“1947 Willys Jeep CJ 2A 4×4, Flathead 4 cylinder Original motor AND an additional motor!
Converted to 12 volt system- Great Restoration Jeep, This jeep has been garaged for 7 years in sunny/dry Arizona. It ran previously but needs gas and a battery. Drive train tight and solid. Very minimal rust spots on seat. My loss is your gain. I bought it for a project car and know I won’t get around to it. This jeep is really clean compared to most projects. Others have been parked in a field exposed to the elements. Great restoration shape. Many more pictures on demand if you are serious about purchase. You will need to salvage title as none exists. You must pick up and trailer it away.”

Jim’s 1946 CJ-2A Durango, Co eBay
Jim’s selling his hot rod. Jeeps seem to be like cats, you never real own them, only take care of them for a while.
“This is our beast, our grunt wagon, I took this heavily modified Jeep in trade on a full military M38 jeep I was selling a couple years ago thinking that I had no interest in a V8 powered Willys. Then I started driving it, and playing with it, and liking it, really liking it, it is a beast, a powerhouse, it is the grunt wagon. I’ll try to list everything that’s been modified, rebuilt, changed etc, the list is long. A little warning here, please don’t buy this rig for your teenage son, it has way too much power for someone lacking experience. I would have killed myself in this thing at that age as nearly 300 HP in a 2400lb short wheel base, lifted flat fender jeep does not have a very large margin of error. ”
1948 CJ-2A Warwick, NY **SOLD**
“1948 JEEP CJ-2A, PLOW, SOFT TOP, AND MANY EXTRA PARTS. GARAGE STORED WHEN NOT DRIVING OR PLOWING.”
1946 CJ-2A Albany, NY **SOLD**
Here’s a great price on a running CJ-2A with a working snow plow. The top is rather funky.
“For Sale a used 1946 Willys-Overland Motors CJ2A Jeep with hydraulic snowplow. Runs great, solid engine and drivetrain. Needs minor exhaust work. 54,810 original miles on engine and drivetrain.”
1948 CJ-2A Indiana eBay
Here’s a militarized CJ-2A where the seller has gone all out with extras. Why wait for the auction when you can purchase it now for only $19.9K. Overall, the jeep appears in pretty good condition.
“.. Vehicle runs beautifully and drives straight. Everything is operational. This is noted ALL ORIGINAL 1948 Willys metal body and frame. Sandblasted and repaired with METAL as needed. Body is not perfect, I wanted to keep as much original parts as I could. I am a perfectionist with attention to detail, and though the jeep is not perfect, it is close. It is a great turn-key jeep that is ready for a collector or a special person to enjoy. This is a dependable vehicle that starts when you want it to, so you can enjoy it instead of having to work on it. Parts are still available for this vehicle if ever needed, part supply information will be provided ….”

1947 CJ-2A Salem, OR **SOLD**
This is a pretty fun looking jeep (maybe it’s the scoop?). I’m wondering if it’s got floating hubs in the rear? Something is sticking out.

1946 VEC Klamath Falls, Or SOLD
UPDATE 2: The seller and Robert agreed to a price, so Robert will be taking this nice VEC home 🙂
UPDATE: Robert provided a great link to a CJ-2A page post that discusses how bodies with driver side indents were mixed with non driver side indent bodies during assembly.
A reader named Randy pointed this jeep out to me. This VEC has the serial #24076. This CJ-2A has the column shift, as it should (up to #38221). However, I would expect it to also have the driver side indents (up to #29500)?
“This wonderful Very Early Civilian CJ2A is in great shape. See the pictures below. It is very solid for an unrestored 1946. My father obtained this jeep in, I believe, 1956. I don’t know any of its history before this time. When we got it it was blue. (I’m sure it was originally forest green though, in places you can see green and the wheels were yellow. I understand that was an original color scheme.)…. A good mechanical refurbishing was done, in the late 1980s. The motor and transfer case were rebuilt. It was converted to 12v. The charging system was upgraded to 12v but the original starter was kept (it really turns over but you don’t want to crank it for a long period). A voltage reduction was used to retain the original instruments. It was again re-painted blue…..”
1946 CJ-2A Clinton, Ma eBay (stainless parts)
Here’s a fiberglass CJ-2A that also has a stainless steel grille and windshield. This has a variety of updates.
“You are bidding on (1) 1946 Willys Jeep CJ2A. I am the second owner of this vehicle. The original owner worked on this jeep for 2 1/2 years. He has built many Willys Jeeps in the past. the entire chassis was disassembled Media blasted, boxed and repaired. All welds are 100% pentrated TIG. The front of the chassis was removed and built up with a donor chassis from a jeep CJ5 donor. and 2″x2″ bar Stock. The chassis was then painted with 2 coats of POR-15 and chassis coat. A Rancho 2-1/2″ lift kit was installed along with an additional 1/2″ lift and greasable zirks for a total of 3″ lift. This will easily clear 33″x12.5 tires. The rear axle is a 1959 CJ5 Dana 44 that was rebuilt and in the front is the stock dana 27 that was rebuilt. the gear ratio’s are 5:38. the T-90 tranny and model 18 transfer case along with bearings, seals, and clutch were also rebuilt. All new brakes front and rear as well as custom bent brake lines, rubbers, and a dual master cylinder kit. It has the L-138 Flat head motor in it that was rebuilt and bored .040 over. it runs beautifullly. It has also an aftermarket Solex carb and custom air intake kit. it has been converted to a 12 volt system with a brand new alternator. the body is all fiberglass built by AJ’s Body….”

