“Up for sale is a 1949 willys. The motor is a good running 225 buick v6 but will need a water pump as the existing one leaks. The drivetrain including the trans, transfer, and diffs are original. The body is in fair shape for the age, showing some rust in the usual areas but easily fixable. Fenders are solid, having some filler but no rust what so ever just rough bodywork. Has new starter installed and many other brand new parts as well as used that come with it. It’s a good base for a project but I decided to go with a Landcruiser instead. Call or text me for more info and pics…thanks! 575-740-4023”
This brochure that Marc found shows the CJ-3A employed in a variety of jobs. The use of the triangle in the illustration is interesting.
“This listing is for a vintage advertisement. It is an ad for Willys Overland Motors of Toledo Ohio and their universal Jeeps. The ad folds out like a small poster. There is a dealer address stamp on it. I am not positive but I believe this advertisement is from the 1930’s. It is filled with information and pictures from that time frame. It is roughly 17″ x 11″ when it is unfolded.”
UPDATE: Price dropped to $9500
(01/27/2012) This looks good.

“I am selling my project Jeep, we are moving Wednesday and it needs to go. Currently it is torn apart as I was re-finishing the frame. It needs some work, but it is a rare bird. It does not have a powertrain, or seats. Even if you just buy it and take sell it off seperatley as parts you will make money. I would, but I can’t move it and don’t have time to sell it. I am asking 400obo, or I would also take a trade for something that goes boom.”
UPDATE: Status Unknown. Was listed at $2200.

“51 Willys, all original, runs great,asking $2500,”
Listed as a ’57, I don’t see anything to suggest it is a DJ-3A.
“1957 willys jeep 4×4. Awesome piece of history. These things were built well. Made to military standards. Motor has been rebuilt and runs great. Trans shifts good. 4×4 hi and low works well. This would be a cool jeep for a swap or restore project or drive it as is.
Interested in a good tig welder. 4×4 rigs. 4×4 four wheelers or anything of real value that interests me. Just ask.”
This has dual tanks. Needs a fuel pump, but it looks like a good price.

Bill Dedo contacted me yesterday. He’s hoping to track down a 1949 CJ-3A of his that his mother sold years ago. He has learned it might be a restoration project in Alta, California. If you happened to have any leads, add a comment to this post.
Here are some photos:
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1200.
The engine turns over, but isn’t running at the moment.
“I have a 1949 CJ3A With a new clear Title Its been sitting in a shed since the late 80’s. I purchased this with the thought of a restoration however I’m starting to think I’ll never be that interested in it. Its a Numbers Matching CJ Original Willy’s-Overland L-134″Go Devil”4-cylinder iron block T-90 transmission and Dana 18 transfer case, a Dana 25 front axle and Dana 41 rear axle. The frame and drive train are solid Body on the other hand needs work. Everything is there someone fixed all body sheet metal once from the Fire wall back looks like it was made out of 14 gage its heavy with no holes but will need completely replaced if your doing a restoration. Windshield frame is rusted up with some holes came with a hard top and doors also in bad shape but the right person could fix. Has CJ5 Seats and someone along the line cut a hole in the hood for a vent or something. I’ll be honest for a 1949 that was well used its not that bad. Its painted olive drab but looks as if it may have been red from the factory. drive train turns and everything shifts engine turns and from prior owner says it was running like a top when he parked it. I’m not sure if he is even still alive. I’m asking 1200 for everything this would break me even. If your looking for a nice project this is it. Only serious inquiries. I don’t have allot of time to screw around with showing this to everyone and their brother.”
There’s been a few changes, but it still has the floor starter.
“51′ CJ3B Willys Jeep
Original 134 Inch Flat Head Four Cylinder Motor (Known as the “hurricane motor”)
Push button starter on the floorboard, Oil Bath Air Cleaner, New battery
T90 transmission rebuilt by Bob’s Almaden Transmission less than 500 miles ago
235/75 R15 tires in good shape, new spare and rim never used
Champion 8000 LB winch with hand controls
Easily re-movable stand up gun rack in between seats.
Removable tow bar for flat towing.
Bought from ranch in Nevada six years ago. Runs well. Would be a great Jeep for total restoration because so much is original inside. Body has some rust and bondo cracks but it is a great old Jeep that turns heads. Hate to get rid of it but having another baby. Clear CA Title and Reg

“1951 Willy’s CJ3A, 134 motor, T90 transmission, spicer transfer case
I’m selling or possibly trading my ’51 Willy’s Jeep. This has been a great little jeep for the past 6 years. It runs great and is alot of fun.”
It’s a project.
“I have a 1949 Jeep willy. It was a rebuild project that was given to me a few years ago and I have gotten pretty far but I don’t have the time to finish, and I need to get it out of the garage.
The Chase I sand blasted and Painted with POR15. It is in excellent condition.
The Engine is the original 4 cylinder, I did a complete rebuild and paint job. The two of the cylinder walls were a little rough, and she is a little smoky when running, but runs well.
The transmission I didn’t do much, new clutch, pilot bearing, and paint job.
The body was the tough part. I replaced the floor board, and tool box (under passenger seat). I went around and cut out all the rust and replaced it with fresh steal. I started the bondo and sanding process but I am out of time.
I know $3000 is a lot to ask for a rebuild project, Im hoping to breaking even. Make me an offer.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1500
