Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “This is an old black & white photograph of a Jeep station wagon advertising American Relief for Poland. The car has a message board on the roof which reads: “Poland Needs Your Help Help the Children of Poland Tag Day Sept. 13th and 14th”. The car also says: “6000 Dubois MAdison 1644”. The latter is an old-style telephone number (this style was phased out in the 1950’s), and the former is likely an address. American Relief for Poland was formed in 1929 and was active at least through the 1950’s. The Jeep station wagon was introduced in 1946. I can’t see much of the clothing of the people in the background, but what I can see seems to look more like 1940’s or 1950’s clothes than later. A “tag day” is a day on which contributions for a charitable cause are solicited; the donors are given a tag in return. The photo is in good condition apart from some curl to it. It measures almost 7 inches long by 5 inches tall. I got this near Cleveland, Ohio, and I don’t have any other information about it; there is no identification on the back.”

Dan believes the wagon might be a traveller. It looks to have sliding side windows, while the Parkway Conversion’s side windows were always fixed flush mount whereas the Traveller could have either.

“Looking to sell my 1963 Willys Wagon. I hate to sell it but have too many projects right now and not enough money for them all. It has the Tornado 230 6-cylinder engine, runs great. I have installed a new poly gas tank, fuel pump and new air filter system so it runs clean.
Factory 3 speed manual transmission
As with most 50 year old vehicles there is some rust, which is in the back quarter panel, but not too its not too bad, still very solid body.
I drive it to work ocassionally when the weather is nice, its a clean looking reliable antique vehicle that gets many looks and compliments as there aren’t many on the road anymore. Perfect for crusing the backroads on the nice days ahead.”

UPDATE: Bill Norris learned this is the 5th Maverick produced. In addition, only the first 100 had the rare emblem.

“I’m selling my 1958 Jeep Willys Wagon. I have put so much into this Jeep, I think it’s one of the better buy’s for this price to be found. This Jeep is NOT 100% restored, but I drive this Jeep just about everyday. I am at a point where I need to start putting my money into my “new” house. I bought this Jeep for $2,000 as a rust bucket in 2010 (rust free jeep now, as I have cut out all rust and welded in new metal parts). I have put over $15,000 into this Jeep since then and am only looking to get half my money back. If you have any questions please email me. If you live around St. Louis, MO come take a look/drive. If you live far away, I can pick you up from the airport if you like. I would never buy a car without driving/looking at it first.
