Marc spotted this jeep. For some reason the larger version had an unusual overlay on it so it’s not very clear.

“U.S. MARINE CORPS PEEP (MB GPW JEEP) BLITZES MOSQUITO BRIGADE GUADALCANAL 1943.”
I can’t vouch for the history of this, but it is interesting.
“I have had this for several years. I deduced it was likely a pin made to sell by people in Holland to the liberating armies or others. There was little money so this was a home grown venture. Recently I found similar JEEPS in Ceramic said to be made in France showing the Liberation date of France. I have also seen other keepsakes that show Jeeps etched in wood and other materials. A collector friend finally ID’ed this pin and it is what I suspected. He has a couple in his personal collection. Apparently there were some sold few years back on e-bay but he thought they were knock offs maybe made from tin. None of those had HOLLAND on the back and were pretty poorly made. The dimensions are1and 3/4 inch wide and 1 and 1/4 inch tall. This pin was in a Paratroopers grouping. Any soldier could have purchased one so no connection to the Airborne just that that is where I found this one.
Apparently JEEP Collectors as well as Military Collectors prize these little pins especially when they appear to be vintage 1945 produced examples. Some of the prices that these have sold for are very impressive. I set the buy it now at the best price I was told has been realized for one of these pins. Please bid what you think its worth but you likely will not see too many around. I will look at all”
Andy spotted this neat keychain that sold on eBay for $23. It features a Rural Willys Wagon from Brazil.

Just one post this morning. Ann was sitting in bed relaxing yesterday afternoon when she positioned her knee just right … or just wrong would be more accurate. It caused her knee cap to shift sideways. It happens once a year or so. She had to take a muscle relaxer to deal with the pain, so I spent last night taking care of her.
On the plus side, Marty Tilford and other racers from the Pacific Northwest Four Wheel Drive Association had a good time at the Tacoma Dome this past weekend competing in a series of barrel races. They lined up all their jeeps and took a photo for us. Yep, I am sure it was just for us!
Most of these are WWII pics, though there is a Tour De France (or similar bike race) photo in the mix.
John Escobar bought a few FCs last month. He recently acquired a few more through a trade. He writes, “I got the Bug! Just traded a Snowmobile I had for three fc’s and flatfender jeep ! he collection goes on! The one fc 170 is real nice and originally from Washington State. Was used n the area as a water truck. (government owned ) Parts will be for sale this spring. Can’t wait to get started on them. Spring can’t come fast enough!”
3 FCs and a truck for this snowmobile. Looks like a good trade to me!
All photos were made from National Archive photos and are 8×10″. The seller has many more jeep related photos for sale on ebay.

Here are a few of the photos:
The winding mechanism doesn’t work, but still a neat piece.
“Very old wind-up Jeep Willis – old Czechoslovak tin toy. It must be WWII manufacture due to the fact that comunism has come to CZK after war…or it was brought here from abroad but it must be decades ago. The wind-up mechanism not working – cracked spring.
Material : tin
Colour : turquoise
Dimensions: 6,5″l x 3,5″w x 2,5″h
Weight : 200g
Shipping via airmail with insurance ( lost and damage )”
A February 1956 article in Willys News told the story of a special promotion in Wenatchee, Washington. Drivers who brought their jeeps could get into the local baseball game for free.
Great press photo.
“1942- Soldiers in a Bantam BRC-40 Jeep towing a 37mm anti-aircraft gun go airborne as they top a hill at high speed.”
Marc pointed out that these soldiers are wearing British style helmets. It also looks like one of the jeeps doesn’t have a glove box, indicating it is possibly a slat grille. I did a couple searches, but couldn’t locate the Grand Hotel Du Pacifique.
“WWII U.S. ARMY PHOTO OF MB GPW JEEPS WITH 37MM GUN AND 1 1/2 TON CHEVY 4X4 TRUCK. This is a (U.S. ARMY SIGNAL CORPS) photo copy made from the original negative at the National Archives 25 years ago. This is a nice sharp 8″ x 10″ in excellent condition.”
Paul’s made some additional progress over the last month on his stainless jeep.
Paul writes, The upholstery is done, the driver’s seat has been installed and the seat belt/shoulder harness combos have been adjusted for length and bolted in place. The passenger seat will still need to be removed to allow access to the battery mount and cable connections in the electrical box but progress is being made.
Corbeau three inch wide belts with a cam lock release and in a color that goes well with the upholstery and stainless steel.
Paul has also been working on the battery installation. He continues, The open space on the right side of the electrical junction box should be filled with a new Odyssey AGM side post battery
Here I’m comparing the size of the Odyssey battery to the mockup battery I taped together out of poster board. I used the mockup battery to locate the attach points for the battery hold down bracket in the electrical junction box.
The battery fits and there’s even room for a longer battery. This small battery weighs 45 pounds so I don’t believe there’s any need to get a larger and heavier battery anytime in the future.
This hold down bracket is slightly bigger than the battery but the battery is firmly held when the attach hardware is tightened. The bracket consists of eight separate pieces of stainless held together by 40 rivets.
Now it’s time to start smoke testing the wiring and that might take a while.
I think these people are nuts! One slip and you’d get run over by a fancy car, which doesn’t help the pain. No jeeps on the video, but you might remember the similar sport of Jeep-Joring.
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay
A poster of a penguin driving a Bantam BRC-60 sponsored by Kool Cigarettes. It is 20″ wide by 30″ tall.
“Up for sale is this Super Rare estate fresh WWII era Kool Cigarettes advertising sign / poster featuring Kool’s Willie the Penguin in WWII attire driving a military jeep with a Kool Cigarette Machine Gun on the hood and shells exploding in the background. The poster reads ‘KOOLS The Pack To Take Wherever You Go!’ The bottom of the poster reads ‘Save B&W Coupons for US War Stamps’. The poster measures 30 inches tall by 20 inches wide. The poster is in good condition for its age and has great color although there is a good deal of wear and creases around the edges and holes where the poster had been hung (Please See Photos). These issues don’t take away from this great WWII advertising image and this would make a great addition to any WWII, Advertising, or Tobacco collection.”
Marc spotted this neat photo.
“1941 original silver gelatin photograph of Life Photographer George Rodger. Flying Tigers A.V.G. in Burma. Image shows Flying Tiger AVG Burma base, jeeps and medivac building, shark nose art fighter planes in background. There is no byline on the back but they are part of the George Rodger photographs.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** on eBay for $30.95. This one was sold in 2015. The one below was sold in 2013 (price unknown). Both have the same blemish.

The seller of these photos knows jeeps pretty well to spot this as a slat grille.
