“1947 Willys Overland “Jeep” 2-wheel drive station wagon model 4-63
In late 1946 Jeep introduced the first all steel body station wagon, supposedly because of the advances in steel manufacturing and rolling perfected during WWII. Before that time all station wagons were “woodies”, with wooden side panels. I purchased this Jeep in 1972, with 52,000 miles on the odometer, in San Francisco from the original owner, a taxi cab driver who only drove it on vacation. It then became a semi – daily driver until about 19 years ago where it retired in my driveway due to insurance costs and a growing family. I have changed the oil and started the Jeep periodically, however the carburetor needs some work. It runs if gas is dribbled into the carburetor.
