This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.

Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. The jeep appears solid, though the drain holes have been filled, so the body should be checked for filler. This has an f-head and custom hood. There are additional mods.

“Bought off Bring a Trailer for $11k over a year ago and was told it was in perfect shape, guess what and no surprise, that good old boy from Virginia lied through his teeth!!!
Anyways, I’ve had several Jeeps and this one has one of the nicest rust-free bodies, as well as complete and original gauges, E-Brake Handle, Seats, Motor and Trans. “DRIVE TRAIN COMPLETE MINUS ENGINE”
Thanks to Mike for sharing this VEC CJ-2A that’s being auctioned on Hemmings.com. While not a perfect restoration, there’s a lot to like here and it’s a long ways towards that goal. The jeep includes a rear PTO gearbox and drum pulley. While functional, the exhaust pipe appears under the frame in the first pic, so that would be a good thing to correct. The front frame rail area could use some restoration, too.

The seller states that this 1945 Willys Jeep CJ-2A, from the first year of civilian Jeep production, is also the 325th such vehicle built in 1945, based on its tub and serial numbers, which the seller says were commonly mismatched in those years. Believed to have been originally sold in California, the Jeep is reported to have undergone a four-year, body-off restoration that included a new master cylinder and wiring harness. Described as 90 percent complete, the Jeep is reported to have a rear-mounted power takeoff with a flat belt drive.”
Listed as a 1954, all signs point to it being a 1946 CJ-2A.
