Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. (03It has a hole where the spare tire carrier used to be, so it could use some patching.
“I’m selling my ’51 Willys Jeep. It is a M-38 model. The body is in really outstanding condition on this unit and it also performs mechanically outstanding as well. It has never been restored and I guess one would refer to it as a survivor. I have owned this jeep for awhile now and have preformed any maintenance or repairs as they were needed. Things I recall replacing are radiator, master cylinder, oil filter canister, front one piece axles, seats reupholstered, new top with new hardware, new shifter boots and maybe more. Only rust it has is small spot where the spare tire was mounted. I meant to repair but never got to it. The jeep still has all the original drivetrain. 4 wheel drive works good. Has very good factory installed heater with defroster.”
