Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. (07/24/2012) “1949 Willys Jeep that had a frame off restoration 6 years ago. Driven around 3000 miles since restoration. 28984 miles on odometer. The tub and tailgate and hood are replacement. Body is rust free and nearly perfect. Garaged everyday since restoration. All original save for the body, wheels and two inch lift springs and shocks. I have the original springs to put it back to original stance and painted steel wheels that match the jeep w/ excellent tires although they are not the military all terrain tires that the jeep was originally issued. It is converted to 12 volt and there is a list of new parts too numerous to mention. Starts every time and runs like a dream. The wheels and tires alone are worth $1200.00 and have less than 1500 miles on them

“953 Willys CJ3A Jeep, new paint and upholstery. 12 volt conversion on a great running L134 cubic inch 4 cylinder engine, 3 speed standard transmission shift good and the 4 wheel drive works well also. The floor pan and the inside panels have been rhino lined and the jeep has 5 new Goodyear tires. Has a tow bar also. A lot of attention to detail was put into this jeep. For $9100 OBO you could own a piece of history that will go just about anywhere.”

“SELLING A 1950 NAVY JEEP FOR THE WIDOW OF MY FRIEND. THIS JEEP WAS FOUND IN A BARN YEARS AGO AND IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION; IT HAS BEEN IN HIS SHOP FOR 5 OR 10 YEARS AND IT RUNS OUT VERY WELL. ONLY SURFACE RUST. COULD BE MADE INTO A SHOW PIECE.
I have ridden in the jeep; it purrs like a kitten; starts right up although it has been 2 years since it has been driven.
The paint job is not that great and has been touched up over the years and has surface rust on several places; but no pits or deep rust.

“Heres a great 1946 Jeep Willys CJ2A. I found this in a barn north of Sacramento, Where it sat for many years. It has the old black and yellow plates. I dont know much else about it.I have used it to drive around Lake Tahoe, and have maybe put 100 miles on it since i’ve owned it. It is mostly stock i believe,with the exception of the seats, that someone added later. It starts right up and drives really really well.The brakes are soft, so it probably needs a brake job.It also drips some oil i think from the rear seal. The only rust i can find is a small spot on passenger floor, about the size of a quarter. Also i’m not sure if the windshield is original,it came with two of them (different styles), so the buyer will get both you see in the pics. It is located in Lake Tahoe, CA.”
