UPDATE **SOLD** Was $4800.
Robert shared this unusual CJ-5. I don’t see a data plate on the dash (no good shots of the dash), but there are several plates on the firewall. Needs to be sold ASAP. Contact through Pirate4x4:
“The Jeep is a 1965 CJ5 U.S. Navy former FIRE Jeep. (The Navy did not want the Army M38 Jeep) The motor is the stock 134 cu.in. 72 bhp “F head”. I checked compression and each cylinder is 125 psi or better . 3 speed T90 transmission and Warn hubs. It has a nice removable top, but no side curtains. The only difference between the Navy version and a standard CJ5 is that it has a split windshield and a port in the side of the hood for a snorkel. Only 1,000 of these were built for the Navy, and most were left behind in Vietnam. This is the only one I have ever seen. The “stateside” Jeeps were used for fire patrol duty in Navy yards. It has a brass plaque on the dash panel certifying that it a U.S. Navy CJ5. I added a map light light that was a cockpit light from a 1940 Canadian Spitfire Fighter Aircraft Nearly new tires and battery, I am asking $6,500 for this RARE vintage Jeep. Includes a tow bar.
