Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. (11/02/2014) Here’s a rare former rescue wagon.
“1958 Willy’s delivery Wagon. I’ve owned this vehicle since 1991. It had 800 miles on it when I bought it from the Warroad Mn. Fire dept. where it was used as a rescue vehicle. Not many folks to rescue I guess. It now has 21,000 miles on it. It has the original Warn winch. I had the overdrive installed shortly after I purchased it. I have much of the original literature for it. I recently had a complete new wiring harness installed. It runs great. The only thing that doesn’t work at the moment is the windshield wipers. The interior is very utilitarian”

“An incrediblly done complete restoration! This 1952 Willys Jeep Wagon 4X4 has had every nut and bolt turned and needs absolutely nothing! Powered by a period correct 6-226 Super Hurricane mated to a 3spd manual transmission with Spicer transfer case, Dana differentials, and auxillary cooling fan, she is completely finished. Extremely high quality paint job and wood trim looks fantastic. Cosmetically, she is a real head turner. Top to bottom and underneath are all meticulously done. The wood flooring in the back is completely finished, and the only thing that isnt period correct is the aftermarket am/fm cd player iin the dash. All of the gauges are clear and appear new…….I really dont know what else you could do to make her more complete. Car has been converted to 12 volt.It is a 4 cylinder, 3 speed, 2 wheel drive with over drive.

“Selling a 1955 Willy’s wagon 4×4. Runs and drives very good. 4×4 works as it should. Body is in really good shape for age. No rust on body. Has some patches. Floor pans have been patched. All seats are there. Rear seat needs foam but has new covers. Motor is a F head 4cyl that is out of a 1953 wagon. Still on 6volt system. All lights work. Heater motor blows air but the temp adjustment needs some tinkering. Has original vacuum wiper motor that does not work. Oil pressure gauge works and battery gauge. Working on temp and fuel gauges. Speedo works and is pretty accurate. Manual choke. Tires are like brand new and brakes have been all gone through. New rear shocks and steering stabilizer. Has new gas tank and new wiring. Has a couple small drips but nothing major. Love it but needs to go for next project. All glass is good also. Call or text with any questions. Can text more pictures if needed. I also have a couple totes of extras including dash gauges speedo. Other misc parts. Steering stem and generator. Also have side extensions for rear bumper and an extra passenger front seat. Will sell extra parts separate also. ”

“Willys jeep. 2 wheel drive. Six cylinder engine. Three speed transmission. Black exterior/red interior. New tires. Some one spent a lot of time and money on this jeep. The motor runs okay but smokes. Possibly needs valve seals. Jeep sat for a long time after it was redone.”

All original except motor which is Ford 215 cui six. All there, runs well. Licensed and titled in Idaho. New wheels, tires, new upholstery, door panels, interior pan sanded to metal and re-painted with original wood slats. 12 volt conversion.

“I was going to do a frame swap on this Willys, but was advised by Willys “Officianados” not to do it because of it’s year; 1949 was the last year for this style…rounded rear wheel wheels. I had already begun dismantling it, so stopped, and that’s the way its been sitting for several years (inside). I won’t be getting around to it, so it’s for sell.
The F134 motor is locked up, but there’s a running one on CL for $300. 4WD, floor shift. It’s all there, but needs some work.”

“For sale is a 1957 Willys 4X4 Station Wagon in excellent condition. We have done a complete overhaul on this vehicle, just short of a frame off restoration. The 226 Super Hurricane engine was rebuilt, the transmission was rebuilt, new paint job (interior and exterior), the seats were reupholstered and a new headliner installed, the bumpers were re-chromed, the oak strips were refinished, a new clutch was installed, floor mats are new, and too many other upgrades to mention”
