UPDATE:  **SOLD**

“Why buy a gpw, mb or an m38 when your next restoration could be one of the rarest military jeep vehicles that exist. the m677 series jeep was ordered by the navy and marine corp in 1964. there were originally only about 300 ordered. there is now only about 30 or so that exist. of that 30 some are only rusty hulks found in fields by the people who have enough love for the jeep fc that they got out of their car took pictures and recorded the serial number. this auction represents a once in a life time chance to add this truly rare military to jeep your collection. i have seen on some military vehicle blogs that some people have been looking for 10 to 20 years for one of these. ok the truck.. first the body is rust free.”

UPDATE: Was on eBay. **SOLD**

“This is a military issue model M677 (Crew Cab FC-170) and is an 11-passenger troop carrier that has the original issue aluminum canopy on the back body. It runs and drives and the brakes work. It has the orignial Cerlist 3-cylinder, 2 stroke diesel/multi-fuel engine. We believe the mileage is original. The sheet metal is in incredibly good shape, minor surface rust on frame, but no heavy rust anywhere. We have the original owner’s and parts manuals. It seems to be 98% complete. It’s just missing the head liner on the roof. It’s a very solid unit and very rare. Only 3,000 military FCs were built and only 60-100 of those FCs had the multi-fuel Cerlist engine. According to Jeep expert, Jim Allen, “it has a five-star investment potential”. There are a few spots where you can see the original Olive Drab color underneath the white paint. Feel free to message me if you have any questions or comments. Happy Bidding!”

To the left is Roger Martin next to his 2A and on the right is his friend Don Ray, who just purchased that Mitsubishi 3B (he owns two others).

Roger filed this report with pics from his 2019 SouthWest Ohio FC Get-Together last weekend. Roger found himself very busy all weekend, so didn’t get as many photos of from Saturday as he’d hoped.

One of the special events this year was a 60 mile ride in Craig Brockhaus’ tour jeep along the Little Miami River, then down through the gorge at Fort Ancient. Roger notes that it was supposed to be just a short drive to get some ice cream … that’s what happens when Craigs is at the wheel!

Report From the 2017 Southwest Ohio FC Gathering

• CATEGORIES: Event, Features This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

Roger Martin reported on hi Southwest Ohio FC Gathering last weekend.

He wrote, “Over 30 FC’ers and friends spent part of their weekend at the Third Annual FC Gathering, July 14-16. The weather was hot but dry.  There were 6 visiting FC trucks, one of which was a military M677 and one had a trencher.  There was an early jeep pick-up (and even a 1936 MG Police Car…the only one in the US and one of two in existence.  The owner was in Ohio for a show and stopped by to see the FC’s.  He has an FC170 but did not have it with him.)  There were 11 other FC’s on site for a total of 17 FC trucks in all.  A few parts were traded.”

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.

These don’t pop up for sale often!

m677-mi

“If you know what this is, you know that they do not come up for sale very often. This is the 4 door military version of the FC170 cab over pickup truck built by Willys and the Kaiser Jeep from 1956 to 1965. They say that around 400 of them were built for the Navy in 1964. This is 1 of the approximately 50 know to still exist. She has a South Carolina windshield registration tag from 1975, but she has been in Michigan for at least 10 years and is now located in Farmington Hills, Michigan.

The Good:
#264 of approximately 400 M-677s ever built. This vehicle is still in very original condition with it’s complete Cerlist 3 cylinder, 2 stroke, supercharged diesel engine, T-90 Transmission, Spicer 18 Transfer Case and full interior. All the glass is there and good, except for a small crack in the Driver’s door main window at the bottom that is barley visible. Interior and floor steel are in very good condition. I have a clear title.

1964 M-677 Columbia, MO **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: FC150-FC170-M677 This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: Was $4200. **SOLD** Spotted by yours truly as it was being towed west from Denver on I-70.

“This is truck #383 of the estimated 400 diesel-powered, Forward Control Jeep crew cabs built for the Marine Corp in 1964. The majority of these rare trucks have not survived, and this one barely has. It appears to have been wrecked early in its life and was subsequently stripped of its drivetrain and military dash. The collectibility of these trucks makes this one worth restoring, though it will entail quite a bit of work. These rare four-door cabs were constructed largely of parts available from standard civilian production.

