Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “I believe this is a 1953 CJ3A. Been sitting for 10 years or so, was running when parked. Tub rotted out. Frame still very solid. Tires and wheels rotted, don’t think they will hold air. Parts or restore.”

Owner’s family no longer uses the Willy’s for family summer camping trips. Very well restored and maintained. Receipts for EVERYTHING ever purchased or done to the vehicle. Full cage roll bar to many extras to list over 20 years of work invested and over 30000.00 in parts It also took first place at 2010 Fun Run car showan 2011 for its class in Kingman Az. “Frame off restoration on a 49 cj3a. less than 300 miles on this jeep since completion. New springs and shackles, professional bikini top and seats and more. If I couldn’t rebuild it I replaced it. L134 engine was professionally rebuilt. Every thing was sandblasted and coated with rust prevention before painting. Will also come with an extra running L134 engine and an other parts engine plus a plethora of extra body and drive train parts. This is a personal restoration so the body work and paint job are not professional an that’s why I am not asking 10 to 15 grand for it. Extra parts include a rebuilt dana 41 rear end, cj2a wind shield, hood, gas tank starter and generators, seat springs.
Will sell willys for $5500 alone.”

“1951 willys cj3a. Has a Buick v6 for power. T90 trans with Dana 18 transfer case. Sprung over on 33″ tires. New springs in rear along with shackles. Power steering with recent box and pump replacement. Dana 44 rear with posi and a Dana 27 front. Both 538 gears. Tilt steering column out of a Cadillac. Engine purs, I have ran it quite a bit this summer and temp never ran over 180. Full roll cage with 2 led lights on top. Two as back up lights and two on the bumper. This jeep has been in and out of the rubicon several times with no issues.”

(10/23/2013) This is a project.
“The jeep is NOT running, it’s a CJ-3A everything mechanical is off of jeep except the engine and trans. Some alterations to vehicle have been done. The engine is a Chevy 327 ( unsure of year) when we bought the jeep we were told ALL the parts were here.. And we are not sure yet because we haven’t put them all on. But I know we have doubles of stuff. Do not have a key to ignition. Has a willy manual also. Also has a roll cage and the vinyl doors. CLEAN CALIFORNIA title ( reg. expire 3/24/13) We are moving out if state and have not had the time to get it running yet. GREAT project!!”

“Jeep runs great. Body is Fiberglass. Original engine, frame, transfer case ect. Has new fuel tank, lines, sending unit, pump. New carb, plugs, air filter, cap, rotor, thermostat. New wheels and tires.
Leaks some oil, I have seal to fix just haven’t. I have roll bar and soft top with doors also.”

The body looks good. It could use a parking brake and a new steering wheel. Has a 2A windshield, but that appears in good condition, too.

“51 Willys with 3.8 Liter Buick odd fire V-6, saginaw manual steering gear, 2″ lift Rancho springs, Confer shackles, back seat, Best Top bucket seats, Tow Bar, dual exhaust. This is a project that needs finished. It has sat for 10 years. motor started but carb has stuck float and leaks, pressure plate is stuck to flywheel. Wiring needs work. Not a driver you can tow it home with the tow bar. After 10 years I have come to the conclusion I don’t have time to work on this project. No trades, cash only call two zero six two two seven 9037”

(08/30/2013) Looks like the dash has a couple of former speaker holes.
“I have a Willy’s jeep titled as a 1961. This is a very solid body with minimal rust. Previous owner bed lined the inside of the tub. The floors are solid as well as the other body parts. I have the hood both front fenders tub and windshield frame with un cracked window, it also has a newer gas tank. I do not have the running gear or frame anymore just the complete body. I also have other little parts that can go with it. I would have liked to build this jeep but I have way to many car and truck projects that I would like to get done. This jeep has a CLEAN COLORADO TITLE. The last two pictures are what the jeep looked like complete. When I got the jeep it had a v8 and all of the running gear was trashed so my plan was to put that body on a newer jeep frame etc..”

(07/30/2013) I think it’s back to the drawing board on this project. The rollcage looks like a CJ-3B or CJ-5 based on the front loop’s upper bends.