“Small block 350; Muncie 4-Speed with Warner overdrive. Boxed frame. PRP seats. Small patch of rust on rear of right front fender. 9″ Ford drum brakes. Drives well. Has approximately 359 miles on odometer.”
1947 CJ-2A Detroit, Mi $3500
UPDATE: The price has dropped to $3500
The paint job on this is interesting. The bumper is pretty wild; I guess the jeep was used for pushing?
“The body is in good shape it runs and drives tires are good dont leak has a toe bar on the front with a custom front bumper.”
1948? CJ-2A Winstead, Mn $2,995
A reader named Jim forwarded this interesting CJ-2A. The body appears in very good shape. It sports a column shift and a PTO. It appears to have a CJ-3B windshield. With the 3 dash panels and the column shifting, I’d guess this (or part of it) is actually a mid 1946 rather than a 1948.
“GREAT WILLYS RUNS AND DRIVES GREAT 3SPD PTO WINCH TOW BAR 2 EXTRA SPARES NICE SHAPE TURNS ON A DIME WILL GO JUST ABOUT ANYWHERE TRADES WELCOME BRYAN”
1949 CJ-2A Fairfield, Tx **SOLD**
The back of this jeep appears to be solid. I can’t tell for sure. It also appears this jeep has a full floating rear end. Obviously, the body has been modified a bit.
“49 Willys Jeep 950. obo as is.”
1947 CJ-2A West Slope, Co No Price
I can’t tell much about the body from the pics.

1949 CJ-2A Tempe, Az eBay
UPDATE: Now on eBay. Many more pics and very detailed description — if only all sellers were so precise!
This jeep looks fantastic, but I am surprised someone would do all this work and not replace the 41 rear end with a Dana 44. Note that this is the original tub, but the tailgate has been carefully removed.
“1949 Willys CJ-2A Jeep which has been mildly customized and modified for off-road and everyday usage around town. This Jeep has been professionally done with attention to detail and function, incorporating many modern upgrades yet still keeping the period CJ-2A look. Although this Jeep has the look and capabilities for serious off-roading it has never been driven on anything but hard surfaced highways. It has been re-powered with a Chevrolet 283 small block backed by Muncie 4-speed transmission and goes like a bat-out-of-hell, but has plenty of low-end torque for any situation.”
1946 CJ-2A Lakeview, OR **SOLD**
This looks like a nice CJ-2A. It does have some rough spots on the rear left corner.
“1946 Willys CJ2A SN:53163 Clear Oregon title. Jeep has had frame off restoration with some exceptions. Floors have been pached wear needed or replaced. Hat channels have been repaired wear needed or replaced. There are three thin spots that have been cleaned on the tub can be bondoed but I prefer not to use it. I have tried to leave as original as possible. Jeep is approx. 90% original, engine is out of a 49 Willys PU. Oil psi about 55 when operating 40 @ an idle. Approx. 200mi. on a new clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing…..”
1948 CJ-2A Pullman, Wa $3000
UPDATE: The price rose from $3000 to $3500. Still no pics. It’s been for sale since last April.
Here’s one I missed that’s in Pullman, Wa. No pics were included in the Ad.
“I am selling my 1948 willies jeep. Been updated with a buick V-6 and tilt steering wheel. nice interior, seats are in great shape. The top is in good shape some stiches coming loose on the drivers door around the window. Great oversized tires on centerline rims. Diamond plating, spare tire and 2 jerry can fuel cans. The jeep runs great lots of power and would make an awesome restoration project. I was going to restore it but dont have the time. The body is straight and clean, very little surface rust and the floor boards are pretty solid. Also has a full roll bar. Might be a blast to drive this summer, heck who knows join a jeep club and tour the woods. It’s just a fun thing to drive. It has a new master cylinder but needs the slave cylinders replaced. I have checked and they are $8.95/ea. most jeep parts are pretty cheap. Call for pics. 509-432-3952”
1947 CJ-2A Grand Island, Ny eBay
UPDATE: This jeep is back on ebay. Now also on Craigslist for $6500.
Here’s a 1947 CJ-2A with lots of pics on eBay. I keep thinking I’ve seen this one, but I couldn’t find it in a search of past posts. Maybe it was bought and is being resold?
“Seats are Bestop Trailmax. Low back height fit the small style of the Jeep. Great Hot Rod look. I had tried tall back seats with five point harnesses but they were too restricting and did not look proportional. Lap belts are just the five point harnesses. I just buckle them around the waist and just let the shoulder belts lay there….”

David’s owned his (the gray ’51 CJ-3A) for six years. His friends have owned their 1947 CJ-2A and 1949 CJ-3A for about 25 years. Thanks for sharing David.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $6000. Better pics now.
Nice looking CJ-2A. It looks like there isn’t a tailgate, but I can’t tell for sure from the pics.
“1947 Willys CJ2-A. Semi-Pro restoration about 10 years ago, clear & clean title. Orginal L-Head motor, 3 speed on the floor. 4×4 (works great too!) Nice 31×15 inch General tires w/ rancho shocks. This CJ-2A looks well built. The chev 350 and radiator are neatly placed into the engine compartment without modifying the fenders. It’s got a good looking roll cage as well.

1948 CJ-2A Italy, Tx $3500
Something appears to have been done to the bumper, but otherwise this looks like it could make a great, pretty easy restoration project.
“This is a very collectable 1948 CJ2A Jeep Willys- I am firm on the price of this 60 year old vehicle. It runs good and has the original engine. I have done some restoration which includes:
New brakes and brake lines, new gas tank, new carberator and tune up, new muffler and tail pipe. This has all of the original frame an body matching numbers. This would be a great restoration vehicle and fun to drive in parades or around the farm or ranch. Serious inquiries only- 214-797-0911”
