“For sale is a 1952 Willys M38 Korean war Army Jeep with title. It is NOT assembled, and will need to be towed from it’s current location. It is a complete package. I have all body parts including N.O.S. front fenders and grill. The original 4 Cyl engine, T-90A trans, and Spicer 18 T-Case. Both original Axles, 4 wheels and 5 BRAND NEW military tires. the Chassis currently has a Small Block Chev 350 engine and Chevy TH350 trans installed. They also go with the whole package for $2500. I have boxes and boxes of small parts, guages, lights etc… Some N.O.S. parts in there as well. This is a Great project and will come together pretty quickly with a little effort. I NEED to get this out of my shop ASAP so I am willing to bargain within reason. I can send pics upon request. This Jeep is nearly 60 years old so the body is not prefect, but for it’s age it is in very good shape. There are NO holes rusted through the floor, it is straight but shows signs of being used. This has a solid looking body, though there have been a few mods to it (and the rest of the jeep).

“Well I’m sure no expert on jeeps, but this m-38 jeep was almost given to me by a friend. This information is just as I’ve received it from him.

This jeep has just sat idle in a car port for the last 5 years or so. First I will list the minuses as I see them. It has not run for several years. It needs  seats (but I have the base frames).  It will require whatever sitting idle for 5 years would require. (fresh gas, tune up, fluids, battery etc). I do not have a top, or a key.

Now for some of its pluses.
This Jeep had a v-6 Buick professionally installed some years back. The install looks as if it came from the factory. (nice Job)

This jeep was running and driving well when it was last parked. It has the military 5:38 gears, axe mount, and one run “dark light”.

This jeep is almost 60 years old and not rusty. The floors, bed, and body are excellent.”

“1953 but title says 1943. Has a 302 that was installed and I sold the fenders and grille that was cut for that engine. So now it has the right grille and hood but not cut so the radiator is not installed since I did not want to cut a hard to find jeep part. They only made this jeep from 51 to 53. It does have a M38 top with data plates for the top. Top is something we can deal on and does not go with the jeep. I paid $400 for the top. And the top fits 2A’s and 3A’s.  The engine runs. I ran it before I removed the radiator and other grille. Sounded good. I do have the master cylinder for the brakes which is why I never drove it. Has the wrong hood since the M38 hood should have the snorkel and jumper openings on the passenger side of the hood. Body needs a lot of welding and the back wheel wells have seperated on the drivers side since the previous owner did not weld it and just used bondo and fiberglass to keep it together. Its not a lost cause but does need a lot of work. I may have a 4 cylinder which is not a M38 that we can deal on but it needs rebuilt. All in all with some spot welds and brake fixed and radiator installed it could drive. I just have too many projects and not enough time. I would consider partial trade for hunting items or a small trailer that can haul trash and my large 4 wheeler. Something with larger tires and newer with a ramp. As I said the top and 4 cylinder are something we can deal on. This is a rare jeep of the Korean era.”

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $5500

Check out the heater between the seats.  Anyone recognize it?  There is something odd about the top rim of the passenger side of this body.  At first I thought the rear of the body had been replaced with a M-38a1/cj-5 body.  Now I think it is a way to keep the water out when the soft top doors are installed.

“Needs work. Body needs welding due to cracks but is restorable. Unfortunately it has a 302 in it and saginaw steering. And the emergency brake was cut out of the dash. Missing the plate for the dash guage cluster, but guages are there. has the 24 volt hatch on the cowl. I took off the old fenders that were wrong as was the grille. So the ones on it now are correct. But due to the V-8 the radiator will not fit unless you cut the shroud and I could not bring my self to do that. Engine has been started before radiator was removed so I know it runs. But the brake master cylinder needs rebuilt. With those correct and some spot welding of the body it would be road ready. The cracks are from someone that apparently did not know how to weld so they repaired the cracks in the body with fiberglass and bondo which made them worse, but fixable. Top is a actual M38 top and will fit a 3A. Top alone is worth $400 or more and has the doors inside. Seats has legs cut to extend for some tall dude. But can be repaired or put 3A seats in since they are the same. This is basically a military version of a 3A. Has floating rear axles which are sought after. The price is less than what I have into it. have too many jeeps so If you have a L head that has been rebuilt and has all the papers I may consider a trade. If you don’t want the 302 and want to pull it I will swap with a 4 cylinder L head that needs rebuilt but is not a M38 engine. Also may consider a newer utility trailer with sides and ramp for my wide model ATV. Has to be wider than a cargo trailer since mine is to narrow to haul it. Also have other 40’s jeeps that I am selling. They are also projects. I am just too tired to put all these and the other project together. Would hate to see it but with the rear end and engine this would make a good rock crawler. Also have a Buick 225 that I bought rebuilt and have clutch kit still in the box for sale.”

“For sale is an original 1952 M38 military tub (main body) with the front fenders, all restorable. The tub needs work but isn’t that hard to bring back to life. The fenders especially are in good shape, especially for their age. This was the “last of the flatfender” Jeeps, similar to the CJ3A civilian version but military instead. the M38 had a tailgate as standard, but no tailgate is included with the tub. Ther are some extra M38 items I have I won’t be needing but I’m perfectly willing to include with the sale of the tub. I need some of my hangar space back. The tub and its bits will fit in a good-sized pickup truck; it fits fine in my 1989 Ford F250 (which is also for sale, price on request if interested). “A good winter project, flat OD green, orginal 4 cylinder flathead motor and drivetrain would make a cool hunting jeep. Needs a battery and some TLC but runs and drives pretty good, has brakes, has brand new mud/snow 6.50X16 tires, I have an excellent windshield frame with good glass and extras like ammo cans, military gas can, spare wheel etc. I also have a brand new set of military canvas seats that could be bought separate or maybe part of the deal. No title, just a bill of sale. If you need a title you can get one through broadway title or one of the other title companies, cost $120 and takes 10 days.”
