Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “1948 Willys CJ-2A. It’s a basket case right now. It has a ford 302 V8 it runs and moves under its own power. The rest of the drivetrain is stock. I pulled the tub off to replace the floorboards and lost interest after I got the tub back on. It needs to have. The brakes and wiring hooked back up. It comes with a bunch of new parts. Could be a fun project for someone who has the time.”
UPDATE: Price dropped to $16,000.

“I have a 1948 CJ2A with rear PTO. It’s all restored to original. The restoration was done roughly 15 years ago but looks like it was done less than that. This was all done recently as it sat for so long: New fuel pump, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, condenser, oil lines, fuel pump to carb line, carb was completely rebuilt, new master cylinder, bell and crank for the steering. I’m sure I’m missing a few things. Have new wheel cylinders but haven’t installed them. Comes with tire chains, a bucket of carbs (3-4) a crate of other parts and a hard cab that needs to be finished. Runs and drives. $18,500. Open to trades”
This looks like a good price for a jeep with these updates.

“1947 cj2a, 225 dauntless V6 3 speed, with overdrive. Front disc brake conversion, Saginaw steering conversion, fairly new soft top with doors, for roll cage connected to the frame. The body is all fiberglass the windshield frame is metal. The mileage is 26490 and that is after the rebuild Asking 6,000 or best offer located in Winona Minnesota. Clean title in my name.”

“Body from a CJ2a. Comes with tin half cab. Willing to sell separately. Most of the body is in pretty good condition except the front floor. It will need replaced. The cab is a little bent up but totally fixable. The windshield frame is broken from the cowl mount, but is reparable. Noting super pretty here but with some work it will definitely be good enough for a driver.”
This has the correct plates to be a 1945, but I’m not seeing any other early parts in these pics.
