Craig spotted this one. It is mostly a CJ-5.The body is civilian also (side of the body is stamped “Jeep”), but it has an M-38A1 dash.
“Posting up my 1957 Jeep CJ. It’s a CJ-5 made by willys overland and is dressed up to look like an M38-A1 Which is the military version on this jeep model. I’ve owned it for a little over 2 years, the previous owner started a frame off restoration and was working toward the military theme but lost interest. I decided to source the rest of the parts and finish it off. It’s completely rust free and everything works. The 4cylinder motor runs great and the 3-speed manual transmission shifts well. The 4wheel drive works as well and has a high and low range with front manual locking hubs.
It has 5 good BFG AT/KOs and runs about 55mph down the road with no issues. Has brand new paint and decals and working lights and gauges. The only issues are the rear pinion seal leaks and the generator needs to be rebuilt. It runs fine without it I just keep a tender on the battery and never have a probkem. Comes with a dummy 50 Cal mounted in the back. I’m sure there’s a lot I’m missing but if you’re interested feel free to call or text and I can give you further details. This has been a great jeep and lots of fun just time to move on to something else. Looking to Get $9000 but will entertain reasonable offers if you’re a serious buyer”
There are quite a few good parts here and the blue one runs.
“I have two Willys Jeeps for sale. Both for one price, will not separate. A 1962 DJ-3A & a 1965 DJ-3A. They are both restorable, but in rough condition. The 1965 (mostly blue) runs good an drives but is not complete. The 1962 (mostly green) has been sitting for
a long time and does not run but, it is complete except for the radiator, battery & tailgate. everything else is there and it rolls. These are Dispatcher Jeeps and are rear wheel drive. One is floor shift & the other is column shift. They are the old style flathead engines, flat hood & flat fenders.
If you want to build a Gala, or one of the other DJ models, This is all you need to start. I have clear titles for both.
Sadly, all glass has been broken out & there is a lot of rust. Check photos carefully. $1,800.00 cash, no trades, will not separate.”
UPDATE: Status Unknown. Was $2500.
Craig shared this one. There might be value here. The seller is away and his parents are selling it. It’s not clear if they can sign off on the title or not (Based on PA law, it may depend on when the title was issued).
“3 speed manual, four cylinder. New Mickey Thompson Baja claw tires. 8000lb Ramsey winch. Brakes and clutch are brand new. Rear differential may need some attention as well as fuel pump (…or fuel filter). It ran in the fall, but now it only runs if fuel is added manually into carb. Some simple TLC will have this up and running in no time. Body is really in decent shape and was being prepped for paint. I am in the military and I don’t have time to work on it. My parents are my contacts for I am unfortunately not available at this time”
Every year the Italians celebrate the Colonna della Libertá (Column of Liberation). CeePee and his friends from Bavaria once again made their way down to join the event in their jeeps. It had snowed two days prior to their trip south, so it sounds like it was a chilly drive.
CeePee reports they had a good time, as always. One of the people he met for the first time was Italian Gregory Alegi (read more about his trip here), who in 2013 drove an MB with his friend to Toledo. Ann and I almost had a chance to meet up with Gregory, but we couldn’t make the timing work.
On their return trip to Germany, CeePee wrote that his group was nearly swept away with rain. Still, it didn’t dampen their spirits. Thanks for sharing your trip with us!
UPDATE: Jeffrey’s Data plate:
Originally published May 01, 2017: Nick Oxender added this data plate from a Navy CJ-3A to his collection. According to him, this one was found at a flea market 5 years ago. It’s in excellent shape – the only “wear” being from the dash screws. The previous owner suspects one of the guys was out on the town and totaled the Jeep, and all that survived was the tag. Either that, or someone thought it looked nice and swiped it.
This data plate was so nice Nick was skeptical about whether it was real or not. After quite a bit of research, he found one guy that made a small run of them, but those weren’t produced within the time frame of when this one was found.
Does the CJ-3A page have a list of Navy plates? Might be an interesting this to assemble.
We didn’t have time to stop and inspect it, but Ann spotted this MB/GPW at our local Yoke’s Grocery Store parking lot. It looked in good shape.
Ben’s got his FC for sale.
“Rare Forward Control Jeep for sale. Ran even and well when I parked it about 6 years ago. Do not have time or resources to restore…could be an amazing crawler or restoration project!
It is a ton of fun to drive.

Manual transmission.
Title and maintenance book in hand.”
Has some power lock hubs on the front and a few other non-standard items, but looks solid.
“A Ford GPW military Jeep. New tires, brakes, exhaust and rebuilt carb. ”

“Rare Willy’s wagon, 4 wheel drive, body only, no motor, no transmission. Jeep wagoneer. Paid $900 for it and then another $600 for front and rear axles, so no low balls. Project for sure but distinctive Americana.”
UPDATE: Price dropped to $1100.
(04/07/2017) It’s a roller. Might be an aftermarket body?
“Clean CA 1946 CJ2A title in my name
CJ2A body, no windshield frame
Stock frame as best I can tell, someone did a saginaw steering conversion
Stock axles
No motor, trans, transfer case, or driveshafts.
I already cut out the bus seat.
This could be a fun Jeep project, hot rod, sand jeep, resto. I was really looking for a driver but this is a larger project than I can tackle at the moment.”
UPDATE: **Status Unknown** Was $750.
(10/30/2016) “I have a project that I bought, but I’m just not going to get to it. It looks to be a late 40’s CJ. The engine, transmission and t-case are missing. This would be a great project, drop in a modern V6 and Willys trans & t-case.
The tub is very clean, hardly any rust. Fenders are in OK shape. I have a hood and CJ3a windshield frame that I can include, too. Have a bunch of spare parts I can include, like a radiator, spare steering column, t-case skid plate, front & rear driveshafts, etc.
No title, sold with a bill of sale.”
More parts have been painted. On my next visit to Seattle (in a couple days?) I will be pulling the brakes to see what I need, checking the rear end, and working on the gas tank and readying that for installation.
Today I’ll be cleaning the and painting the bell housing and cleaning the generator and starter.
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $6000.
