This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.

Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “1946 Jeep willys cj2a flatfender Engine is a Chevy SBC V8, HEI distributor, ram horn manifolds, Quadrajet carb Muncie M20 4 speed transmission. It runs and drives however the brakes need some work, and some TLC. Fiberglass hood on it now but also come with the stock hood and windshield that has the willys imprinted on it. I stripped all the bondo off when I bought it and epoxy primer it.”

“Willies. Was going to fix it up and have a family toy for in mountains but family just got a little bigger and will not work. It runs and drives, would be a good project. I don’t have a lot of info but it has 400 small block, 4 barrel intake, 4 barrel carb., 9in rear end. 4 speed manual Serious inquires only. Clean title No trades OBO”

“Drivetrain: Engine: 283, guessing 60s vintage. Trans: TH350, have 2 one is bad, one supposedly good. The trans is sitting in the Jeep and a crossmember is built. Xfer: D18, have two xfer and one Overdrive, OD is matched to at least one of them. Axle: Mid 70s Waggy Dana 44s. Front has high steer arms on it. Rear is offset Radiator: New universal Aluminum Body: Body is fair for a 48. CJ-2a winsheild Tube has been cut for bigger tires. Have the front fender, have seen better days. 6 point tube cage, no idea of material. Attic Aluminum top, most window broken or replaced with lexan. Frame: Frame was cut off at center of the front axle bump and replaced with 4” box tube. Ended up moving the engine forward (3” from previous mounting point) for more firewall clearance. Reverse shackle was added. Was going to use FJ40 axles so spring mounts are to narrow for the waggy D44. This is a PROJECT Located: Kennewick WA”

Listed as a 1944, it appears to be a 1947 based on the serial number. This CJ-2A is being sold by a dealer.

“This CJ-2a has a clean NYS transferable registration in my name
For sale is a 1948 CJ-2a. The frame is absolutely solid, you can take a hammer to any section
The body is somewhat rough on the outside but nothing huge. Small patches here and there
The inside cargo area is solid. Someone added 1/8″ plate to the wheel wells and floor
The front might need floor pans but they could be saved
The rear end is a CENTER dana 44 from a 1973 CJ-5, rare and desirable. Will also come with a torn down dana 30 from same Jeep
There is current no engine or transmission. The engine mounts were cut off and it was going to get a chevy 350 installed but plans have changed
Comes with 5 white wagon wheels 5×5.5 pattern”

This jeep is listed at $18,500, but I prefer to think that is either a 1) mistake or 2) random price. It’s listed as a 1947 CJ-2A, but lacking top bow brackets and sporting a 3A windshield, could be a CJ-3A.
