Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “Selling my 1952 Korean war military M38 jeep. Runs very good and shifts fine. Engine does smoke but has 12-13 p.s.i. oil pressure at idle warm so I suspect valve guide seals are in order. See compressions below. Many new parts including brake master cylinder, all wheel cylinders and pre bent brake line kit. ($250.00) Brakes work great! New correct fuel tank ($450.00) Original included with purchase. 12 volt, 3 wire alternator conversion. New12 volt gauge package. Ammeter, temperature, fuel gage and oil pressure all work. New head gasket with cylinders inspected with no scoring or cracks. Mating surfaces hand stoned and new high quality fel-pro gasket installed. Compressions are 110, 110,110, 106 respectively. Engine has original overhaul tag still installed as shown. A lot of stuff goes with this towards restoration. Has a 24 volt wiper motor installed that does work if hooked up but it is a little slow as it is now a 12 volt system.
Front floor boards do have some rust but it is in no means a “Flintstones Mobile”. Rear floor is good. Cowl battery box is in great shape. There is a small rust spot below driver’s door as seen. Ex Air Force “Personnel Services” jeep that was than delivered to the Civil Air Patrol. It has been modified to except a civilian top. Even has a heater that works great!! Comes with the 5-15″ civilian tires and wheels that are on it, plus 6-16″ military wheels as shown in the pictures. There is NO body filler on this and only very minor dents. Windshield glass is in like new condition with no fading. Paint is ugly but if you have some imagination you can see the potential. Frame and bumpers are in great shape but the front will need minor straightening. All lights are working as they should, including “Black out” marker lights but the right rear tail light is wired to the left so that they both work at the same time versus the military configuration that only one side worked at a time depending on the light switch position. Horn is functional but not connected as it is missing the rod that goes in the steering column. Can easily be made as the specs are on the interweb. This is one fun vehicle to drive! Be the first one on your block to have one!! Sold with bill of sale only.”

It’s project that may be worth a look. Has a mix of M-38 and 2A parts.

Listed as a 1953 CJ-3A, but looks to be an M-38.
“53 Willys CJ-3A original flat head 4 cyl, original transmission, original seats, 31×10.50 Bfg’s on steel wheels, soft top, KC lights, brush guard, heavy duty rear bumper, hitch, it does need brake work, but overall it is in good condition. Title in hand.”

“I have a 1950 Willys M38 jeep for sale . It runs and drives great. Tub has very very little rust, jeep is complete and missing no parts. Only rust is small spot on drivers floor area, all hat channels and underside are in excellent condition. All original engine and drive train/ 24 volt system still working and intact. Needs minor work and restoration to be a show vehicle or trailer queen. Restored these fetch upwards of 17,000$. I drive the vehicle weekly around murrells inlet. This is a chance to own a piece of history. Very hard to find in this condition!!”
Includes the warn winch? Might be a good price.

“Selling a 1952 Willys Jeep. I don’t know everything about it — haven’t heard it run in a while — but now I’d call it fair condition. Selling as is. My Father used and maintained through the years. With some light maintenance, perhaps carburetor or battery attention, I’m sure “the huntin’ Jeep” would work great. Or could be a good parts donor.
Once a very cool flat fender jeep, looks WWII style, it’s complete and was working when parked. Engine is a Chevy 350, Muncie transmission, big power driven winch, roll bar, alum mag wheels. A tow hitch was around at one time. Asking $3200.”

“I bought a jeep project to learn rebuilding by. The people was to be involved to help is not here any more so I’m letting it go for a super price and will have to buy one much smaller. I only work with clear titles IN MY NAME and not like others that sell by bill of sales or in other people’s names. The amount of items not installed on it yet is in boxes and are new. The list is vast and it has had a lot done to it and very recent. Everything works on it and is ready to be inspected, lights, horn, 4×4 stick, etc.

“I have for sale a military 1949 jeep Willys. It’s all original, was running and driving about a year ago.(it just sits now) me and my boss had plans to restore it, but business comes first and have no time for it now. Obviously it needs a little attention for someone wanting it 100% restored.
There isn’t much rust on this jeep, most of it is surface rust. It just needs to be sandblasted and painted.”

” have for sale a parts jeep that is a Willys m38 military jeep. It has been converted to 12 volt. It does not have a title. The seats that are in it a not fastened to the jeep. The engine is a RMC m38 correct engine, the transmission and transfer case are the original military units. It has the correct m38 radiator. I did run this jeep off of a service tank. The engine does have some blowby. It has some rust through and has been cut on. This is a parts jeep or farm or trail jeep only. Please look at the pictures carefully. If this ad is up, it is still available.”
