This ad made me laugh, because the seller claims this “body has not rust”. Now, the hat channels may in fact be in great condition and maybe it’s just my eyes, but isn’t there rust on this body?
“Great project or parts Jeep.No engine, trans or hood. One of the nicest body tubs I have ever seen. This body has no rust out, even the hat channels are solid. It’s a rolling chassis on 16″ wheels.Put your drivetrain in it or use the body on your Willys. No sense spending alot of time and money fixing up a rusty Jeep when you can get a rust free one.$750.858-705-1878”
Here’s a unique paint job. That front sure is a bit higher than the back.
“Four bar coil spring suspension; sway bar; full roll cage with cloth top; high back bucket seats; dana 44 locker rear; new constant velocity rear drive shaft; power steering with tilt wheel; power brakes; extra disc brake kit; extra new under seat gas tank; late model transfer case adapted to recently rebuilt turbo 350 automatic; Mercury Marine 305 small block chevy; street rod headers with full exhaust out the back; Edelbrock Performer intake manifold with 600 cfm vacuum secondary carb (rebuilt); new fuel pump; transmission cooler with fan; Optima gel battery; 15x35x15LT Super Swampers; Waren locking hubs. 602-763-4539”
This CJ-2A has been highly modified. It sounds like a pretty good jeeping jeep.
“1946 Willys Jeep CJ2A. Frame off rebuild, everything new- body sandblasted, repainted. tube front fenders widened 3′ over stock. New poly bucket seats. 2×4 rec. Rec. tube chassis, new YJ springs outboarded, Dana 44 front and rear Wagoneer axles with new 4.56 gears/Powerlocks front/rear. Saginaw steering. New 4.3 Chevy V6, rebuilt stock with Edelbrock intake and carb. SM420 4 speed with Novak adapter to a Dana 20/18 hybrid. New Q78-15 (35”) Super Swampers on Chevy Rally wheels. New plates and tags. “
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3000
Lots of mods have been done to this jeep. Though it sits a little high, the outboarded springs in the back should help improve the road stability.
“This is a 1946 Willys body on a Chevy frame with Chevy 350 four speed and drive train as you can see in the pictures. We did not clean or candy coated anything so that you can see what you are buying. This vehicle was bought about 3 years ago for hunting, off road and to be driven when ever and where ever. It doesn’t smoke, knock, shake or make any kind of noise and will take you any where you want to go. We don’t know what the milage is the odometer never worked.”
It looks like some remanents of bondo on the back driver’s quarter of the body. Otherwise, the body doesnt’ look too bad for a parts jeep.
“Selling as a parts Jeep with no title pics show the status willing to trade for ? let me know what you have”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $7400.
“I purchased the Jeep in August of 1997. It already had the small block Ford in it but was just sitting in outside storage here for years abandoned. Loved it at first sight. I tracked down the owner and made him an offer after I changed the oil, put a new battery in and fired it up. It just purred. I put in my garage until about 2000. That’s when my father in law gave me a nice place to work on it…. “
The body looks wee bit rough, but it sounds as if the drive train will get you where you want to go.
“Its a 48′ Willys CJ2A that has the following: Full roll cage, RCI 5 pt. harness with seats, and quick release steering wheel. The engine is a chevy V-6 4.3 with power steering and 3 speed tranny. The suspension is Rusty’s leafs and shocks, around 6″ of lift. Front axle is a Dana 30 with super lift hubs and rear axle is AMC 20 with 1 piece axle shaft. Both have 4.88 gears and lockers. It has 4 wheel disc breaks, steel braided lines, and custom drive shafts…”
Here’s a good looking, fairly stock CJ-2A.
“1948 WILLYS CJ2A FOR SALE. CLEAR TITLE, RUNS GOOD, CAN BE LICENSED AND STREET DRIVEN. ASKING 3000.00 OBO”
“This is the second year of production for the first model of the civilian Jeep produced after Wold War 2. It has the 4 cylinder engine, 3 speed transmission, hi/lo range and 4 wheel drive. Optional equiptment includes a back seat, radio, heater, defroster fan, lock out hubs and overdrive. The overdrive offers the flexibility of 12 forward speeds. This Jeep has the original type top, no rust anywhere and is mechanically excellent.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3500.
Empire Tractors were built from parts that are also used by Willys, such as the transfercase (spicer 18), transmission (t-90), differential (spicer 25) and more. You can learn more about the specs for these tractors here. Note that the seller claims these were built out of surplus WWII jeeps, however the t-90 was a CJ-2A tranny, so it seems more likely to me that they shared parts with the CJ-2A rather than built from the MB.
