Seller is listing this as a MB/CJ2. However, it looks like this has a GPW body and some military running gear.
“This is a 1948 Jeep/Willys MB/CJ2. As a WWII jeep, at the end of the war these were sold to civilians as a CJ2. As is common in these years, this one has MB parts (military) and CJ2 parts (civilian) as they used all the parts to put these in production. This has the L134 flathead-Go Devil-engine. The engine runs! You can hear it run when you come look at it. I had inquiries so I checked; I drove this jeep. It appears the tranny, etc is fine. I drove it around, however, it has no brakes (brake cylinder is dry). Floorboards are solid. No rust through.
This would be a good project. That was my intention, but other projects took priority. The body has bondo covering it. The “patches” (seen in the photos) are places where the thick bondo has flaked off. The metal underneath is in pretty good shape.
This has a working PTO winch, 4 hi, 4 low, etc. It’s a project, but it has good potential. Two extra military seats and gas tank go with it (not sure what they’re from). Engine has been converted to 12 volt system.”
Not sure how much value is here.
“42 gpw willys. is taken apart was going to build it into a buggy but don’t have the time. body is complete hood fenders ect ect. trans and t case all there needs work but would make a cool project. no papers was going to be green sticker off rd only. asking 800.00 obo. just need it gone.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3500.
(03/11/2016) Runs.
“I have a 1942 willys jeep. f script military jeep
runs and drives can be restored or used as is. ”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $8000
It runs and drives.
“I have a ford 1942 ford GPW jeep (like a willies) runs and drives, not original motor, but it is the same. body and frame numbers match, I have decided I do not want to spend the time to restore this jeep. If you are interested text me an offer. All gears work, 4×4 works, lights work.”
I don’t see any full floaters on the rear. The body may be sitting on a newer chassis.

“I have a very rare hard to find original ford script tub jeep. Ford was only able to brand their tub for a few months in 1942 before the government made them stop. There are very few of these original jeeps still around. I have a 134L engine for extra money. It comes with transmission and transfer case. Someone started putting power steering in it. No seats. It comes as you see it in the pictures. Its a full restoration project. Please call, text or email any questions. Clean clear title.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $12,000
Engine is seized.
“1942 Script Ford GPW. Delivered to the Army on April 29, 1942.
This is a great jeep and has matching frame and body. The engine was a World War II era replacement. This is a great piece of history and has been a joy to own.
The engine has seized and the transmission needs to be repaired.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $950.
(04/14/2016) Steve forwarded this one. I wouldn’t say it is a “great” candidate for restoration; more accurate to say it is badly in need of restoration.
“I have a all orginal 43 Willys gpw. 9 slot grille, with solid tailgate. Jeep was pulled from a collapsed barn in upstate pa.
The bad: Engine is either locked it the trans, because rear axel will not spin..
Also it was hit on the front driver side so the grille and fenders are bent but can be repaired.
The good: it’s a great candidate for a restoration as it’s almost complete minus the seats.
It has the body tags and data plates so acuiring at title would not be hard.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was “No Price”.
Seller is testing the waters.
“I am thinking of selling my 42 gpw, everything is original and ford including the engine which was rebuilt a few years ago in Virginia, has 4 combat rims with used Firestone tires with decent tread , looking for offers at the moment”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3653.
Has some updates.
“Here is your chance to own a piece of History. This is the real deal, a Ford GPW. Not many left, and likely saw service in WWII. This one features a Willys flathead 4 cylinder, t90 3 speed trans, twin stick transfer case, and dana axles. The hood still has some original military markings, and there are still some F script parts. This rig runs like a singer sewing machine and has literally logged thousands of miles in the sierras on a multitude of cool back country trips. The price is more than fair for a turn key piece of history. No offers without seeing the rig, yes it can be shipped worldwide at your expense.”
UPDATE: **Status Unknown** Was $6500.
Runs, but needs work.
“Hello, I have a 1944 military jeep with a title ready for someone to finish. It comes with all the parts pictured, as well as a new carb and the two front seat frames. Tires are excellent. It has the Willy’s 4 cylinder engine and t90 transmission. It runs and drives but needs brakes. Tub has rust mainly in front floor but the whole thing is a little rough. It is not all stock original but a cool little jeep. Email your # if you want to view it or have any questions. I am firm on the $6,500. Clean title!”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $7500.
Has a fiberglass body and 2A windshield.
“Very good condition with original four cylinder engine that is strong and fast. Rebuilt carburetor, new gas tank, exhaust system, completely rebuilt brake system and new tires and tubes. This is a WWII Jeep with a fiberglass tub and hood. The underside is solid with an excellent frame. This is a great running and driving WW2 Jeep and it is currently located on a ranch in southern California. Leave a phone number if interested.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $6500.
Runs, but needs some work.
“1942 Ford Military Jeep. This jeep was purchased by my family right after World War II. We have owned it for over 70 years. It has a flat head Ford 4 cylinder. The Jeep has always resided in Central California. It runs but will need the brakes to be looked at. The brakes worked fine but the Jeep sat for a few years and now they are not working. Should be something simple. It is all original and has minor surface rust. My plan was to restore it but life has changed and I want it to go to someone who will restore it and get some good use out of it such as military parades or whatever interests the jeep brings. Currently I have the Jeep at a friend’s shop in Visalia. If you want to view it call or text me and I will make arrangements for viewing.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $700.
Not sure how much value is here.
“WWII US Army Ford GPW Jeep. Data plate and frame match 6-2-43 serial number 113685. Frame is solid with no rust out, horns are rough but salvageable, the pintle brace has also been cut off, motor mounts and tranny/transfer mounts are intact. No running gear other than the front and rear axles which are also Ford. No grill, Tub will need a new floor dash only has one small extra hole drilled in it, glove box is intact. Hood and fenders are solid, they have a few dents, but no rust out.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $2000.
Doesn’t run.

