Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. (05/17/2014) “1946 Willys cj-2a All complete, easy restoration. Solid frame, decent body for it’s age. Has a PTO on it. Have not started it, motor free and turns. Little bit of work and its on the road, or easy restoration. $4000 or best cash offer, listed on ebay also.”

“Completely new body, front and rear axles completely rebuilt, completely rebuilt transmission and transfer case; Completely rebuilt Buick V6 225 odd-fire. Brand new tires. 2.5″ lift kit. “231 buick engine, the current engine is weak, but runs OK.. I have another that I would be willing to include which a 31 buick that I never got around to installing.
turbo 350 tranny, true track front end with 4:11 gear ratio, locked out rear end with 4:11 gear ratio, bilstein long travel shocks, ARB on board compressor and holding tank, high flow power steering, electric fans, curstom front bumper and rock guard, custom rear bumper, swing away tire rack, stero/cb, tilt steering column, bucket seats with 4 point harness, original rear seat, custom roll bar with 6 point harness, 35 x12.5×15 super swampers ( a little dry rotted but still OK ) bikini top, soft top and doors, plus more extras I am sure I am forgetting other things. NO joy rides without cash in my hand”

(08/07/2014) This has a number of updates.
“1946 Willys CJ-2A. Notes: WILLY’s!!!! This is a 1946 Willy’s CJ2A Rock Crawler. This thing is cool. It has a well built Chevy 350 Motor with a 4 Speed Manual Transmission. This thing is sitting on 1 ton axles with a welded rear and locked front and 38″ Super Swampers. This thing has some serious get up and go. Like most older Jeeps, it is a work in progress and needs some finishing touches, but it runs and drives and is ready for some fun the way it sits. If you want to get some serious attention around town or in the hills, this one will get it for you.”

This old photo from the South Dakota Department of Agriculture shows a CJ-2A with a 100 gallon tank mounted in the rear at or near Custer State Park. It appears there may be another tank across the cowl. Unfortunately, the photo isn’t very large.

(05/30/2014) This includes a PTO of some variety.
“46 Willys
Flat head 4
3 speed, hi / low, 2 or 4 wheel drive
has PTO option on it but has never been used.
new points, coil, rotor, condenser…….Great runner, fun driver!
has a temporary remote gas tank, original needs cleaning.
Brakes work but need work
This has been used at our hunting cabin since 1987 but has sat the last few years.
Was turned over by hand to ensure nothing was seized before running again.
Would be a great restoration project or use as is.
DOES have a TITLE and could be street registered

“1948 Jeep CJ2A. Very good condition, tub has no rust. Engine has been gone through, runs strong. Trans, transfer case and both rear ends good and serviced. All new brakes, lines, etc. Converted to 12 volt. New gear reduction starter. New water pump. All wiring redone. Even the origional horn button works. Full canvas. Rear seat but needs upholstery. As you can see probably needs a paint job. Two sets of tires, one origional army tread the other are town & country tread.”
