It was the only sweeper included in the book. The cost was $725.
Could be a good price.

“1944 MB willys jeep, (titled 1944) I ran the motor and frame numbers through Keizer willys. Both came back as mb. The tub they say is a cj2 not sure if this is correct or not.
Motor has been rebuilt by original owner maybe 1500 miles on it.
3speed tranny, 4 cylinder engine, newer top, tires and wheels.”
Lights need wiring. Step has been modified and drain hole filled.
“Looks military but only painted that way. Seats, brakes, tie rod ends new. Soft top included. 12 volt system. Runs and drives great, no smoke or leaks. Lights need to be wired. Everything else works wipers, horn, siren. Tires are old, fine for off road, but not recommended for highway. Top speed 50 mph. Must have $6900 or will trade for old Harley”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $250.
“Very old Willys pickup, parts truck. Some good sheet metal parts, glass, front and rear difs., trans and transfer case, other misc. parts.Must be trailered.”
Soft looks in pretty good shape. There’s value here.
“Great project car. Originally deployed as a Marine Ordinance vehicle. Engine requires work to run (I know of a rebuilt one available for $600 – easy to put in), and brakes need work. Rolls and shifts through all gears easily. Converted from 24V to 12V. Some rust, but solid car. Odometer shows 52,085 – unknown if accurate. Original placards show the history of this solid vehicle. Full manual reprints go with car. Let me know if you have questions or want more pictures, or want to see it. Some additional parts convey with vehicle. You will need a trailer to take it away.”
It ran two months ago …
“I have a 1948 Willys Jeep 4×4, perfect for deer lease. Welded rear end will go anywhere, full roll cage for safety, 231 v6, 4×4 works, seats good. NO TITLE. Good looking Jeep, almost 70 years old tho, steering has slop, brakes work but need work. I rebuilt master cylinder and larger brakes and drums on the front about 5 yrs ago.$2500 firm. May trade for 1 ton axles and tires for my Jeep Lj, or Several things that go boom. Let me know what you got, thanks

I’m not sure how much value is here.
“Hybrid jeep. 1988 Suzuki Samurai running gear with M38 reproduction military jeep body. This a a project that needs work but have most of the parts to complete it.
Engine and trans are not mounted in the frame, has been set back 4 inches to fit Willys body. Transmission case is cracked but is complete.
Comes with original samurai wheels. Have passenger side seat for it.
Will need to be hauled on a trailer.”
Might make an inexpensive base for a project.
“1949 Willies sedan delivery hot rod project. Was set up in the 70s , camaro clip and Ford rear end. It’s a bit rough but a good start to a vintage hot rod. Open to reasonable offers and trades”
UPDATE: Still Available.
(06/11/2016) Not sure how much value is here.
“This is a very old willies Jeep. All the parts are original. It plowed snow. I believe it still runs. It would make a good restoring project for someone who’s interested in those things. I have a lot of memories growing up with that jeep. It be great to see it go to someone who has time for it.There is no title.
1,000.00 or Best Offer”
