I wonder if it stopped working before it rolled into the water? That would explain the raised hood.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $8000.
PLEASE READ THIS CAREFULLY:: It’s not clear to me why this DJ-3A is listed on a UK site or whether this is a real ad, but it’s an interesting DJ-3A none-the-less. What I think has happened is that the description and photos may have been scraped from eBay. I looked for this jeep on eBay, but could not find it.
“First of all. must start by saying that this NOT a post office jeep. In 1955 &1956 Willys put out this vehicle & called it a Jeep Dispatcher / Delivery vehicle . deal for use in congested metropolitan areas. To me it’s just a cool little jeep. This jeep had a frame off restoration a couple years back. t that time the original owner changed the transmission from a manual 3 speed synchromesh to a turbo 350 automatic with a 6 volt system. The original transmission is included. very nut &bolt was saved just incase to switch it back. The jeep is in great shape & runs good. Just had it inspected in may 2013. can’t think of anything it needs. esides maybe a tune up. $500. Paypal deposit is required at end of auction. Balance to be paid within 7 days with postal mo. ank check or cash. Buyer is responsible for arranging shipping. I’ll be glad to assist in loading or working with you. Contact me with any questions .”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $4000.
May be worth a look. Has a Sears / Mongomery Ward hardtop.
“1959 willys jeep. Nice color blue, and has an aftermarket Montgomery ward topper. Has upgraded battery system from 6 to 12 volt battery. Runs good,”
UPDATE:**SOLD**
(11/06/2016) Needs some work. There aren’t many of these around.
“This is a second, project unit that I have for sale.
1984 AMC Jeep CJ8 Alaskan postal version (right hand drive!!!). It has an inline 258 6-cylinder and is an automatic (very rare for older jeeps) 4×4. Floor shift with floor-mounted, hand-operated emergency brake. This Jeep is a project Jeep. Runs and lot drives, but wouldn’t trust it for longer trips currently. There is significant rust-triugh in the driver’s side (RH) floor and above the wheel wells in the tub. The Top and doors are solid. As with most Postals, the frame is rust-free.

Nick’s got this project for sale.
“For sale is a 1946 Willys CJ2A project with a title. I have begun to get the Jeep running again but don’t have any more time. Was told by the last owner it was driven 5 years ago. This would be a great off-road toy or farm rig.
Engine is stuck. I pulled the head off, and checked the head to ensure it’s within head gasket tolerances. Engine was soaked in ATF for a couple weeks. I rewired and used the starter to bump the engine over a few times, and the pistons moved about an inch. It still needs worked. Good news is the engine isn’t completely seized in place.
Piston condition looks decent overall. 3 pistons look great and 1 has some pitting on the top. From its current rotation, the cylinder walls are all clean.
Frame is in good shape except for the driver rear which is shown in the pictures. The rest is solid with no rust-through spots. Front frame horns are straight. Body is rough as seen in the pictures. 2 tires hold air, 2 tires leak. Slight dry rotting but have almost new tread which are fine for off-road use.
Clutch pedal shaft was stuck but a prybar on the throwout bearing will move the clutch free. I worked the pedal shaft a bit.
You may come view this in a heated shop, and we have equipment to push right up your trailer. Feel free to call/text anytime of day.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $2200.

“Great driver quality with excellent mechanicals. Converted to 12V with all new wireing. 4 Clyinder engine w/ overhead valves and 3 on the tree standard transmission. Electric cooling fan, new fuel pump, alternator, brakes, etc. Always a California car, so no rust issues at all. Has 1 older repaint with awsome patina, original color was wheat w/ black belt. Like new black interior, carpet, top and side curtains. New radial tires, old bias ply spare for personality. Working heater. Overdrive, horn, and radio not hooked up. Installed 3 sets of seatbelts for the grandkids in the back seat. Lots of fun and always get a bunch of great comments wherever we go. ”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $6500.
(05/29/2015) Has some rust.
“1952 USMC version. Running condition and partial rebuilt. Own a piece of military history made in America. I personalized this to Olive Drab like the Army Jeeps, but the true USMC version is painted in Mountain Green, which is just a dark green color. With some minor work, you can have this ready for the July 4th parade or just a weekend vehicle to show off.
Seller was trying to sell these. Now he just wants to get rid of them.
“I have a bunch of random parts from rebuilding/working on my 1960 Willys wagon, I was trying to sell them, now I just want them gone.. It’s got a 1970 Ford 250 in it so there is stuff for both. There are a set of stock shocks, mismatched locking hubs, a generator, water pumps, some coils some distributer caps, some plug wires, miscellaneous hardware… All ranging from beat to hell to brand new. A great deal at 100 bucks but you have to take it all! I’m just tired of storing it all so come and get it!”
Gary shared this interesting post about early car racing in Woodstock, New York. Some of these custom race cars were equipped with pre-war Willys engines. So, while not much of a “jeep” story, there is a tenuous link to this interesting bit of regional history.
Christian has finalized this year’s Willys-Am Tegernesee reunion. It will take place from July 7th till July 9th with the main event on Saturday, July 8th , including an extracool little concert of some oldtime blues. I can’t go this year, but maybe Ann and I can figure out how to get there in 2018. We have been wanting to tour Europe, meet readers, and chase some more family history, but have delayed that opportunity for several years.
In late April this year’s Colonna della Liberta / Column of Liberation in Italy will take place. Date to be finalized.
