1946 Photo of Driver and His Damaged Jeep on eBay
It’s a bad day when you get knocked from your jeep then have to chase it a couple blocks.
“This is an original press photo. Pvt Wayne Gingery, Army Jeep driver sits besides his steed after catching up with it after it collided with another jeep in Chicago, Ill.Photo measures 9 x 7.25inches. Photo is dated 06-11-1946.”
1977 Photo of Louis Larson on eBay
This story is interesting. Larson was involved in starting a jeep club in the mid 1960s. Apparently, manufacturers threatened to cut off warranties for any vehicles that entered a club. I’d never heard that.

Rube Goldberg Illustrated Jeep
I found this illustration of a Rube Goldberg (yes, of the Rube Goldberg machines) drawn jeep from the September 1946 issue of Mechanix Magazine. I’m not quite sure what the UNO on the grille means.

Steve found this cool photo. It shows Milwaukee Brewer outfielder Johnny Price putting on a pre-game exhibition of catching balls using a jeep. The local dealer, Laurel C. Worman, arranged the event.

2014 PNW4WDA Summer Convention
On Saturday I drove over to Seattle via Hwy 20 to Ethyl, Washington, where the Pacific Northwest Four Wheel Drive Association was holding the 2014 Summer Convention. While there, I got a chance to talk with both Herm and Marty Tilford, but spent most of the time taking photos. Turns out I could have used my wife’s help with properly setting the shutter speed. I did get a few good photos though.
On Sunday I got a chance to meet with Cody. A retired Marine Commander (hope I got that rank right), he’s a ball of energy who shared some great stories and insights. Though he doesn’t own a jeep yet, he’s been considering the purchase of one and has been reading eWillys to learn about them. Most of the year he lives in Taiwan, but is currently in the U.S. helping out family. He’s led an interesting life and we had a great chat.
Unfortunately, instead of spending Monday working on the jeep, I spent it not feeling well. So, I may return to Pasco on Tuesday for my wife to dote on me (hopefully).
Here are the pics from Summer Convention. The first two show’s Marty’s jeep just after the tire blew and his front driveline coupler broke (see it on the floor).
Photo of Slat Grille MB with Soldiers on eBay
I wonder who “Pat” was and whether she was impressed with the jeep’s name? Looks like the photo was taken in December of 1943.

The Shed’s Willys Wagon BBQ
This one-of-a-kind smoker and BBQ was built from a 1954 Willys Wagon. It was created as a portable bbq kitchen for a restaurant in Mississippi called the The Shed (actually, two restaurants now) founded by the Orrison family. They chose to use a Willys because, “it’s like the oft repeated mantra of cooking great barbecue: You have to drive it ‘low and slow.'”
Medium.com has a long story about The Shed and their experience at a BBQ competition.
Here are a few photos from medium.com and from USA Today:

He is also the host for the Colorado Fall Colors Tour which is an annual event where Willys jeepers from around the country meet for a week of trail riding in the Rocky Mountains. Rare Willys Industrial Engine Parts List **SOLD**

Here’s a rare parts list booklet from Willys Motors. The POWER GIANT branding is new to me.

June 1946 Country Gentleman Ad
UPDATE: **SOLD** was on eBay.
If you can get your hands on a June 1946 issue Country Gentleman Magazine, you will find this ad. Or, you can just snag this one on eBay. Seller believes this is in fair to good condition, but given the stains it seems poor to me.
Super Jeep Thermos on eBay
If you collect Super Jeep paraphernalia, this might be of interest.
“Great condition with minor surface scratches. It has the Super Jeep wheelie design with “Toughest 4-letter word on wheels” logo.”
Photobombing a Truck Ad in Sweden
Jerk from Sweden shared this strange ad that was posted to Sweden’s version of Craiglist, Blocket. Pay particular attention to the background photobomb in the fourth photo. Jerk added that the truck is an ex firefighter truck with a swedish cabin. Chevy V8 and 700 tranny. The price in dollar is some $8-9000.
