UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.
Here’s a very early VEC! VIN#11435
“Here we have a highly sought after 1945 Willys CJ2A for parts or restore. Serial number is 11435. Frame, firewall, and dash tags are all there and in good shape. ACM numbers on toe board and tail gate are both 1583. Jeep comes with a clean WI title (VIN #11435). It’s generally pretty ruff and will take quite a bit to restore but has a lot of hard to find 1945 CJ2A parts on it.”
UPDATE: Images added and price dropped to $4500.

Here’s an old school Jeep.
“A great hobbyist project. Garaged for 20 years. Complete roll cage, telescopic steering wheel, new shocks, new springs, 350 Chevy engine, muncie 4 speed, all 4 disc brakes, custom aluminum gas tank, 90% rust removed, frame reinforced, swamp tires (12 inch wide).”
UPDATE: Re-listed at $3500
(02/13/10) This needs some work. The seller honestly admits there is a crack in the transfercase.
“215 olds V8, 5.38 gears, lockright locker, rebuilt engine, transmission, transfer case, clutch, starter, and brakes. It still need work, tires, top, shock mount repaired, and some wireing. There is a crack in the transfer case, but it has been there for 10 years, isn’t getting any bigger, and only leaks a little. This was my daily driver for 10+ years. I have wheeled it a lot, and it can go places I won’t. If you are over 5′ 10″, you probably won’t fit. 831 278-0047”
The seller doesn’t know how serious they are.
“I am testing the water” I have a 1946 Willys CJ2A in running condition. The Body has been patched up and is somewhat presentable. looks good as it drives by. It has the original flat top 4cl engine. The electrical has been updated to 12v. The brake wheel cyls. and master were replaced 3 years ago but now not functioning correctly. When you brake it pulls hard to one side. The steering has had some parts updated. Original seats have been recovered. It has old chrome rims with tires that are shot. I have the original rims but they will need restoration. The water pump was replaced 2 years ago as well as the exhaust. The frame is in fair shape. Put a glass tub and some new springs and drive it. It also has a tow bar. As stated I am testing the water. I would like to trade it for a CJ5 or CJ7. Maybe some other type of convertable. please send Pics and discription of what you have…”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $2900
(03/04/2010) This looks like a pretty good price. It runs and drives.
“This old jeep runs and drives! It’s licensed with new plates and has new none directional tires with less than 50 miles on them. I had the carb rebuilt a month ago. Still needs a little fine tune. I have a tow bar that fits it great so if you have a two inch ball on your truck your ready to pull it home. The old jeep also has a new battery. I’m open to trade for old rat rods, model a truck or coupe,or old cushmans. I’m not really looking for much else, cash is always best. My very best price is 2,900 firm. Please keep in mind it runs and drives and has license now! and the tires with mounting for none directional are expensive”l
UPDATE: Price dropped to $5700
(02/06/2010) Both the trailer and jeep look solid.

“1946 Willys CJ2A Jeep VIN/Serial 72467. What we have up for grabs here is a “Hot Rod” (or perhaps it is best described as a “Resto-Mod Version” thereof)! You see, the JEEP RUNS GREAT WITH NO PROBLEMS thanks to the “fire breathing” Chevy 4.3 Liter V-6 (out of a Monte Carlo 1985). And the hot little motor has just been fully and freshly tuned (with less than 50 miles on it). So yeah she runs like a top and I have “Clear Title” in hand so she really is ready to go! ….. (a list of new stuff on craigslist ad”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $6500.

