Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “1953-1964 CJ3B. Selling it for PARTS. Extra transmission shown in photo 3. Have extra F-134 and transmission, add $500. Selling as is, needs lots of Tub work, motor ran when I got it. Has been stored inside for last 13 years. I have no time for this project. Serious Jeep folks only.”

“Willys CJ3B project vehicle. I believe it’s a late 1950s (don’t know exact year, no title). Mercedes om616 diesel engine and manual transmission. Got this as part of a package deal, but finishing it is a bit more than I’m able to take on. Engine runs great. Throttle, hydraulic clutch, new Bosch gauges connected. Transmission connected to rear differential. Just needs a frame support under the transmission (have original, which could be adapted) and the shift box mounted. Also comes with a Suzuki transfer case. Brand new steering wheel from Kaiser-Willys. Nice early CJ wheels with new radial tires. Frame solid. Has beefy U-joint front axle. Tub is rough but works. Cowl, dash, window frame, hood, and grill are nice. Includes the original engine, transmission, and transfer case (assembled). Was told the engine ran a little rough.”
Apparently, this needs some work? Looks like a good price.

No pics and no description. The sale is part of a sale of other vehicles posted to Barnfinds. Maybe something or maybe nothing. Model unclear. Thanks to Bill for sharing it.

“All original 6 volt but was in the process of changing to 12 volt. New steel body from Toledo. First year of the Hurricane 4 cylinder with overhead valves. Frame, engine and transmission were powder coated. Rhino lined on bottom and inside the tub. New wheels and tires. New top in a box has never been installed. Lots of extra parts including original honeycomb radiator.”

I believe this is Al’s CJ-3B. If so, the Bobcat hood is one he made from the Bobcat/Parkette molds we owned together. He was a straight shooter in all my dealings with him.

It runs. Listed as a 1955, it looks to be a 1956 or later.

“This is a CJ3B “high hood” that I had plans to restore. The video is a cold start and she’s cold blooded but runs well when warmed up. It does look like it needs a master cylinder so it currently has no brakes. I don’t have a title to the truck but I’ll write you a bill of sale.”
Given the Koenig top, maybe there’s some value here?
