Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. One vehicle I wanted to highlight from the Wonderful World of Willys Wagons was Charley Crossley’s Wild Willys. I tried to located additional images of it, but the only ones I found were on the WWWW website. I liked Charley’s creativity, so I wanted to make sure readers saw it as well. I was doing a search for Wagon axles when I found this Wagon-based website: Wonderful World of Willys Wagons. It’s got some interesting, funny, silly stuff, including a description of a sprung front wagon clip. There’s a section of trains and jeeps titled Geeps & Jeeps. This site could easily be called the goofy world of wagons.

“I have a 63 Willys Wagon. It has the flathead 6cyl, 3spd trans, and all stock running gear. I was told it had been used in the Army but I have no proof of that. It does have a military data plate on the dash so it was used by some branch of the military early in its life. It was originally highway department yellow. My guess would be that it served on an air field or maintenance department for the Army or Air Corps. It runs and drives great and has a pretty decent body compaired to most of the other wagons I’ve seen. It has stock wheels and fairly new tires. It has the factory wooden slats still in the bed. THE BAD It does not have any brakes, and it has no title but I will provide you with a bill of sale. It was owned by a hunting club in AR and they never titled it. It is possible to obtain a title. Jeep is located in Paducah, KY and I’ll take $1,800 cash for it.”

(03/06/2010) Includes an overdrive. The seller and the state of Idaho both note that ‘Salt’ is not used on Idaho roads; however, just to splice hairs, while the state of Idaho might not use Sodium Chloride (aka table salt), they do use Calcium Chloride and Magnesium Chloride, both of which fall into the family of salts (aka a chemical product produced by reacting an acid with a base).

“59 Willys Wagon. Very clean body. Drivetrain. 14 bolt chevy 8 lug rear axle 4.10 gears with detroit locker. Front axle chevy 10 bolt 8 lug with lock right. superwinch hubs. Tires. 13/36.16 interco super swampers 60 to 70 % tread on american racing Atlas wheels. custom built traction bar on rear axle. Engine: 360 dodge, 9.5 pistons, crane 272 dur cam, double valve springs, offy intake, Carter AFB 4bbl carb,high volume oil pump, double roller timing set, chevy cross flow radiator, 900cca battery, 140 amp gm alternator, electric cooling fan, electric windshield wipers converted from vacuum type. Trans. 727 torqueflight with less than 2000 miles, 2500 stall converter, full manual shift valve body. transfer case np 203. 1350 series rear drive shaft w/CV front drive shaft also like new, High back bucket front seats and rear bench seat, seats 5 comfortably am/fm CD with 4 speakers. This appears to have nice tires and rims. I also don’t see much rust. And, it evens runs. This might be a good project for someone.

“1961 Willys Wagon owned by the owner of Pioneer Jeep of Peabody Ma est. 1946 It was one of his personal family weekend toys this jeep is beautiful. From the original patina in the dash, In the early 80s he totally restored and then put this vehicle on display in his dealerships showroom taking it out on limited occasions with the family weekend trips. This is certainly rough, but I love the rust markings on this. With the right light and camera angles, I think this would make a really cool photo.

This looks clean and solid. I don’t review many of these (they don’t usually pop up in my searches), but it looks like at least a decent deal. I was thinking about getting my son one of these for his 16th birthday. It would be something with 4wd (good for the salt lake area) that he could use in winter and use to explore the desert.

Apparently, it only needs a few things to run, though nothing is mentioned about needing lights, parking lights, etc.

This looks like it runs and drives.
“1952 Willys station wagon, from Nevada. 4×4, v-8, 283 Frame and body excellent shape, perfect for restoration project. Have original title, extra parts.”
This has got a few issues, but it appears to be a solid, but offroad ready.
“1958 Willys Wagon. This is a great daily driver or mountain rig. It has: Rebuilt 3 speed transmission. New clutch. All new u-joints, seals and wheel bearings. Strong 225 Slant Six. 32×11.5 Wild Country Tires. Warn lock o matic hubs. Roof rack. Two side mount gas cans. Rear seat from a 2005 Chevy van – fits perfect. Newer gauges. New battery. New air cleaner. Rebuilt carb. All glass is good except the drivers side window and back glass (still there but cracked). I have never seen a Willys Wagon this straight.