Enough remains of the rare military body, that it can be rebuild from pieces. A good civilian cab, dash, and doors is included with this sale to help with that reconstruction. The floors of both cabs are remarkably solid. There is some rust in the doors that is repairable. The frame still sits on its original Dana axles, which specification sheets identify with 4.89 gears and Power Lock differentials front and rear. The engine, transmission, and transfer case is gone. The military dog house is still there. It is missing the cover for the battery box and air cleaner, which originally set inside the cab. It has the original military grill guard and bumpers with air-lift loops. It is missing all of the military blackout lights.”

Day 24 – Apr. 12th: Dan’s FCs and The Lost Romanian

2014-04-12-dan-dave

Dan Horenburger and I in front of his Streamline FC Motorhome. See more pics here: http://thefcconnection.com/dan_horenberger_fc_motorhome.htm

Our home for Friday and Saturday night was the Thousand Oaks Hampton Inn. Thousand Oaks was great in part because they had some good food stores. The local Whole Foods had some sliced bison meat they sold in a warming bag (kind of like they do with chicken). Since Ann avoids beef most days (beef protein sensitivity) having some Bison was a treat for both of us!  Not only do they have food, but this small community seems to have more shopping per square foot than most. There are shops everywhere, but not many houses (that we can see) to support them all.

2014-04-12-map

Saturday we did a big loop. The drive north and west on 23/118 was particularly beautiful, due to the beautiful rocky and hilly terrain. The remainder of the drive (especially 101) was full of traffic.

On Saturday, after sleeping in late (due to being awakened by someone walking very heavy in the room above us at 4:30am), our first adventure was a meeting with Dan Horenburger, who has collected an amazing collection of Forward Controls. It was a unique treat to have him share their history with us.

Dan explained that he was brought home in an FC after being born. Clearly he caught the Willys Sickness within just a few days of his birth, the poor guy. By his mid-teens he purchased and rebuilt his first FC. By then there was no turning back, so instead of medication or therapy, he embraced it. Since then he’s spent many years searching for unique vehicles. Fortunately, his professional (carousel restoration) allowed him to travel far and wide to search for them. As you will see he’s been successful.

Here are some of the Fire FCs he owns:

“1964 JEEP WILLYS FORWARD CONTROL FC-170 M-677 CREW CAB 4X4 MARINE ISSUE.
This is an extremely rare version of the jeep fc-170. The m-677 was a crew cab and was a military issue only. Production number estimates are between 300-700 but to my knowledge nobody knows the actual number. Very few survive today. This is a really cool little jeep and gets tons of attention. I couldn’t get it home without having to talk to people everywhere I stopped. I’ve been to many carshows and never seen one. I’ve never seen one driving or anywhere in person until I bought it. This truck is mostly original and has only had a couple owners. The gentleman I bought it from had owned it since at least 1979, maybe earlier. I have registrations going back that far in his name. I believe he purchased it from a military or government auction. Original marine nomenclature tag is on the dash. It is hard to see all the numbers in the pics, but they are clearly visible in person and nothing is worn off. Here are all the details on the jeep/willys. Included is a picture link with MANY MORE PICTURES. Also some pics of other m677’s. Thanks.

We were out for a short drive to downtown Pasco and back. Instead of taking our normal route, I returned home via some side roads. We were a couple miles from home when we spotted these two jeeps. Not often I see a M-677 parked in a driveway (unless I’m at Jesse’s house).

UPDATE 2:  We are certain this was a scam.  Contrary to what the ‘seller’ reports, no LoJack activation has never occurred on a Willys in AZ.

UPDATE:  Thanks to Craig for managing to get a response.  The seller claims these are sold.  And, thanks especially to Jesse for his detailed analysis on this.  In between tearing down my parent’s rotten deck and getting ready to build a new one I’ve been following the comments on this ad/scam/?? with interest.

“I have two modernized like new except for paint m677 FC Kaiser Jeeps with 4 door crew cabs, full skid plates, new motors, new drive train, or professionally rebuilt. Modern features like PS, PB, AC, locker Eaton Rear end. One is Gasoline powered Chevrolet LT-1 350 the other is a 6 cyl heavy duty diesel. To much to mention. $65,000 takes both and plenty of original parts. I had the custom paint jobs blasted off when the company who contracted their build at a cost of over $100,000 defaulted and we repo’ed these.. Both have new interior, AC, 24 12 and 120 volt power. Both have heavy duty winches, and one comes with a PTO winch and hydrostatic plow drive als all hoses drive lines etc. They run and drive great.
