(11/20/2015) This is worth a look.
“For sale 1930 classic car jeep willy call”
This two page article appeared in the July 1953 issue of Hot Rod Magazine. It’s mostly a photographic spread about the trek over the Anza Trail. Six hundred folks in one hundred and sixty jeeps participated in the trip.
I’m pretty confident that WWII ended in 1945 ….
“This is a 1948 Willy’s Jeep CJ2a made by Kaiser Steel in California. These were made by 3 companies during World War II. Kaiser made by far the most of them. They were made to be sturdy and take an extreme pounding. The simplicity of their systems made them really easy to repair and keep on the road. They are great for a fun family off road vehicle. Or for use in parades or other promotional events. They aren’t meant for modern highways as their top speed is around 55 mph. However these vehicles will almost climb telephone poles.
There are not many places an old CJ won’t take you in the backcountry. This has the original L134 4 Cylinder Flathead Engine it originally came with. Not sure about the running condition of the motor. It is numbers matching and all there. It sat in a garage for at least 12 years. According to the original owners when they parked it in the garage it was in running condition. We acquired this thinking of restoring it but then we got another project that needs to take precedence. The only thing not original is its been upgraded to an alternator. This gives it much better and reliable charging than the original 6 volt system”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $6000
(11/14/2016) Runs and drives. I can’t tell if the interior is any good or not.
“Selling my 1951 Willys Jeep Overland Wagon. Matching numbers, all original New Mexico Jeep. Overall condition is good to very good. This Jeep came with the F4-134 Hurricane 4 cylinder motor which was only offered in 50 & 51 for the 4×4 model 63. Motor, front differential, hubs, trans & transfer case are all in good working order. Runs great! And drives as well as can be expected for a 65 yr old Jeep. New correct size tires, but not OEM. Brakes are in good working order. Paint & stainless bright work in excellent shape w/only one spot rust on the body. Interior in good condition & has all the original seats. Gauges are original eqiupment & all of them work. Headliner is missing, but have a new OEM replacement. Bought this Jeep in hopes of finishing the restoration. Just don’t have enough time for everything so it must find a new home. This Jeep really needs to stay in New Mexico! Hope there’s some interest out there for it. Really must see to appreciate. Have clean NM title in hand. ”
Look solid.
“Refurbished from the frame up. Original flat 4 engine and body. This is a great winter project. With very little work that need to be completed. While it does not currently run. We did put s little gas in the carburetor and it fired right up. Has the title, but the serial numbers don’t match perfectly. This is common for these types of vehicles since this is the first civilian model, they were trying to use the supply of WWII parts.
Things still needed to be worked on:
1) wiring harness need hooked up
2) new tires
3) possibly a second seat
4) driving assembly needs connected.
That’s it. About 200 dollars of parts and labor you have an almost show room quality Willy’s ready to go. I am getting a divorce and it needs to go. That the only reason why I’m selling it.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3000.

This is a pretty early GPW, #10584.
“GPW 10584 Matching Frame and Engine.
This is a Special Jeep for a Special Collection. This is the rare model of Ford jeeps which were built on Willys Frames before Ford could Produce its on frames.
Complete Restoration of Entire Jeep. Engine, Transmission, transfer case, differentials etc.
Body is all original with a nice F script on the rear. Much time was taken to preserve as many F bolts as possible and keep the jeep in original condition.
Jeep is in Excellent running condition and is a true museum piece. Looks as if it just rolled off factory lines. Not one to take 4 wheeling.”