“HERE WE HAVE A RARE 1947 EMPIRE TRACTOR. MODEL 88-90 MADE IN 11-47 SERAIL NUMBER 6352 IT WAS RESTORED ABOUT 10 YEARS AGO AND HAS BEEN KEPT INSIDE ALL IT’S LIFE. THIS HAS WILLYS JEEP ENGINE AND TRANS,AND ALOT OF OTHER JEEP PARTS IN IT,THAT ARE ORGINAL TO THE TRACTOR. THESE TRACTORS WERE BUILT AFTER WWII OUT OF SURPLUS ARMY JEEPS. THE PAINT SHOWS SOME WEAR . THE TIRES ON BACK ARE ORGINAL AND FRONTS HAVE BEEN REPALCED. COMES WITH ORGINAL LIGHTS AND GENERATOR IN A BOX. IT HAS HAD ONLY 3 OWNERS AND RUNS AND DRIVES LIKE IT SHOULD, READY TO USE OR SHOW. THIS COMES WITH A BELLY SICKLE MOWER,THAT HAS NOT BEEN USED IN 20 YEARS. 3500 FIRM. MY NUMBER IS 660-267-3282 THANKS FOR LOOKING”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1500.
This looks good for a $1500 running jeep. I’d drop in a battery and starter before buying though.
“1948 Willys Jeep CJ2A,the Jeep will need a new starter,a battery to make it road worthy. The engine is in great shape, the tranny and the 4×4 are in great shape, the brakes system is in good shape, the jeep has new military tires size 16″,the steering system is not original and the tub will need some welding, but it is drivable as it is.”
UPDATE: These sold for $1200 on 01/06/2009.
Two jeeps for one price. The jeep pictured looks pretty stock and the body appears fairly straight.
“1948 and 1947 willys jeeps as a pair. there is enough parts to build one whole jeep. the 48 is the good one with a reworked body in very good shape and good running gear, one engine is cracked and the other turns over good. UPDATE: This sold for $2,025 on 01/06/2009
I think the body on this looks in very good shape. It looks like with some polish, the paint might be in pretty good shape underneath all that dust.
“1947 CJ2 Jeep 4 cylinder. 4 wheel drive, high and low transmission. Runs and drives great. Mechanics in working order. Converted to a 12 vikt. Body in good to great condition, no major rust. Under carriage/ frame in good shape. Inside is very solid, seats are nice, most of the gauges work. This Jeep is ready to drive and have fun in. But doesn’t have a battery in it currently….”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $7500.
There’s been a bunch of good mods to this jeep. Based on this gear calculator, to reach 65 mph, the engine would be more in the 3300 rpm range.
“Am selling do to a back injury , this is our anytime any place jeep , here is a little more about her , this is the real deal , daily driver and crawler. UPDATE: The price has dropped to $900 …
There might still be some value in this jeep.
“1947 Willys (Project Vehicle)with clear title. This would be a great project vehicle for someone that has the time, I don’t. I have had this in storage sense 1977 (last time it ran). It has a V6 engine that only had about 5K miles on it before going into storage. The rest of the power train is original 3speed, transfer case, etc. How ever at the moment I’m not able to turn the crank over by hand? It has been stored in a few locations, one garage having leaks. There for it also has its rust problems. I know it also needs a new brakeing system, mufflers, and windsheld, as well. E-mail or call 253 921-2153”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3500.
This jeep has a few older upgrades. It probably needs some work.
“New or rebuilt everything has a flat heat 6 motor new 2 barrel carburetor, tuneup, breaks, tires, has aftermarket hubs and power steering has a PTO gear type”
For $1600, this looks like it might be a pretty good deal.
“1948 Willys Jeep – 327 eng., new tires, new top. Registered as 1976, won’t smog (Off Road).”
UPDATE: **SOLD**
I include this jeep as it’s a rare example, in my opinion, of a DJ-3A with a tailgate. I’ve heard these existed, but hadn’t had picture proof until I saw this one. The thing that clued me in was the large speedometer. Once I saw that, I went back and read the description.
“For Sale is my 1955-1964 DJ3A/CJ2A/CJ3A combo Jeep that I use on my Farm for general weekly transportation over the last several years. Jeep is stored inside my barn at all times on my farm. If you are looking for a show vehicle with matching numbers this is not the ride for you. However, if you are looking for a good solid original Willys flat fender Jeep driver for general use, read on. All body parts except the tool box are original Willys manufacture. Body tub, fenders, hood, tailgate, and front grill are original DJ3A that have had a paint job using Mil Standard Sherwin Williams OD CARC paint. Body tub is solid as the DJ3A had a full hard top which protected it from the normal weather related rust experienced by most soft top Willys vehicles…..”
Here’s a running flatfender that appears in good shape. The engine doesn’t look like much. Good looking roll cage, though I prefer bars on the outer edges between the loops rather than just in the center. If you have ever been jeeping in a tight spot and had the roll cage bar bump along a tree, you’ll know what I mean. It’s too easy to catch a tree inbetween the two loops.
“47 willys jeep runs great 90% stock 3spd 4cdy i do have the wensheld for it all new tires all reblut 5 years ago $2200 obo 408-210-4373”
UPDATE: This nice CJ-2A is still for sale. There’s lots of updates to this jeep, including, I think, reversed front shackles.

“This is a very nice CJ-2A California jeep that is redone as a WWII Medic’s vehicle. This was my Dad’s Jeep which he purchased in California (where he lived) in the 60’s. I brought it to Pennsylvania last year and put a new exhaust, brake system and water pump on it along with a tune up and head gasket. New canvass summer top and front seat cushions. Has always been garaged here in PA. Runs, drives and stops like new. Has new radial tires and Overdrive which really makes driving it a joy.”
