“I have two vintage Willys Jeepster or Jeep pick up truck grilles. 1940’s or early 1950’s. New old stock. Found in the attic of an old building that was a Willys dealership back in the 1950’s. Solid straight condition. Still in the red primer. Some surface rust and lots of dirt from years of storage. $285 for the pair. Call Ron 410-273-2489. Aberdeen, Maryland. Thanks!”

Alex forwarded this picture of a Jeepster in Tahiti taken in 1951. As far as I’m concerned, any excuse to show a picture of Tahiti is a good excuse in my book!
The engine compartment could stand some cleaning, but the outside is shiny nice.

“This 1950 Willys Jeepster Restomod is a very unique and beautiful ride. It has many modern improvements to make it more streetable and fun to drive in today’s traffic. It has over Double the Horsepower of the original engine with an Automatic Transmission, a modern Steering box, a Tilt Steering Wheel with Turn signals front and rear, and Four way Flashers. The steering is very smooth and easy; There is absolutely no need for power steering. It has been completely rewired 12 volt with a modern fuse block, headlight relays, a twelve volt headlight switch with a 12 volt instrument regulator and a 12 to 6 volt diode to run the original fuel gauge. A new set of Sunpro gauges have been installed in the dash to take care of monitoring the oil pressure, water temp, and voltage. Here is a list of what has been done to the car:
3.7 Liter Buick V-6 “oddfire engine” 150 horsepower Runs like new; never smokes, no leaks of any kind. Excellent gas mileage
New Pertronix Electronic Ignition with new NGK plugs and New Accel Super Stock Wires
New fuel pump and hard line from gas tank
New Chrome gas pedal with braided cable
New Chrome 100 amp Alternator and New 72 month battery
Crossflow radiator with Transmission cooler, flex fan, overflow tank, and a Chrome fan shroud. Engine always runs cool
ST-300 Super Turbo Automatic Transmission with shifter on steering column. Shifts smoothly with no issues or leaks of any kind
Custom installed rear axle from a 1967 Camaro. Again, no leaks, Smooth with no funny noises
New 15×7 American Racing Torque Thrust Wheels with New Cooper 235 75 Radial Tires, and Chrome Spline-style Tuner Lug Nuts with Socket
New Driveline
New Willwood Aluminum Tandem Brake Master Cylinders with a New Willwood Aluminum Brake Pedal assembly
New Brake hard lines everywhere with new Flex lines up front
New Slave Cylinders, riveted Brake Shoes and Hardware Front and Back
New inline switch for brake lights
Emergency brake cable is installed, but needs some tweaking. Although system is all new, it is still just manual drum brakes. I would upgrade to discs on the front in the future if it is driven hard
Custom installed heater from a modern Toyota 4 Runner. Works great and fan is very smooth and quiet
Hood has custom installed Gas Struts that open the hood automatically. No prop rod needed, and hood is much more stable
New internal safety catch for hood as well as new outside stainless hood safety latches
Hood also has custom installed Metal air vents borrowed from a 1967 Mustang Fastback
Signaltone air horns are very loud and work well, but will need an onboard air system to make them functional
New Header style Chrome side pipes with new aluminized hook up pipes and new flanges from manifolds. The Oddfire Engine has a great sound thru them
Convertible top is not new, but in decent shape It will need two outer catches that go on the top. the center catch works well and I had it transported that way with no problems; Just forgot to order the latches. They are about 40 dollars a piece brand new
Jeepster also has a red boot in nice condition, and a white roadster style full cover with a zip out center so driver can drive with the top down and stay warm with the heater going; Plus it just looks cool!
New cowl to hood rubber weather-strip and new windshield to vent window rubber weather-strip
Red upholstery is in very nice condition with matching side panels
New High Quality Viper Red Basecoat / Clearcoat paint with Black accents and House of Kolor Red Ice Pearl in the clear. Interior red paint is not new; Looks good, but is not perfect
Chassis was pressure washed while on a lift, then treated with a rust inhibiter / neutralizer, rinsed, then sprayed with Dominion Sure Seal Undercoating to protect the solid, original floors
Spare tire has the rare Hard Cover also done in Viper Red Basecoat / Clearcoat
New Side mount Antenna. Original AM radio front piece is installed in the dash, but there is no radio
Very nice Custom Aluminum Glove box insert behind the Chromed cover on right side of dash. Needs the ‘Jeepster’ script on the cover
New Speedometer cable going to an original 1949 gauge and dash
New Red LED High Beam indicator; New Green LED turn signal Indicators New dimmer switch from a 1967 Camaro
New Windshield Wipers, but the vacuum motor has not been hooked up
Glass has all been replaced and is in very nice condition
New ignition switch, New outside rear View Mirror
New front floor mats”
I’m not sure what is all here.

UPDATE: This appears to have been sold. Was listed at $4750.
This is one of the best prices I’ve seen on a nice looking rebuilt Jeepster with an automatic. I did some research earlier this year looking for this type of Jeepster and $8000 was the lowest price I found.
“1949 Willys Jeepster- Runs and drives great- Re-powered with a chevy 283 and powerglide transmission-engine has new edelbrock carb-water pump -starter-alternator-chrome valve and oil and tranny pans etc. New dual exhaust put on by Doc’s mufflers- new tires and wheels from Les Schwab- Has been completley rewired with new harness and wiring – body is rust free besides some slight undercarriage rust. Speedometer and fuel gauge work and temp gauge- electric pusher fan – 12v wiper motor– car has collectors plates-
Car is in by no means a show car yet but is fun to drive and gets a lot of attention. And if you don’t have the money to purchase please do not email with questions. Thank you- I will also trade for a pair of decent four wheelers.”
The price is pretty high for a none running project, but this looks like it could restore pretty well.
“1949 Willys Jeepster, only built for 3 years, new mexico vehicle so it is very solid, odometer reads 43,000, it has a ford V-6 in it, it is supposidly a running vehicle but it has not ever been tried since my dad has owned it (2 years) he bought it out of New Mexico brought it home and hasn’t had time for the project due to medical issues. so now it is for sale. if you have any questions please call Larry 847-343-1934”

“1950 Jeepster off frame restoration done back in 1988, Jeepster runs but needs some engine work $6000.00 Firm, vehical is located in Mineola ,tx farm been garage keep for the past 12 years.”
UPDATE: Was $1200. **SOLD**
This jeepster needs some loving.
“For sale here is a 1949 Willys Overland Jeepster. We believe it is a 1949 as it has a 6 cylinder engine and the flat front grill. It has 5 original hubcaps. It is very complete and seems to be missing only a top clamp and the back seat. The spark plugs are out of the engine, so figure it is locked up tight. The driver’s side is a little rough with some bondo showing and some rust around the front of the rear fender and body. There is major rust in the floor under the carpet but the rest of the car has mostly surface rust. The trim appears to be all there and in good shape. The grill is near perfect. The top bows are all there but fairly rusty. There is no title but I will furnish a bill of sale. I think the car has lots of potential for a restoration project. I can provide a number of other pictures via email.”
No images.