“Engine runs well and is quick, rebuilt carb, new fuel tank and fuel pump, new exhaust system and new military tires. The tub is a light weight fiberglass model with an electric winch and recent brake work. The frame has no rust and is straight. This is an exceptional WWII Jeep.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $2500.
It didn’t last long.
“Selling my 1944 Ford GPW military jeep. It is in good condition – runs and drives, few cosmetic rust spots but metal is pretty good for most part. Several hundred dollars recently put into the jeep for tune-up and other odds and ends after a significant amount of time & money getting it running nearly ~15 years ago (new brakes, shocks, rubber, carb work, etc). Needs brake lines and fuel cell. Can be used as is for work or play, upgraded for a road worthy driver, or restored. $2500 OBO.”

“1942 Ford GPW. Was going to rebuild it, but like everyone I have to many projects. Bought it at a auction, no title. Has a f head engine from a cj5. Many f marked parts. Good for a offroad, a spring over lift was done to it. For sale or trade for a 65-72 ford truck. 240 or 300 inline six is best. Or a good Willys cj5 parts jeep with a good steel tub to put on my 63 cj5.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $2700.
Cool Air Police jeep. What an interesting hardtop, too.
“1942 Ford GPW(Military Jeep) Ready for restoration. Very little rust. Its been in a barn most of its life. All parts original except headlights. Engine turns and should fire up. Ford script is visible on most parts. Has a large PTO driven winch. 16″ rims. Willing to trade for small tractor with loader, atv or utv. We have a title.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $5000.
Has some mods.
“VIN stamped & plated by CHP. Registration is current. Clean title. Jeep was driven to its current location and has been non op’d and not driven for the past years. It has been garage kept and is clean.
A new fuel tank was purchased and installed in 2013 due along with a new battery. The jeep runs and is drivable but 2 tires no longer hold air. The jeep needs a set of new tires. It’s been primered and is ready for paint.
I no longer have the canvas top pieces.
Restoration was started years ago and left un finished. The engine has been disassembled, sand blasted and reassembled. It is very clean under the hood. THIS JEEP IS WAITING AND READY TO BE RESTORED TO IT’S FORMER GLORY.”