UPDATE: Still Available
(02/12/2010) This has some unusual features. It’s an ugly duckling of sorts. I’m kind of digging that crazy hood — not sure what’s wrong with me — it’s a strange one. If you can easily get the engine going, this might be an interesting project. And what’s on the front of the grille?
“1948 Jeep CJ2A – $2,200 OBO. This has a few changes.
“1946 CJ-2A. Has a GPW grill and head lights. 225 oddfire v-6, t-90 4 speed trans. All rewired with newer style 10 circuit fuse panel. Head lights work, high and low beams, tail lights, blinkers, dash light for the gauges, license plate light, all work. All gauges and speedometer work. new coil, new points, new plugs, new radiator, custom air cleaner designed to fit on the carb. without having to cut out the hood which is common when installing a v-6 in these jeeps. new seat covers. warn hubs, tow bar. This jeep runs great. The only thing I know that is wrong is that the brakes probably need to be bled out. You have to pump the brakes a few times then they work great. Runs great. I got this to use as a hunting jeep. Well, times are tough and some things just have to go. I do not have the title but it is in my name. If you are interested, all I have to do is get the paperwork for a lost title and a transfer of title and put it in your name. I will have DMV paperwork in hand. Ive done it before and its really not difficult at all. Asking $3,500 O.B.O. Can reach me at 530 312 1433. NO TRADES!”
UPDATE: this is back on eBay
This CJ-2A appears to be a stock VEC CJ-2A with a serial number of 38965. What makes this CJ interesting is that it is being sold by the second owner of the Jeep, the Jeep has matching numbers, and it’s a column shift. What’s more interesting is that according to the CJ-2A site, column shifts were discontinued at number 38221. So, it’s possible that this is one of the last column shift CJ-2As made. Am I missing something?
“Low mileage – 64264 actual miles. I am the second owner of this Jeep. I have owned the Jeep since 1976. This CJ-2A has all matching serial numbers, including the tag on the front frame horn.
This flatfender Jeep is an early 1946 model. It has the original timing chain equipped Go-Devil flathead 4 cylinder engine and column shift 3 speed manual transmission. The engine was rebuilt in the 1980s by my father and me. The engine was bored 0.030 over, hardened valve seats were installed on the exhaust valves and the head was milled 0.020. It has approximately 15,000 miles since the rebuild. Has original “military standard” oil filter and oil bath air filter. Also is equipped with a NAPA top cylinder oiler. Electrical system is 6 volt negative ground. The Jeep has not been run in over a year and will need to be trailered or trucked. It will need a new battery.
The driveline is all original with the addition of a Warn “All Range” overdrive unit. The orignal column shift 3 speed transmission shifts solidly and does not pop out of second gear on deceleration as many of these older jeeps are prone to do. Transfer case is original 2 speed and shifts great. The rear axle is a Dana 41 and the front axle is a closed knuckle Dana 25. Gear ratio is 5.38…. ”
(06/26/09) Well, it is a VEC, but it’s not looking all that great. No serial number listed.
“late 1945 CJ2A Willys jeep mostly parts -engines, front ends, and rear ends, frame, body bucket (not in good shape) new bearings , brake lines bell crank and various parts, extra tranfer cases and transmissions, pto winch (Ramsey Model 200 4K capacity) all tag numbers match body and frame – clear az title. call Art 520-266-2349 ”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.
The body weaves and bobs a little bit and there’s plenty of minor welds on the inside of the fenders and hood, but otherwise this looks solid. It’s missing the driver’s side spare tire holder.
“For sale is my unique “lefty” 1948 Willy’s CJ2A. It has been a great CJ, but it is time for someone else to enjoy it and time for me to move onto another project. Brief history of what I know for sure. My Dad found it in a field in Wyoming and wanted to convert it to a hunting vehicle, but I talked him into restoring it. When he took possession, it was in pretty rough shape, so he did a frame off “garage” restoration in 1999-2000. I would estimate it to be about an 80% restoration. There are a few blemishes here and there, but overall the vehicle is in great shape. I requested not to have a complete restoration because I wanted to use it for what it was meant to be used for, fun! He re-welded the entire frame, rebuilt the original flat head engine, rebuilt the drivetrain, converted it over to a 12V electrical system, re-wired the entire vehicle, repainted it, reupholstered the two front seats, repositioned the spare tire carrier (added a rear tire/jerry can carrier- no jerry cans, sorry!), added a new Bestop Tiger Top with doors and just about everything else you would do in a restoration. I took possession of it in 2000 and used it as a daily driver for about a year. Since then I have only used it every now and again just for fun and to keep everything lubricated. Have used it maybe a half dozen times in light off-roading situations in the past 5 years, other than that, just normal street driving. Since I have owned it, it has always been garaged. The new non-directionals tires are mounted on the original wheels. The wheels have been powder coated and I put Firestone non-directionals on all four wheels and the spare about a year ago….”
UPDATE: Still Available
(02/11/2010) The paints rough, but I can’t tell how much rust is growing on this.
