UPDATE: For some reason the comments were turned off on the original post, so I made this new one.
Today begins the 10th year of eWillys. What began as a handful of posts and a couple of readers has mushroomed into over 40,000 pages that reach people around the world. Along the way I picked up a new wife, journeyed all over the US, and made lots of great friends. It’s been an wonderful experience and the longest “job” I’ve ever had. The reality is, it’s far more than a job. It’s become a part of me.
The other day I asked Ann if I should call it quits at the end of year 10. I explained that I’m seeing more and more activity on Facebook groups and on Twitter streams and I’m sure there’s much more happening on Youtube channels, Instagram, and other newer media that I don’t (yet capture). I told her that a website seems so old school at this point (perhaps olde skool is more accurate). But then, the newer types of media are more like streams of consciousness than reservoirs of knowledge like websites can be. So, I asked Ann what should the role of eWillys within the changing media landscape be and what will that landscape look like in another five years?
She just stared at me as I explained all this and asked, “What would you do if you didn’t do eWillys every evening?” She’s right. I have no idea.
So, eWillys will be marching onward for the foreseeable future. I do have some ideas for some changes to improve the timelines of the site. We’ll see how it all goes…
Have a Happy New Year!
A buddy of Scott’s wanted to reuse this unrepairable tailgate for something, so Scott created this cool bench.

“1951 Military M38 Jeep Willys with tow bar attached to the front for sale. Bought not to long ago looking to fix up, but haven’t had the time to do it. Before me, previous owner had it since the 50’s. Body is rusty and will need a lot of work, especially on the floor pans and the floor in the back, but the original pieces will make it a really nice finished product. Has original dash, seats (not pictured), cargo attatchments on the sides, steering wheel, and entire body. Body was given fiberglass coating in the 70’s, and is painted green but chipping off. The front windshield folds down and has the military air vents and storage containers. According to the original owner, his father got it in the 50’s directly from the military. New engine has less than 6500 miles and will start and run. Includes spare tire attached to rear passenger side. Don’t drive it at all, but will fire up after a quick charge of the battery.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $500
Maybe someone can save this?

(05/31/2016) Rough, but is supposed to run.
” I have a 1946 Willys Jeep I think it has the original engine 4 cyl. It has willys Jeep printed on head. Engine runs, very good . I drove it from front of house to rear, several years back. That’s as far as I have drove it. steering was a little stiff, I guess because of large tires. The floors have been replaced with steel checker plate, has a portable boat type gas tank with electric fuel pump. 12v system not 6v. . Needs restoring. A brake line needs replaced. 3200.00 This Jeep is 70 years old, so if your looking for a mint condition one for 3200.00 This is not it!!!! Just had the starter re-built & spark-plugs, points, condenser , on Confederate Memorial day 4/25/16 …….. No Need To Ask If I Still Have It, I will remove ad, when it sells. also, for you out of state folks, Alabama has no titles for cars this old. (look it up)”
Thanks to Sarah Staples for giving eWillys jeep experts a nod in her newest article. We helped her identify this wagon as a 1961 Traveller. She told me that the rarity of the vehicle helped her sell the travel piece to her editor. She wrote it for “Postmedia Driving, the driving section of newspapers across Canada.”
Blaine was channel surfing over the holidays and happened upon a little known Tom Selleck movie with Jeepneys in it. He says the film shows “streets filled with Jeepneys in the Philippines”. The 1972 movie is called the Daughter’sof Satan. Boy has Tom Select come a long way!!
Here’s one example that was posted to the imcdb.org site:
Here’s some poster art from the movie

Second, 1984 CJ7 w/ 258 that runs & has some rust. Last is 1967 CJ5 w/ 225 that does not start and needs work. If interested, you’ll need a trailer and cash.
